Chapter 272: Chapter 272: I’m Going Back to Yandu Today
Before taking a shower, Wang Chenning sent messages to both Zhao Xiao’an and Yang Xiaofu, telling them that Li Fuzhen had promised to handle the matter well.
He told them everyone was tired and that they should get some rest.
Zhao Xiao’an was exhausted. She was ready to fall asleep the moment her head hit the pillow, so she didn’t bother Wang Chenning any further. After saying goodnight, she went to wash up.
Yang Xiaofu still wanted to come over to Wang Chenning’s room to chat, but he reminded her that there could be people with ill intentions in the hotel. If they made a big deal out of them meeting secretly in the middle of the night, things would get difficult to explain.
Yang Xiaofu agreed that Wang Chenning had a point, so she didn’t bother him again.
Afterward, Wang Chenning took several more phone calls and also messaged Yang Xiaofei and Luo Yuqing.
After contacting everyone he needed to, Wang Chenning finally went to sleep, his mind at ease.
The next morning, Wang Chenning was woken up by a call from Zhao Xiao’an.
He checked the time. It was only 7:30 AM local time, which meant it was 6:30 AM in Yandu. He couldn’t help but feel a little puzzled.
"I have to go back to Yandu today!" Zhao Xiao’an’s voice sounded a little down. "There are some things I need to handle back home. My colleagues are returning with me. Our colleagues at the Tokyo station will be responsible for the coverage when you get there. Someone else will take over the follow-up reports here in Seoul."
"What happened?" Although he’d gotten some idea from Luo Yuqing yesterday, Wang Chenning was still surprised. "Why are you going back so suddenly?"
"It’s some work things, and some family things. I’ll tell you more after I get back and figure everything out," Zhao Xiao’an said, then quietly asked Wang Chenning if it was a good time for her to come over and say goodbye in person.
"Come on over, the door’s unlocked." Wang Chenning knew what she meant and immediately agreed.
A short while later, Zhao Xiao’an, wearing a hat and glasses, slipped into Wang Chenning’s room.
Wang Chenning was still in bed and hadn’t gotten dressed.
Seeing that Wang Chenning was still in bed, Zhao Xiao’an took off her jacket and slid into bed with him, under the covers.
"I think I might be in a little trouble, but it’s nothing serious," Zhao Xiao’an whispered, snuggling into Wang Chenning’s arms. "I’ll tell you the details after I get back and sort things out."
Without waiting for him to reply, she leaned in and kissed him.
Wang Chenning knew what kind of farewell she wanted, so he didn’t waste any words, returning her kiss with even greater passion.
This time, he didn’t deliberately tease her, instead giving her the most satisfying morning send-off.
This was a pleasant surprise for Zhao Xiao’an. She lay in his arms, full of reluctance to leave him.
After a long, intimate moment with Wang Chenning, she finally slipped away.
Only after Zhao Xiao’an had snuck back to her own room like a thief did Wang Chenning finally get out of bed.
At breakfast, Yang Xiaofu couldn’t help but feel delighted when she learned that Zhao Xiao’an was leaving.
She didn’t ask him why, but instead asked when he was going to make good on his promise.
"You promised to take me out!"
Wang Chenning had little interest in taking her out, especially with so much going on. "After what happened last night, do you really think it’s safe to go out for fun?"
"Fine!" Yang Xiaofu agreed with a pout. "But when we get to Tokyo, you have to take me out!"
"I hear your sister is coming to Tokyo," Wang Chenning said with a chuckle. "I’ll take both of you sisters out then! Of course, that’s only if we have time and don’t run into any more trouble. I’m sure you realize that after yesterday, I’m practically public enemy number one in South Korea. They might even follow us to Tokyo to cause problems."
"Why is everything so complicated!" Yang Xiaofu was getting frustrated. "What’s my sister coming for? And you! This is what you get for being so high-profile and making enemies everywhere!"
Although Yang Xiaofu had thrown a few fits in front of Wang Chenning, she knew when to stop and didn’t make things difficult for him.
Zhao Xiao’an and her colleagues were scheduled to leave Seoul on a noon flight. Wang Chenning had promised he would see her off.
Luo Yuqing had messaged him that she was arriving on an 11:00 AM flight.
He could see Zhao Xiao’an off and then welcome Luo Yuqing.
Wang Chenning didn’t ask Zhao Xiao’an about Luo Yuqing, nor did he ask Luo Yuqing why Zhao Xiao’an was returning to Yandu so abruptly.
’I’ll ask Luo Yuqing when she gets here.’
At 9:00 AM, the exchange delegation, having canceled all its activities, held an impromptu meeting to address the conflict from the previous night.
Zheng Chusheng informed everyone that it was an extremely serious and vicious incident. He stated that the Chinese side had repeatedly urged their South Korean counterparts to resolve the matter appropriately and to provide adequate security for the delegation members.
Zheng Chusheng added that South Korean security officers were now stationed at the hotel. Everyone entering or leaving would have their identification checked. He stressed that if any delegation members went out, they must cooperate with the security officers’ inspections.
The foreign affairs bureau and the delegation would continue to track the progress of how the South Korean side planned to handle the incident.
Last night and early this morning, the South Korean Traditional Medical Association and several of its members issued statements strongly condemning the previous night’s violence.
The South Korean Traditional Medical Association also released a report on yesterday’s medical competition.
They lavished praise on Wang Chenning for his masterful medical skills and his goodwill in being willing to engage with the South Korean traditional medical community for mutual improvement.
Everyone could understand a bit of arrogance from a young man who possessed such masterful skills.
Furthermore, after winning the competition, Wang Chenning hadn’t taken the opportunity to rub salt in the wound. Instead, he had shown a willingness to guide his South Korean peers toward mutual improvement.
The statement acknowledged that Wang Chenning’s medical proficiency, especially his Acupuncture Skill, had reached a sublime level. It called him a rare young prodigy whose emergence was a stroke of luck for the world of traditional medicine and a blessing for patients everywhere.
Pu Zhengyang, who had been directly involved, was even more sincere in his remarks. He said that for years, he had considered himself a master of national medicine, but now he realized he was merely a frog in a well. In comparison to Wang Chenning, he was truly ashamed of his own ignorance. He added that for his grandson, Pu Zhiyun, to study under Wang Chenning was a great fortune and something he personally hoped for.
If it were possible, he himself would want to become Wang Chenning’s apprentice to improve his own medical skills.
Pu Zhengyang’s statement was met with scorn from many, with numerous radicals calling him a traitor to Korea and accusing him of siding with an outsider. They claimed that after losing the competition, his backbone had been shattered and he could no longer stand tall.
However, many people also read between the lines of Pu Zhengyang’s statement. Combined with the admissions from Li Xizhuang, Jin Yaguang, and others about Wang Chenning’s formidable skills, a growing sentiment was that South Korea’s traditional medicine truly lagged far behind that of Huaxia.
As the meeting was drawing to a close, Wang Chenning received a phone call from Li Fuzhen.
Li Fuzhen told him over the phone that everything had been taken care of. The official resolution would be announced around 2:00 PM that afternoon.
"I hope you’ll be satisfied with the outcome. If not, just let me know, and I’ll press them further."
