Chapter 332: Slowly Conquering

Chapter 332: Chapter 332: Slowly Conquering

Wang Chenning walked in just as Anning, who had been out shopping that evening and come back with a pile of feminine dresses and clothes, was getting ready to wash up.

She jumped when she saw him walk through the door.

"You’re not welcome here. Get out!" She turned her back on him.

Wang Chenning noticed the heap of colorful dresses and clothes tossed on the bed. He walked over and picked one up to have a look, then grinned and teased her, "Thinking about changing up your style?"

Anning’s usual style had always been on the masculine side — cool, sharp, and androgynous.

But what was piled on the bed now were unmistakably feminine dresses, the flowy, elegant kind.

"Don’t touch my clothes!" The moment she saw him handling her new things, Anning stormed over in a burst of flustered indignation. "What is your problem? You’re so damn annoying."

Wang Chenning ignored her irritation but threw her a compliment anyway. "These dresses are gorgeous. You’re tall, you’ve got great presence — you’d look amazing in them."

"Didn’t someone spend half his time telling me I had a terrible figure and couldn’t even tell if I was a man or a woman?" Anning shot him a withering look. "How shameless do you have to be to say something you clearly don’t mean?"

"That was before I got the full picture," Wang Chenning said with a cheerful grin. "With a thicker layer underneath and something a bit more form-fitting on top, trust me, the curves would be there. Don’t worry — things are only going to get better from here."

He picked up one of the dresses. "Why don’t you try one on? I’ll tell you which one suits you best."

"I’m not putting anything on for you to gawk at." Anning snatched the dress back, then scooped up all the new clothes and carried the whole bundle into the bathroom.

"I’m showering and going to bed. Do whatever you want, just do it somewhere else." She gave him a pointed look that said: get out.

"I still haven’t done what I promised." Wang Chenning pulled Anning into his arms. "Let me do another treatment session in a bit. If I’m right, your period should start tomorrow — one more round of conditioning tonight and all the side effects should clear up. You’ll be sleeping soundly for the next few days."

Anning struggled hard the moment his arms wrapped around her, but Wang Chenning simply tightened his hold around her waist and rested his chin on her shoulder.

After a while, her resistance gradually faded, and she eventually stopped fighting him, letting him keep his arm around her waist.

"Have your legs been aching or sore today?" Wang Chenning murmured close to her ear. "If they have, I can take care of that."

"You’re impossible." Anning flared up again, equal parts annoyed and embarrassed. "Stay away from me. I don’t want to see your face."

But she was already struggling far less than before, and when Wang Chenning reached around and began gently kneading her lower abdomen, she put up only the faintest token resistance.

Then, before she could brace herself, he kissed her — bold and unhesitating.

Anning pressed her lips together and held out for a few seconds, then her resolve crumbled entirely.

"I’m going to shower." Several minutes later, she wrenched herself free with what little strength she had left and bolted to the bathroom, slamming the door and locking it behind her.

She leaned against the door, breathing hard.

Eyes shut, she wrestled with herself for a moment — and then finally gave in and undressed to shower.

When she stepped out of the shower, she realized she hadn’t brought a change of clothes or her pajamas in with her.

Fortunately, she’d thrown all the new dresses into the bathroom earlier.

She picked out her favorite of the bunch and put it on.

Her heart gave a nervous flutter as she reached for the bathroom door.

Part of her was afraid Wang Chenning would be right there to pester her. Another part of her — a bigger part — was afraid he might already be gone.

As it turned out, neither fear came true. He hadn’t left, but he didn’t pounce on her the moment she stepped out either.

"Not bad at all." He looked her over slowly when she appeared in the new dress, eyes narrowing with appreciation. "Good eye — that dress really suits your figure and your whole vibe. You’d stop traffic wearing it outside. The only thing missing is your hair. If it were long and flowing, it’d be something else entirely."

"I’m not growing my hair out." Anning rolled her eyes.

"I love the look of long hair on a girl." Wang Chenning watched her with a warm smile, asking her to turn around twice so he could see the full effect. "Imagine it fanning out as you spin — how stunning would that be?"

Anning did her two turns as instructed, then disappeared back into the bathroom.

A moment later, she came back out in a completely different dress, face carefully neutral, and asked flatly, "What about this one?"

"The first one works for almost any occasion," Wang Chenning said without missing a beat. "This one is strictly formal — too stiff for everyday wear. But in the right setting, it would bring out every bit of your presence. Put your hair up in a chignon, and honestly, you’d look like royalty."

Anning took that in, turned, and went back in to change into another one.

Wang Chenning gave his verdict on that one too.

She had bought six expensive dresses that evening, plus several other tops and trousers.

His assessments were hitting the mark every time, so she went ahead and modeled each one for him.

After showing him the last outfit and getting his take, Anning gave him his marching orders again. "Alright, you’ve seen everything. Time for you to go home and sleep. I’m going to bed too."

"I still haven’t done the treatment." Wang Chenning scooped her up without warning. "Come on — into the bedroom, get undressed. It’ll only take half an hour."

Anning protested, naturally, but in the end she found herself lying on the bed under his insistence.

Wang Chenning carefully helped her with her clothes; she put up a small struggle, then let him.

Once he’d helped her undress, she quickly burrowed under the covers.

But when Wang Chenning had everything ready and moved to begin the acupuncture on her lower abdomen, she cooperated with him all the same.

Once she felt the treatment taking effect, she let go of any pretense of resistance and let her body relax completely, making it easier for him to work.

After half an hour of acupuncture, Anning felt as though she were lying in warm sunlight — every bone and muscle in her body suffused with a profound, blissful ease.

When Wang Chenning finished the needlework and moved on to the massage, not only did she not resist — she actually pointed out the spots that needed attention.

And when his hands began to shift from therapeutic to something more playful, she responded in kind, quickly enough.

Before long, the tomboy in her took over of its own accord, no longer holding anything back.

Another forty minutes passed. Anning was curled quietly in Wang Chenning’s arms, as small and soft as a child nestled against her mother.

"You impossible man," she mumbled, giving his shoulder a light bite. "How am I supposed to hate you now? What am I supposed to do with you?"

"We were never meant to be enemies," Wang Chenning said, stroking her gently, looking at her with undisguised tenderness. "We could have been good friends all along. So let’s stop being on opposite sides — and tell your brother and your family to stop coming after me too. If anything, you should think about working with me. You’d stand to gain a lot more than you ever would going up against me. Don’t you think?"

Anning was quiet. She didn’t have an answer for that.

After a short while, Wang Chenning had ideas about being difficult again, but Anning had had enough.

"Go home. I need to sleep — I’ve got things to do tomorrow." She shoved him firmly out from under the covers.

"Alright, alright." Wang Chenning took the opportunity to get up. "Get some rest. I’ll see myself out."

He was tidying up and getting dressed when Anning suddenly spoke up. "Bring me breakfast tomorrow morning."
