Vampire Progenitor of the Immortal World
Chapter 62 - 52 : The Transformation (1)Chapter 62: Chapter 52 : The Transformation (1)
The first response came without sound.
Ethan sat beneath the old tree, the Blood Seed resting quietly within him, when something unfamiliar shifted through the depths of his consciousness.
It was not the Blood Seed. It was not Blood Tempering. It was something that had been waiting. A presence he had never possessed before gradually became distinct, as though a sealed door within him had finally reached the moment when it could be opened. Ethan’s eyes narrowed.
He immediately stopped moving. The change was subtle, but his awareness had already become sharp enough to notice it. Then the information arrived again. Not as a voice. Not as an explanation. Only a concise response within his consciousness.
"Vampire Template : Activating..."
Ethan remained completely still. For several breaths, he simply stared ahead. Then his expression changed.
"Vampire."
The word escaped him almost involuntarily. Who would have thought the thing that had occupied so much of his imagination on Earth had appeared in a form that was no longer fiction. Memories came rushing back, he remembered his old room. The novels. The ridiculous number of vampire stories he had read. The arguments he had once had with himself about how an immortal creature would behave in a cultivation society. The endless possibilities he had imagined when writing his own ideas.
Back then, vampires had been stories. Here, cultivation had been real. Spirit beasts were real. Cultivators were real. And now, a vampire template was activating inside him.
Ethan’s breathing became slightly quicker. He actually smiled. Not the restrained smile he usually wore when something went according to plan. This one was genuine.
Almost boyish.
"After everything."
He looked down at his hands.
"You’re actually giving me this?"
For a brief moment, the careful cultivator disappeared behind the vampire fanatic he had once been. Then like a sea after a storm, the excitement gradually settled.
His smile faded.
His eyes became thoughtful. That was when Ethan returned to himself. Excitement was not a plan. He had learned that lesson too many times. The Vampire Template was unknown. Its effects were unknown. Its requirements were unknown.
And most importantly, he did not know whether accepting it immediately would create an opportunity or a disaster.
He closed his eyes.
He began thinking. If the Immortal Ring had waited until now to make the template available, then it was unlikely to be something meaningless. The Blood Seed had appeared first. His body had reached the peak of Body Tempering. His foundation was stronger than it had been months ago.
Every step had prepared him for something, even though he had not understood what that something was. Perhaps this was it. But perhaps it was also the beginning of something far more dangerous.
Ethan opened his eyes. He had made his decision. "I’ll proceed."
The response came immediately.
"Confirmation Required."
Ethan’s gaze sharpened.
"So that’s how it is."
He did not hesitate. "Confirmed."
For several moments, nothing happened. Then a stream of information entered his consciousness. It was not a manual. There were no elaborate explanations. There was simply enough information for him to understand the fundamental requirements of the transformation.
Blood essence.
A stable environment.
A prepared body.
The Blood Seed.
And a period of uninterrupted transformation.
Ethan remained silent. Then he stood. If this was going to happen, he would not attempt it beside a road or inside the city. He would prepare first. That was simply how he operated.
It took him several days to gather what he needed. The first requirement was blood. Not human blood. Spirit-beast blood. Ethan remembered the first time he had seen spirit beasts.
It had been long ago, when he was still living in the village and had barely begun understanding that cultivation was real. A merchant caravan had passed through the settlement, carrying strange creatures in reinforced cages. At the time, he had only been able to watch. Now he understood what those creatures represented.
Resources.
And in a cultivation world, resources were everywhere if one knew where to look. The city was large enough that spirit-beast materials were not difficult to find. Ethan eventually located a shop dealing in cultivation materials and purchased several containers of freshly prepared spirit-beast blood.
He did not buy the cheapest available material. He also did not waste money pursuing the highest grade he could not reasonably afford. He chose a quality appropriate to his current level. Enough blood essence to support the transformation. Enough purity to make the Blood Seed useful. Enough quantity to prevent the process from failing halfway through.
The transaction attracted little attention. Spirit-beast blood was not an unusual cultivation resource. To everyone else, Ethan was simply another cultivator purchasing materials. He returned to his residence, packed what he needed, and left the city. He did not tell anyone where he was going. He did not ask anyone for assistance. The farther he traveled, the fewer people he encountered. Eventually, he found what he wanted.
A natural cave had formed within a rocky hillside several hours from the city. It was not deep enough to be dangerous, but it was secluded enough that ordinary travelers had little reason to come here. Ethan inspected the surrounding area carefully. He checked the entrance.
The interior.
The nearby slopes.
The possibility of someone passing through. Only after satisfying himself that the location was sufficiently isolated did he begin preparing it. He cleared loose stones. Checked the cave’s walls and ceiling. Created a simple arrangement that would allow him to remain undisturbed.
Then he dug a shallow depression into the stone floor. He lined it carefully. The containers of spirit-beast blood were placed nearby.
Everything was ready.
Ethan sat beside the depression and looked at it for a long time. This was the point where preparation ended. There would be no easy reversal after this. He closed his eyes. The information he had received earlier surfaced in his mind.
The Blood Seed.
The Template.
The transformation.
Ethan took one slow breath, then another. "Let’s begin."
He lowered himself into the prepared depression. The spirit-beast blood surrounded him. His expression became completely calm. The excitement was gone. Only concentration remained. Then he activated the Blood Seed.
Something answered.
The tiny condensed essence that had once seemed almost insignificant became different the instant Ethan directed his Blood Tempering toward it. The Blood Seed responded. The surrounding blood began to react.
Ethan immediately understood the first principle. The Blood Seed was not consuming the blood. It was refining it. The difference was enormous. The spirit-beast blood contained vitality, but it also contained qualities that were not suited to Ethan’s transformation.
The Blood Seed drew those qualities inward and separated them. The usable essence remained. The impurities did not. The process resembled neither ordinary cultivation nor simple absorption.
It was closer to purification.
The Blood Seed became the point through which the blood essence was filtered, refined, and transformed into something compatible with the developing Vampire Template. Ethan’s eyes narrowed.
"So this is what you were for."
The Blood Seed did not answer. It simply continued its work. More and more refined essence gathered around it. The transformation began. Ethan’s body reacted immediately. His muscles tightened. His breathing became heavier. His heartbeat changed rhythm.
Then something deeper moved through his body.
