Shen Daoxing pushed off with his feet and shot up from the ground. He raised one hand high, already gripping a pitch-black longsword.
CRACKLE!
Black arcs of electricity surged as the surrounding space began to warp, stretching and compressing in turn.
Immediately, a colossal beam of light shot out, one vast enough to span heaven and earth and cleave mountains in two.
BANG!
With a sound like a thunderclap from a clear sky, the ancient altar shattered, splitting right down the middle into two halves.
The next moment, a hundred-zhang-long Sword Aura flew across the sky and sliced across the ground.
RUMBLE!
The earth shook, the mountains swayed, and the world seemed to spin.
The ground of Youwang Prison trembled and split apart, revealing a massive chasm hundreds of zhang long.
An eerie glow then erupted from the chasm, accompanied by the endless sounds of ghostly wails and wolfish howls. Far below, in Mo Ya Prison, hideous Fierce Ghosts stood atop mountains of blades, roaring at the sky and baring their fangs.
But Shen Daoxing did not lower the Venerable Sword in his hand.
The seven-colored Profound Platform within him suddenly spun, and an immense surge of Venerable Power gushed forth once more, gathering in his upraised hand.
CRACKLE!
Black arcs of electricity flickered ceaselessly.
A black Sword Aura, hundreds of zhang long, materialized once again on the Venerable Sword.
Shen Daoxing simply swung his arm.
The black Sword Aura, hundreds of zhang long, streaked across the sky and hacked downward.
Then, with a slight flicker, Shen Daoxing's figure plunged downward, charging into Mo Ya.
Tao Ying and the others were stunned for a moment before hastily summoning their Magical Artifacts to fly down in pursuit.
Before they had even landed, they looked down.
BOOM!
A deafening roar echoed out. They felt the entire Mo Ya Prison tremble as a massive fissure, hundreds of zhang long, slowly split open the ground, releasing a bone-chilling Ghost Qi.
Shen Daoxing had already cleaved Mo Ya Prison open.
Stunned, Tao Ying and the others hurried to follow.
They had not yet descended to the next level when...
RUMBLE!
RUMBLE!
A series of massive explosions rang out.
The entire hellscape shook violently.
CRASH!
Countless bits of rubble rained down from above.
The group quickly looked down to see a brilliant black light flaring up.
A moment later, when the light dimmed, they saw layer after layer of immense chasms appearing beneath their feet, cutting straight through to the very bottom.
Shen Daoxing had actually sliced open all Six Prisons, charging straight to the lowest level.
Stunned again, they hastily controlled their Magical Artifacts to follow him, passing through one massive fissure after another, descending all the way to the lowest level: Fengdu Prison.
This place resembled a huge town. Quaint houses stood in neat rows, with bluestone-paved roads crisscrossing between them. The streets were lined with numerous shops.
However, the sky was completely dark, with only a sinister, terrifying, eerie blue light shining down.
The streets were completely empty, inside and out. They were also covered in fallen leaves, as if they hadn't been swept in a very long time.
Fengdu Prison! The Fengdu Ghost City!
At that moment, Shen Daoxing landed on a rooftop, holding Xin, and looked around.
Although it was called a Ghost City, the entire town was deathly quiet. There wasn't a single person in sight, nor even a single ghost.
Seeing this, Tao Ying quickly flipped through the book in her hands, then looked up with delight. "This is great! We've passed through the Celestial Demon Six Prisons. This is the final level, the Fengdu Ghost City. According to my ancestor's notes, we just have to find the Palace King of Fengdu City and have him write all our names in his Book of Life and Death, and then we can leave."
Luo An paused, then asked in confusion, "So where is this Palace King?"
Tao Ying was silent for a moment. She glanced down at her book, then pointed forward. "Right there."
Everyone looked up. In the very center of the Ghost City stood a majestic hall with fine jade towers, taller than any other building in the town.
"Big Brother?"
Just then, Xin, who was in Shen Daoxing's arms, groggily woke up.
Shen Daoxing looked down with a small smile and patted his head. "Xin, you've had it rough on this journey."
Hearing this, Xin just shook his head obediently. "It wasn't rough!"
Seeing that Xin was alright, Shen Daoxing couldn't help but feel relieved.
SQUEAK! SQUEAK!
At that moment, a sharp squeak came from within Shen Daoxing's robes. As if having heard Xin's voice, the Golden-Eyed Treasure-Seeking Rat poked its head out with concern.
At the sight of it, Xin's face lit up. He grinned, pulled a wooden stick out of nowhere, and brought it down on the Golden-Eyed Treasure-Seeking Rat's head.
Seeing that Xin was safe and sound, the Golden-Eyed Treasure-Seeking Rat bared its teeth and let out a few indignant squeaks at him. Then, with a SWISH, it dove back into Shen Daoxing's robes, refusing to stoop to a child's level.
Within the Fengdu Ghost City, a cold wind was blowing, sweeping up the fallen leaves from the streets and sending them drifting through the dim air. The complete silence gave everything a very strange feeling.
Tao Ying was flipping through her book with a puzzled expression. 'Strange... Those who fall into this Fengdu Ghost City are supposed to be extremely vicious evil spirits. It's said that if disciples of the Celestial Demon Sect couldn't resist the temptation of a Celestial Demon, they would fall into Fengdu City and become Fierce Ghosts. But what's weird is that there isn't a single ghost in sight...?'
"Isn't it a good thing that we haven't run into anything weird?"
Luo An suddenly spoke up. He ducked his head and peered around cautiously, clearly terrified of running into any ghosts.
In contrast, Luo Xi, who was beside him, showed no fear at all. Instead, she hugged her brother and patted him reassuringly.
"Let's go."
Without hesitation, Shen Daoxing led the group toward the hall in the center of the town.
"Miss Tao, is that... uh... Fengdu Hall King scary? Is he easy to talk to? Are we going to have to fight him?"
Luo An shuffled nervously to Tao Ying's side and asked, glancing around cautiously. He seemed to have a strong aversion to all things ghostly, a complete departure from his previous fearless demeanor.
He then ducked his head and huddled into his sister's arms.
Tao Ying saw this and shook her head in amusement. "According to my ancestor's notes, the Fengdu Hall King isn't dangerous. He won't attack anyone. As long as a living person can reach him, the Palace King will write their name in the Book of Life and Death and send them away."
"Oh, good! That's good!"
Hearing that, Luo An instantly breathed a sigh of relief.
After that, the group proceeded onward. The shops lining the streets of Fengdu City all had their doors wide open, yet they were completely empty. Only fallen leaves swirled up by the wind, looking utterly terrifying under the dim, eerie light.
However, Shen Daoxing's group encountered no danger at all. Before long, they arrived before the tall hall. The building was majestic and imposing, and hanging above the main entrance was an ancient plaque inscribed with the two large words "Fengdu Hall."
