Ray waited patiently for the system to respond to his very reasonable request.
Swapping skills was something very common, especially in a big MMO where you simply have too many skills and limited slots to equip.
A few seconds later, his question was finally answered in a positive light.
[That is viable, but once replaced, all inheritance of said skill will be removed from your brain. At the same time, you can forget about trying to relearn them by memorizing the skills to have an easier life.]
’Fuck, the system is sly.’ Ray silently thought to himself.
He had wanted to trick the system into agreeing, and then he would later on restudy them on his own.
After all, muscle memories existed for a reason. But if the system wiped off those muscle memories too, then it was no different than a USB storage drive being deleted completely.
Nothing would be saved when inputted back to the desktop.
Who could have imagined the system would also one-up him and make sure he couldn’t pull such a move?
Seriously... why did he have to get a sentinel system and not a real system without any intelligence or a sentinel?
Had he gotten a non-intelligence system, he could have used so many loopholes or bugs to get away with things.
’Anyway, you agree on a swap, so let’s swap Rend with Mental Fortitude and Feral Movement with Mana Control.’ Ray cheekily said to the system.
[Nice try, host! You’re only getting one!]
’Tsk, you’re boring.’ Ray clicked his tongue and ultimately decided on teleportation.
Don’t even question this judgment!
With teleportation, he could basically teleport anywhere and everywhere.
Who needs mental fortitude or mana control if one could just keep teleporting and dodging?
Some might disagree with his decision, but one couldn’t satisfy everyone.
Ray knew that this was still the early stage of the novel storyline, so mental fortitude and mana control weren’t quite as useful as teleportation.
With teleportation, he could disregard the travel time to move from one place to another.
And if trained to a higher mastery level, Ray wouldn’t have to worry about being late to an event as disaster struck.
It would be a lie to say he wasn’t emotional when he witnessed the ruins and destruction at Moonrock Town.
The scene and reaction from the people were so realistic that he found it hard to differentiate whether he was in the real world or a novel world.
’Authors can write thousands of deaths with a single pen of theirs, but how many of them knew just how terrifying and horrific the scene would be firsthand?’ He certainly knew the answer to this question after that incident.
[You have devoured the skill, Teleportation!]
Once the system confirmed his decision, Ray inherited all related information regarding Teleportation.
’As expected, I can only teleport like 3 meters for now, and it does strain my mental concentration.’ Ray might have learned how to use it, but that didn’t mean his body would be adept to it immediately.
He would have to practice more of the skills and raise the mastery level.
The process was similar to certain games where the skills were learned, but they needed to be used repeatedly to raise the mastery level. Then the controller of said skill needed to be well adept at it as well to fully utilize its maximum potential.
"Anyway, are you full now?" Ray closed out the prompt and turned to Belva.
There was also Samantha, but she was irrelevant now.
He already devoured her skill, so she was basically useless to him for the moment.
"Already got scared to full..." Belva replied in an unamused tone. She couldn’t imagine the consequences if Margaret were truly provoked.
"I’m going back to my dorm." Samantha clicked her tongue and glared at Ray one last time.
"Go away. Nobody even asked about you." Ray waved his hand in annoyance. He nearly lost his chance to devour Margaret’s skill because of her interference.
Others might think that he intentionally deflected the mana leakage toward Samantha, but the truth was that it was completely coincidental.
He was not that overpowered!!!
It was all luck-based, and Ray couldn’t just admit on the spot that he did it accidentally. He would have lost so much aura just from that, and all the airs he built up would be wasted.
Samantha didn’t even bother to respond to his provocation and left directly.
Her stomach was still in pain, and she was unsure if she would need to go to a restroom again.
All she knew was that she definitely remembered today’s grudge.
Once she left the vicinity, the cafeteria became eerily silent. Without anyone present in such a large cafeteria, it had quite the horror element.
"Should we explore the other facilities?" Belva inquired.
Ray rubbed his stomach and shook his head. "Nah, I’m full and feel like taking a nap."
"But you’d be fat like that."
"Don’t we have a magic spell to quickly lose weight? I didn’t see any fat people here, so they probably all use a special weight loss magic spell."
"..."
Belva was rendered speechless by his fascinating mindset.
Weight loss magic?
Which Mage would have the time to research something like that?
Magic in general was very mentally and physically draining. Any Mage who even dabbled in magic was bound to be fit physically because that was the bare minimum requirement to even cast some of the simplest offensive spells.
When Ray saw her awkward expression, his face turned ghastly pale.
You’ve got to be kidding me, right??!
He thought he had figured out the cure to weight loss!
What kind of dumb clown Mages doesn’t even research something like this that could earn them a ton of money?
"Is there even any point in exploring the other facilities?" Ray asked.
"There is something called the point system if you head to the arena section. As long as you earn enough points, you can use that to skip classes." Belva suddenly revealed, tempting him like a sweet devil.
