A blast of wind lifted Valerie into the air, where she performed a stiff flip before catching herself on a newly formed Air Platform. She glided down to the ground slowly, stopping herself next to the axe wielding bombshell.
Although she looked nothing like herself, either version of herself, and instead took the form of a basic bottle blonde Valerie could still recognise Lucy. After all, this was her pre-programmed disguise that she activated simply by flipping the choker over, and it was Valerie herself that had helped create it.
So why wouldn’t she?
"What took you so long? I thought baby sitting was going to get me killed for a second." Valerie said with a smirk,
"Sorry, I was a little caught up in my personal activities. Only realised what was happening after your little display, and then the cops got in the way. Cleared out fast when I brought this out though."
Lucy gestured to the double bladed axe she held in her hands, the same one that they had recovered from the ’Siege of Infernus’ dungeon. Among the many things that it did, the axe was a soul weapon.
It allowed Lucy to not only summon and dismiss it whenever and wherever she wished, but summon it across worlds. Not to mention, it grew with her.
It was already feeding off of her aura, the metal becoming darker and the blade glinting with an even more wicked intent as its presence demanded attention, especially from such an entrance. It was even humming slightly, as if it was sounding its approval of such attention and reverence, or perhaps at the chance to spill blood once again.
"So, what’s the plan for this one?" Lucy asked, glancing at Valerie who was only half paying attention.
Valerie had her eyes narrowed as they were scanning the crowds. She was trying to find the strange man she had noticed just a second ago, but the bastard had disappeared.
Vanished into thin air. A teleportation skill, it had to be. Far too advanced for any normal player. Just how was he getting his power? Did he have a constitution like her, or was it something different?
She clicked her tongue in annoyance, sparing a glance towards the many camera’s around them, before focusing on the purple giant.
"He adapts. Grows stronger, harder to kill. We need to hit him fast and end it faster."
As if to prove Valerie’s point, the Purple Giant growled lowly as muscle fibres burst from the severed stump where a portion of his arm used to be. The fibres wriggled in the air like a bundle of snakes held by the tail, before they lunged towards the severed arm.
They dug into the limb, causing the fingers to twitch, before the Giant started to swing his arm around. His severed arm keeping its fist closed as he turned it into a wretched flesh flair, that could also be used to grab people if he wanted. And he certainly wanted to.
"I can stun him, might be just for a second at most though. Think that will be enough for a kill shot?" Valerie asked, glancing at Lucy.
The Demoness in disguise nodded her head and twirled her axe in her hand, letting her aura flow into the weapon and increase its sharpness.
"Alright then, let’s do this. On my signal." Valerie said, before she lifted up and burst forwards on her flying platform once again. She swept her hand to the side, throwing one idiot back by his implants just before the giant’s flesh flail could grab him.
Another hand wave generated a dozen small magic circles around the giant’s head, which immediately started to spew a hail of fireballs that peppered his head, obscuring his vision.
Far too many of the people attempting to fight the ’boss’ took this as a sign that this was the perfect moment for them to get involved. But when they eagerly ran forwards with their kitchen knives and pathetic magic, they immediately found themselves being forced back by cars or other metallic objects that suddenly leapt up into their paths.
"Fucking Larpers..." Valerie muttered to herself, finally free of the baby sitting duty for a brief moment, as the Giant leapt out of her fiery barrage.
His eyes immediately locked onto Valerie, as he swung his new flail towards her and cocked back his other arm, ready for a devastating punch.
Golden runes appeared around her arms, as her hands of Buddha manifested in the air. She flipped over the swinging flail, not stopping her approach, and deflected the punch into the ground. The punch blew a hole into the concrete as Valerie quickly glided around his body.
Her Buddha hands struck the back of his knees, a weakpoint that no amount of muscles or magic could compensate for, which buckled his stance and drove him down to one knee.
Lifting her staff like a rapier, Valerie jabbed at the Giant’s back so fast her arm blurred slightly. Every blow was like a tickle to the giant, damaging him even less than the barrage of bullets did before he started to adapt.
But the physical strikes were nothing, compared to the needles of mana Valerie was injecting him with alongside the strikes.
They stabbed into the vital pathways of his biology, which she was hoping was still close enough to human considering his body shape.
His bodily functions seized up, his arms flopping limply by his side as the needles of mana clogged up his internal pathways and stopped any flow to his extremities. It didn’t take long for him to start to twitch his fingers, a few seconds at most, before he already started to adapt Valerie’s stunning strike.
But that was more than enough time.
Lucy appeared before him like a phantom, her black glinting with sadistic glee as she swung it upwards and leapt into the air.
She cleaved his torso open, exposing his internal organs, and sliced his clean in two. When she reached the pinnacle of her leap, Lucy flipped and drove her axe down, cleaving it straight through the giants neck.
His first person view turned to third person, as his head flopped from his neck and splatted against the ground, oozing grey matter onto the floor from the huge gash that split the skull in two.
Lucy landed gracefully, twirling her axe and resting it on her shoulder with a smug smile on her face. Valerie chuckled softly, floating over next to her and patting her on the shoulder.
"Good work. You know, I really don’t know what those guys were talking about. Your work isn’t sloppy at-" Valerie said, before Lucy lunged at her and wrapped her arms tight around Valerie’s frail body before a heavy fist slammed into the pair of them and sent them flying through the nearest car and into the front room of a jewellery store.
She had failed to notice the fingers still twitching after the head had been removed.
