Chapter 1249 - 537: Bitter Struggle Against Tzeentch’s Demon ArmyChapter 1249: Chapter 537: Bitter Struggle Against Tzeentch’s Demon Army
"Ugh!" Laine’s strike missed, and he was immediately pinned to the ground by claws. He cried out in agony, attempting to draw the Goddess of Revenge for a desperate counterattack: "Damn it!"
Every move Laine made was within Carlos’s grasp. The Great Demon of Tzeentch swept its Magic Staff horizontally, striking the hand Laine had reached behind his back. It kicked Laine flying away, and the Fate Weaver sneered coldly. It then aimed its Magic Staff at the ground, spewing a torrent of blue Witchcraft Flames.
The trees that had just appeared on the ground turned to ashes under the power of the Witchcraft Flames.
From afar, Mogiana’s emerald eyes widened. The Lake God Witch couldn’t even understand how Carlos predicted her magic and nullified it in advance.
This wasn’t the time to ponder; the Lake God Witch immediately chanted new magic: "Chain Lightning!"
Arcs of lightning swept across the battlefield, crazily leaping among Chaos Demons, the sound of explosions incessant, turning all demons in its path to ashes. The Fate Weaver uttered a disdainful cry, and with a single command, dozens of Tzeentch’s Low-Tier Demons used their bodies to block Mogiana’s Chain Lightning.
Then, a blaze of blue flames, capable of melting everything, forced the Lake God Witch to retreat. This blaze touched the city wall.
The firm walls of Sharp-Top Palace melted, and as Mogiana looked closely, the horrifying scene rendered the Lake God Witch nearly speechless.
Simply put, the entire Sharp-Top Palace was melting. The Tzeentch Fire Demons had already reached the walls, shooting flame bullets at their enemies. The walls of Sharp-Top Palace were melting and collapsing under the attack of Witchcraft Flames, transforming streets into ruins, granaries into charcoal, the guards into charred lumps of flesh.
The whole section of the wall had been leveled, and now the Human and Dwarf Alliance Army were fighting demons on the castle ruins. The breach was exceedingly wide, and Teresa the female sorcerer’s ice wall couldn’t seal this gap; the castle’s fall was just a matter of moments.
But the Tzeentch’s Demon Army miscalculated. As the tide-like wave of demons surged into the castle, King Belgar of Eight Peaks noticed the entire section of the wall had been leveled. Standing atop the Oath Stone, this Dwarf King personally announced his arrival.
The dwarf songs drowned out the chaotic roars of Chaos Demons, Dwarf Warhammers crushed demon skulls, Dwarf Battleaxes cleaved through Chaos Plate Armor, the Angland Oath Guard joined the battlefield under Belgar’s lead, and the Chaos Demons’ assault was shattered.
"For the Lady! For Brittania!" What followed were Brittania’s large groups of knights, their shouts for the Lady echoing through the skies. They quickly charged out from the castle, heading outside. This charge was led by Sir Jerald and Holy Grail Knight Fedmond, each knight squad led by a Holy Grail Knight, and their charge greatly slowed the advance of Tzeentch’s Demon Army. The Lake God Battle Banner emitted light, protecting knights from harm.
But this was still not enough to defeat Tzeentch’s strongest Demon Army—the Eternal Legion. The entire Sharp-Top Palace was melting under demon flames, and Carlos immediately summoned more Tzeentch’s Demon Army onto the battlefield. Subsequently, it focused its attention on the returning Laine.
"Mogiana, go support our troops! Order our army to retreat!" Laine, kicked away by Carlos, returned to engage Carlos in a tight fight, both moving almost invisibly fast: "If this fighting continues, we’ll be defeated without a doubt! Retreat first!"
"...I understand!" Mogiana immediately nodded. The Lake God Witch cast a Sixth Ring Life Regeneration Technique, allowing all members of the Human-Dwarf Alliance Army to enjoy its benefits. Then, taking advantage of the fact that leftover Tzeentch’s Demon Army hadn’t joined the battle, she promptly ordered the army to retreat.
Outside the melting city walls, Laine and Carlos’s battle continued.
Laine’s Warhammer directly shattered the Fate Weaver’s Magic Barrier, smashing it like crystalline fragments. Laine unleashed a Spiritual Storm, scorching Carlos’s skin, the beautiful blue feathers charred black, the Great Demon of Tzeentch releasing a painful scream, yet it easily evaded the sweep of Mjolnir and the slash of the Goddess of Revenge.
Then, Carlos unleashed the magic it had long prepared, nine Holy Curses from Tzeentch roared in its chant, erupting with starlike brilliance.
Laine knew he absolutely couldn’t let Carlos complete such terrifying spells. His Spiritual Storm scorched Carlos’s body, tearing large chunks of flesh from the Fate Weaver’s surface. The Goddess of Revenge struck Tzeentch’s Great Demon’s arm, blood spraying everywhere, the thick, nauseating body fluid stimulating Laine’s senses, giving Laine new insight.
The Great Demon of Tzeentch could indeed see through all his actions, but it obviously couldn’t maintain the states of "seeing through" and "chanting" simultaneously. Laine knew all his attacks would be seen through, and he temporarily had no solution. However, the coverage damage of the Spiritual Storm could temporarily render Carlos’s vision ineffective.
But just when Laine wanted to expand his progress, Carlos also completed its magic.
Increasingly dense energy surrounded Laine’s body, followed by four vine-like energy streams encasing the Grey Knight Primarch, energy rushing along these tendrils, reinforcing and hardening them into heavy crystal chains.
"Have you considered changing masters, Laine Macado?" Carlos confidently maintained its Curse binding, intending to loudly declare the Divine Chosen Champion of Lake Pseudo-God had become its captive, but in the next moment, Laine’s roar echoed across the battlefield.
"Don’t think this junk can trap me!!!"
With Laine’s roar, the crystal chains began to crack under his power. Laine gathered his strength for five seconds, then twisted his entire body, shattering the four exceedingly sturdy crystal chains outright, dispersing them into a myriad of lights and shadows.
The Great Demon of Tzeentch incredulously found its carefully prepared Chaos Great Curse Technique ineffective against Laine. Instinctively panicked, it quickly spread its wings and flew straight up, evading Laine’s Spiritual Light Spear, heading towards Sharp-Top Palace.
But when Laine attempted to fight Carlos again, the Divine Chosen Champion of the Lake Fairy realized he couldn’t act impulsively as the battle had shifted.
He could continue fighting Carlos, but his army could hold no longer.
Tzeentch’s Demon Army was too formidable, and the Human-Dwarf Alliance was wavering between retreat and collapse. Griffin Empress flew in from a distance, and Laine promptly mounted the Griffin, shielding the alliance as they retreated from Sharp-Top Palace, carrying some strategic supplies and wounded soldiers, preserving the army’s vital forces: "My soldiers, retreat temporarily! Retreat!!!"
Seeing Laine appear and personally cover the rear, the army’s morale lifted, gradually exiting the battlefield, retreating along the footbridge towards Charon Forest.
Unexpectedly, just when the Human-Dwarf Alliance was at its most vulnerable, retreating across the river via the footbridge, Carlos ordered a halt to the pursuit.
Carlos had no interest in fighting humans and dwarfs to the bitter end only to let the Undead take advantage; this wasn’t the Great Demon of Tzeentch’s purpose in coming to the mortal world. Its agreement with Mathew Bade was to "defeat Laine Macado."
Now that Laine had been forced to retreat, it had fulfilled its promise; retreating was also a form of defeat.
This depends on how the involved parties interpret it.
At this moment, Sharp-Top Palace had completely melted, the famous castle turned into ruins, neither wood, rock nor steel could withstand the Witchcraft Flames of the Tzeentch Fire Demons.
Among the ruins, Carlos extended its injured claw, flipping over a pile of corpses and retrieved a Cavalry Lance.
This was the Cavalry Lance of the former Duke of Atuo, Zilfroy, also one of the Wild Boar Riding Spears bestowed by the Lake Fairy upon the first twelve Holy Grail Knights.
"The first Holy Artifact!"
"My power, has become stronger!"
