Above the ruins of Richard Castle, Mathew Bade’s room.
The Black Knight Mathew Bade was sitting inside the room, surrounded by the raging Wind of the Dead. The Viper of Musillon looked very pale, even somewhat purple. He sat with his eyes closed on a seat decorated with numerous luxurious gemstones.
The gift from Akhan, the Black Chalice Knight had all fallen in battle, and all the power from them channelled back into Mathew Bade. The power, combat skills, and experience of over a dozen Holy Grail Knights flowed back into Mathew Bade.
Relying on such vast energy and experience, Mathew Bade finally broke through to the Holy Sanctuary, but ultimately, this power was not truly his. What Mathew Bade needed to do was to integrate and understand it, transforming these things into his own.
He needed time to digest, and the severely depleted Undead Army also needed time to replenish. Right outside Richard Castle was a large pit of corpses, new Undead Army was being resurrected and assembled. Mad Duke Merovin was dead, Mathew Bade now lacked an Undead Lord who could stand alone.
Mathew Bade waited, the Viper of Musillon ordered that no one should disturb him.
The Viper of Musillon closed his eyes, flashes of his father—Lorne-Rio Cornwall’s sorrowful face crossed his mind from time to time.
Did father truly regret this? Mathew Bade thought more than once.
But it didn’t matter anymore, the Duke of Musillon let out a cold laugh in his heart. He was Lorne’s son, he was the rightful heir to Lorne’s title, the Kingdom Regent, and candidate for the throne.
Since Lorne’s life and death were unknown, as his son, he naturally had the right to inherit everything from Lorne.
Then would come being king, going to the Holy Grail Cathedral, to expose the true face of Lake Jade Pool!
"Squawk~ squawk~ squawk!" Just as Mathew Bade was closing his eyes, contemplating the power of the deceased Black Chalice Knights, a Two-headed Crow landed on the window of his room: "Squawk squawk~"
"Did you succeed?" Mathew Bade immediately sensed something, sitting in the shadows.
"I told you, it’s a transaction, to show you the sincerity of the great Master of Destiny, we helped you a little this time." The Two-headed Crow looked slightly haggard, its appearance seemed old, old enough to almost stand unsteadily. The feathers on its wings were few left, upon hearing Mathew Bade’s words, it opened its mouth: "I completely destroyed the Sharp-Top Palace and repelled Laine Macado and his army, now he has fled to Charon Forest."
"Repelled?" Mathew Bade instinctively furrowed his brows, that was not what he wanted!
But the Viper of Musillon immediately realized, Tzeentch’s Demon Army would never exert full force for him, because there was no reason, just as he refused to believe any message from the Great Demon of Tzeentch.
They were simply collaborators, the Great Demon of Tzeentch wanted the Holy Artifact, Mathew Bade could provide it, Laine Macado needed opposition, Tzeentch’s Demon Army could offer that help.
Humph! For now, just utilize these Chaos scum! Mathew Bade squinted his eyes, the situation was urgent, he temporarily made this choice, each for their needs, and once he controlled this country, Chaos would have no more part to play.
"I need you and your army to hold back Laine Macado and possible reinforcements from the south." Mathew Bade stated his conditions.
"Alright, then I need to get the Lion’s Riding Spear." The Two-headed Crow whispered: "If you want to leverage our power, you need to pay the price, Viper of Musillon, the great Master of Destiny is not someone a mere mortal like you can test."
Lion’s Riding Spear?! Mathew Bade frowned at the words.
The Lion’s Riding Spear was in his hand, having defeated Lorne, Mathew Bade didn’t obtain the Kulona Sword, but the Lion’s Riding Spear indeed fell into his hands.
Thinking of this, Mathew Bade felt deeply hesitant, despite his hatred for Lorne, he had never denied Lorne was his father, and all his actions could be understood as claiming his rightful entitlements, because he was Lorne’s son, possessing weak claims, as Lorne hadn’t named an heir, he could launch a war asserting he was the rightful heir to all of Lorne’s legacy, and this was his greatest asset for the throne, still his bloodline.
Just like if Laine suddenly died, although his son with Surya, Devenhill, has strong claims, Laine and Emmanuelle’s son Frederick could still launch a war, asserting he was his father’s legitimate heir.
Therefore, Mathew Bade believed he was the rightful owner of the Lion’s Riding Spear.
But the Great Demon of Tzeentch’s demands couldn’t be ignored, Mathew Bade knew he was currently very weak, the Undead Army was also very weak, Merovin was dead, regrouping an Undead Army would take time.
A swarm of bats flew past the window, creating a noisy clamor.
The Two-headed Crow stared at Mathew Bade, its meaning was clear, the previous help was free, it was a small gift from Saint Tzeentch, and there would be no such generous offerings in the future.
