Yesterday, someone hacked my account, and that person reset my device. As a result, I lost all of my data.
I spent the entire day trying to recover it, but only a small portion of the data could be restored.
I don’t have any contacts who are technical experts or hackers. Otherwise, the recovery process might have been much easier.
I have lost many good things, which made me so sad, I can’t even describe my emotions.
Because of all this, I wasn’t able to post even a single update yesterday.
I was already suffering from a fever, and then this happened. I don’t even know what to say.
Thankfully, I managed to recover this account. Otherwise, I don’t know what would have happened.
—------—
Vikram slowly nodded. While thinking, ’So... The zombies have already appeared in this dungeon.’ Although his expression remained calm, he finally understood why such a small stronghold never relaxed its guard.
Bushra saw his thoughtful expression before continuing. "Now that you understand why we patrol... you should also know how this world became the way it is."
She took a deep breath. "It all began with a war... A war that changed the fate of every race."
Bushra took a deep breath before beginning.
"It all started with the vampires. As the human population continued to decline, the vampires faced a serious problem. Their primary source of food was disappearing. So they began conducting countless experiments, hoping to create a substitute for humans."
"The result of those experiments was the Zombie Project."
She paused briefly before continuing. "Most of the experiments failed. Many of the test subjects died, while the others became mindless monsters with almost no value. But after countless failures... they finally succeeded."
"They created a zombie with a functioning heart. Unlike ordinary zombies, his heart continuously produced blood. No matter how much blood was drained from him, it would replenish itself. The vampires believed they had finally created the perfect living blood bank."
Vikram listened quietly. In the previous dungeon, he already knew the vampires were trying to create the perfect zombie that could replenish blood, but they had failed there. Here, it seemed they had succeeded.
"But what happened next..." Bushra said, her expression turning serious, "shocked every vampire involved in the project. That zombie possessed intelligence. After killing several researchers, he escaped from the laboratory. The vampires searched for him everywhere, but they never found him."
"As the years passed, he gradually became known throughout the world as the Zombie Emperor. The Zombie Emperor possessed the ability to infect humans with his bite, turning them into zombies under his command. Unlike the failed creations from the vampire laboratories, the zombies he created continued to evolve. Some even awakened unique abilities."
"For example... There is the Split King. He can separate every part of his body and control each piece independently, making him an extremely dangerous opponent."
Bushra’s expression became increasingly solemn. "However, the Zombie Emperor understood one thing. No matter how powerful he became... in front of the Vampire Queen, he and his entire army were insignificant. The vampires fed on blood. And the evolved zombies carried an enormous amount of blood within their bodies. To the vampires... they were the perfect prey."
"So the Zombie Emperor sought to strengthen his forces. He searched for every experimental zombie the vampires had ever created and awakened many of them, gathering them under his command."
"Then... one day, the Zombie Emperor somehow opened a mysterious portal. He disappeared through it together with several of his strongest subordinates, including the Split King and the other Zombie Emperors. No one knows where they went."
Bushra paused before continuing.
"While all of this was happening... the werewolves, who had lived peacefully within the forests, eventually learned what the vampires had done. When the werewolves discovered what the vampires had nearly accomplished, they were furious. They believed the vampires had created a disaster that threatened every living race. So, without hesitation, the werewolves declared war on the vampires."
"A massive war soon spread across the entire planet."
She paused again. "While the two races were busy fighting each other, the zombies left behind by the Zombie Emperor began spreading across the world. They infected countless humans. Only the Awakened Humans survived, because once a person awakened, a zombie’s bite could no longer infect them."
Vikram listened quietly.
"But by then... It was already too late. Almost every ordinary human has been turned into a zombie."
Bushra sighed. "Our original mission had always been to protect humanity. But humanity had already disappeared. The werewolves and vampires were still consumed by their war, with neither side willing to stop. So the remaining Awakened Humans made a decision. We would no longer participate in their conflict. Instead, we built hidden strongholds and chose to survive peacefully, far away from the war."
After a brief silence, Bushra continued. "At the same time, the vampires gradually began losing the war. The first reason was that the Vampire Queen disappeared. She was the strongest existence among the vampires, the only one capable of standing on equal footing with the Werewolf Queen. After she went missing, the vampires lost their greatest source of strength."
"The second reason was the disappearance of humanity. Humans had always been the vampires’ primary source of blood and power. With ordinary humans gone, the vampires became weaker and weaker. Unable to continue the war, many vampire clans abandoned the battlefield and disappeared to unknown locations."
She looked at Vikram. "Today, vampires have become little more than legends. Only the werewolves, the remaining Awakened Humans, and the zombies still exist on this planet. The werewolves have made it their mission to eradicate every zombie they can find."
"As for us... we chose not to become involved. Our only goal is to survive. Because of that, there is neither friendship nor hatred between us and the werewolves. We simply stay out of each other’s way."
Hearing Bushra’s explanation, Vikram slowly nodded.
Many of the questions in his mind finally began connecting together.
"So that’s how it is..."
He finally understood why, during his first dungeon, he had encountered the Split King. That meant the Split King was one of the Zombie Emperor’s elite subordinates.
It also explained something else. "The Zombie Emperor... He must have discovered a way to open portals. Using them, he continuously sent zombies into other worlds to hunt humans."
Although countless zombies had been destroyed during those invasions, they had also succeeded in infecting many humans. As time passed, the zombie race continued to evolve. Eventually, they even discovered a method capable of infecting Awakened Humans.
The more Vikram thought about it, the more he realized just how terrifying the Zombie Emperor truly was. He wasn’t merely creating an army, he was expanding it across different worlds.
Then another thought surfaced in his mind. If even the Zombie Emperor feared the Vampire Queen... just how powerful was she? According to Bushra, she was the only existence capable of standing on equal footing with the Werewolf Queen. A being feared even by the Zombie Emperor... Yet she had mysteriously disappeared without leaving behind a single clue. Who exactly was she?
As Vikram was lost in thought, a familiar mechanical voice suddenly echoed in his mind.
[Ding!]
The long-silent System had finally responded.

[Mission Rewards]

After reading the System’s missions, Vikram carefully analyzed each one in his mind.
The first mission required him to eliminate every single zombie in the Southern Argenti Continent. To him, that didn’t seem particularly difficult. Since he was a werewolf this time, he could tear through them easily. It was only a matter of time before every zombie was wiped out.
The second and third missions were also straightforward. He had to return to his pack, reclaim his position, and eventually become its Alpha. After that, he would need to unite all the Argenti Packs throughout the Southern Forest and ascend as the King of the Southern Argenti Pack. Although the task sounded ambitious, Vikram didn’t consider it impossible.
The only mission that truly concerned him was the first side mission. He had to meet the Werewolf Queen. According to Bushra, she stood at the very peak of all werewolves and was one of the strongest beings in this world, the ruler of all werewolves. Reaching someone of her status would be far from easy.
Then his attention shifted to the final mission.
Locate the Treehouse.
Among all the objectives, this one was the most important to him. If he could find the Treehouse, he might be able to evolve it again like last time and unlock a new level.
Whatever the case, he had already made up his mind. The Treehouse had to be found.
After the System notifications faded from his vision, Vikram stayed silent for a while, carefully thinking about his next steps. He finally made up his mind.
It was time to return to his pack.
He looked at Bushra and spoke gently but firmly, "Bushra, I’ve decided. I need to go back to my pack soon."
Hearing those words, Bushra’s hands stopped moving. A clear sadness appeared on her face. In just these few days, she had grown deeply attached to him. The feeling of closeness she felt was strong, almost like that of a wife who didn’t want to be separated from her husband.
She lowered her gaze for a moment, biting her lip softly. But she knew that real love meant respecting the other person’s path. Taking a deep breath, she looked up at him with moist eyes and nodded.
"I understand..." she whispered, her voice full of emotion. "If returning to your pack is important to you, then I won’t hold you back."
She reached out and gently held his hand. "But... Can you please stay with us for one more week? Just seven days. Me, Sana, Pooja, Ayesha, Kavya, Neha... all of us want to spend proper time with you. We want to cook for you, talk with you, take care of you, and show you how much we love you. We want to create memories with you before you leave."
Bushra’s voice trembled slightly as she continued, "We know Kara and Carol will go with you since they are werewolves like you. But the rest of us... we don’t know when we’ll see you again. So please... give us this one week."
At that moment, Sana, who had been listening from the doorway, stepped inside. Pooja, Ayesha, Kavya, and Neha soon gathered as well, having heard the news. All of them looked at Vikram with the same mix of love, sadness, and hope in their eyes.
Sana smiled softly but her eyes were watery. "Just one week, Vikram. Let us pamper you properly."
Pooja nodded, blushing a little. "We’ll make your favorite foods every day."
Ayesha added quietly, "We just want to be close to you for a little longer."
Vikram looked at all their sincere faces and felt a warmth mixed with guilt in his chest. He slowly nodded.
"Alright," he said gently. "One week. I’ll stay with all of you for one week."
The girls’ faces lit up with joy and relief, even though sadness still lingered behind their smiles. They knew this week would be precious.
