This fucker... so I had to fight vampires in my last life? It was a miracle I survived as long as I did back then.

Liam’s eyes remained on the translucent panel for a few seconds before it slowly faded from his vision. His car continued smoothly down the freeway while Alexandra sat beside him, happily occupied with her new phone.

Her entire life had practically turned upside down within twenty-four hours. All her life, she had struggled with money and lived with a father who used to beat both her and her mother whenever he got drunk.

It was honestly a miracle she had managed to survive with her virtue intact for as long as she did. Last month, her mother had finally fallen into a coma and needed bypass surgery, leaving Alexandra with almost no options. In the end, she decided to find someone willing to sponsor her, and in exchange, she was prepared to give that person everything she had.

[New Side Mission: Give Alexandra as much money as she asks on her third time] [Skip for $2]

Huh? What kind of mission is this? Also, show me all the missions I currently have.

Liam narrowed his eyes at the sudden system notification. Give her as much money as she asked for? He had over fifty million sitting in the bank right now. Depending on what came out of Alexandra’s mouth, this mission could either cost him almost nothing or become ridiculously expensive.

The green panel stretched downward as multiple lines appeared one after another.

[New Side Mission: Give Alexandra as much money as she asks on her third time] [Skip for $2]

Damn, that’s a lot of side missions. Let’s clear them out one by one today.

"Alexandra, if I wanted to give you as much money as you wanted, how much would you take?"

"Huh? What kind of question is that?"

"I don’t know. Just tell me, how much money would you take?"

"F... Fifty... fifty thousand."

"Ask for more."

"More? A... a million dollars?"

"More. This is the last chance you have."

"Even more? Are you pranking me?"

"Nope. Just ask. This is your last chance to ask for as much as you can, baby."

"Don’t pressure me! Okay... give me ten million dollars."

Alexandra finally blurted out the number and leaned back proudly, as if she had just gathered every ounce of greed inside her body to come up with something completely outrageous.

Ten million dollars sounded so absurd to her that she was almost certain Liam would laugh and admit the whole thing was a joke. Liam, however, only shook his head in disappointment. She could have gotten fifty million out of him, yet somehow her greatest imaginable number stopped at ten.

Liam connected his phone to the car’s Bluetooth and immediately called his personal banker at Chase. Alexandra looked at him with a small smile, still having no idea who he was calling all of a sudden. As far as she was concerned, merely imagining herself owning ten million dollars was already entertaining enough.

"Hello? I see your business has already deposited over ten million dollars, so we can move forward with our plan and lend you the full one hundred million dollars we discussed."

"Daniel, sigh! I’m on speaker. You should ask before talking about confidential stuff over the phone."

"I’m sorry, sir."

Liam just shook his head. Alexandra, on the other hand, had completely frozen. Hearing ten million dollars mentioned so casually was already enough, but then Daniel immediately started talking about lending Liam another hundred million like it was some normal arrangement.

The brand-new phone in her hand suddenly didn’t look impressive anymore. Her fingers stopped moving across the screen, her throat went dry, and she slowly turned her head towards Liam while the numbers she had just heard kept repeating inside her mind.

"It’s alright. I’m with someone close. I’ll hand her the phone, and you’ll wire ten million into her account. I’ll write that cheque when I visit you for the deal."

"Very well, sir."

Liam gestured for Alexandra to speak, but she remained completely still. She just stared at him, her mind clearly refusing to accept that he was serious.

A few seconds ago, she thought he was only playing around with those ridiculous numbers, but now someone from his bank was waiting on the other end of the speaker, ready to actually transfer ten million dollars to her.

"I... I don’t need that much... I only need thirty-six thousand dollars for my mum’s operation... I’ll even return the ten thousand you gave me yesterday." SNIFF

Her voice choked near the end, and she quickly lowered her head as tears began gathering in her eyes. She didn’t even know how she was supposed to react anymore.

Her fingers clenched tightly around each other as she remembered how much of her self-respect she had swallowed just to ask for the bare minimum needed for her mother’s operation. She still had the money Liam had first given her, but that had never been enough to make this fear disappear.

Somewhere in the back of her mind, Alexandra had always believed that once Liam’s little hobby with her wore off, he might ask for everything back. But the thirty-six thousand dollars she had just asked for was different.

If he really gave it to her, she already knew she wouldn’t return it, couldn’t return it, even if she had to sell everything she had left or herself to repay him somehow. Her mother’s life was hanging on that operation, and compared to that, nothing else mattered.

"Relax. Just tell him your account number."

Liam gently patted her shoulder, trying to calm her down. He could tell she was thinking far too much about everything. Maybe if he had slowly given her money over time, it would have suited her conservative nature better, but instead, he had gone full blast and dropped ten million dollars on her at once.

"Sigh! Liam... Liam... how can I ever repay you? My account number is 546Q456261341341."

She pulled out her old phone and read the account number aloud for the banker to hear. Through the speakers, she could immediately hear the rapid tapping of a keyboard, Daniel taking down every number with complete seriousness.

"Alexandra Mae Noodle... Ma’am, is that you?"

"Yes."

"Alright. I’ve wired ten million dollars into your account. I’ve also upgraded your card’s per-transaction purchase limit to fifty thousand dollars."
