[WARNING: Another Powerful System Is in Close Proximity.]
A translucent green screen immediately popped up in front of Liam, just as he was about to say something to the Chinese dude who seemed to be role-playing as the protagonist.
[AMPLIFYING THE WARNING BY 10,000X...]
[Warning: The person in front of you is a protagonist from a different world. Taking any offensive action against him will temporarily make you a villain in his story.]
[Tip: Swallow the ’Perfect Son-in-Law System’ to regain 10% of the System’s energy.]
Seeing the red panel immediately amplify even the warning, Liam was a little shocked, but he quickly calmed down. He dismissed it after a single glance, keeping his expression steady. There was another system holder standing right in front of him, after all.
"Liam?..."
Clara clutched Liam’s hand as she was about to enter the elevator, but he wasn’t moving at all. She gave his hand another tug, putting more strength into it, yet she still couldn’t move him an inch. Liam was using his invisible [Cosmic Darkness of the Destroyed Universe] cape, keeping himself firmly in place while she looked back at him in confusion.
Liam wanted to test whether this cape gave him extraordinary strength as well. It had modified his body to let him fly at 300 mph, and eventually, he would be able to fly at the speed of darkness. If Liam was interpreting that correctly, he would eventually be faster than light.
Liam turned to Clara and gave her a reassuring smile. He wanted to take the elevator back down and be done with it. He had been a passive person all his life, and a sane one as well. No sane person got tangled up in another person’s business for no reason, but this was his second chance at life. His eyes returned to the guard, and the smile slowly faded from his face.
Sigh! Let’s see... He looked at her lecherously. I can’t ignore that, and I don’t want to be the passive person I used to be. Show me his status.

Look at that... Sigh! Fucking monster... Unlike Erto, who’s a side character... this guy’s status is off the charts.
"Let’s go... Clara."
Liam decided not to engage him right here. This person was just too powerful. Although Liam also had skills to counter him, strength was where this dude had him beaten badly.
His eyes lingered on the Strength attribute for another second before he dismissed the panel. The guy was so strong that Liam was afraid he wouldn’t be able to take even one punch from him. He gently squeezed Clara’s hand and stepped into the elevator with her, keeping himself between her and the guard.
"That’s right, go back... The Song family is here to do business, so trash like you should stay downstairs." [Speech: 999]
As the elevator doors were closing, Lin Tian threw out that final jab, his voice loud enough to reach them through the narrowing gap. Clara’s hand tightened around Liam’s, but Liam just smiled and let the doors close completely.
The guard’s smug face disappeared behind the metal doors, leaving the two of them alone with their faint reflections. Liam had already picked up a clue about where this guy came from.
The Song family... China’s Silverschild... The megacorporation that handles Chinese infrastructure projects for the government... No wonder.
The Silverschild family, which his wife from his past life belonged to, could be said to control parts of the US, if not the world. From oil fields to gold mines, there was almost nothing they weren’t involved in.
People even associated this ancient family with funding the World Wars. Liam knew enough about them to feel his jaw tighten at the memory, but he slowly relaxed it as he watched the floor number change above the doors.
Then there was the Song family... If the Silverschild family was an S-tier difficulty, the Song family was at least an A.
"Why are you smiling?"
Clara was shocked to see her boyfriend smiling even after hearing such trash talk. She turned toward him, searching his face for some sign that he was upset, but his smile looked almost pleased. She felt like she didn’t understand Liam all that well.
"Can’t you understand? The path to power is opening up to me."
Liam’s smile grew even broader. He had thought he could slowly take down the Silverschild family, starting with Erto and gaining EXP along the way. But even a son-in-law of the Song family was this powerful. There was no way he was going to reach the Silverschild family by continuing the way he had been. He glanced at his free hand and slowly closed it into a fist, remembering the ridiculous Strength attribute on Lin Tian’s panel.
I need to crush the smaller families... the ones that make up the world stage... I’ll crush him too, but first, I need to level up.
"Path to power? Whatever you say, Liam."
Hearing another absurd term from Liam, Clara just shook her head. She knew what he was saying must make sense somehow, but she wasn’t in the mood to make her head spin again.
She slipped her arm around his and leaned against him, letting him smile at whatever weird thing he was thinking about. She was a simple American teenager in love, and she wanted that to be her only status for now.
...
Liam and Clara sat in the bank’s lobby, waiting for the meeting to end. Clara was leaning against his shoulder while he casually watched people move between the counters.
Just then, a black Rolls-Royce Phantom glided past the large front windows and stopped near the entrance. Two more Rolls-Royces followed, along with several black Mercedes SUVs, the cars pulling up one after another until even the customers waiting in line turned to look.
The elevator opened a moment later, and several men in black suits stepped out first. Lin Tian followed beside a gorgeous woman wearing a fitted cream-colored suit, her long black hair resting neatly over one shoulder.
She walked with her chin slightly raised, holding a small handbag at her side, while Lin Tian leaned toward her and said something with a smile. The smug expression he had shown upstairs was gone, replaced by a warmth that made Liam raise an eyebrow.
The woman barely reacted, giving Lin Tian a brief glance before looking toward the waiting cars. A bank employee hurried ahead to hold the entrance door open, while one of the men outside opened the Phantom’s rear door.
Clara lifted her head from Liam’s shoulder to watch them pass, but Liam’s attention stayed on Lin Tian, who had already moved closer to the woman as they approached the exit.
"Is she pretty?"
"Yeah... he’s strong as fuck... wait, what?"
"What?!"
