There were still a few more days before school started so we were allowed to explore the school and familiarise ourselves with its facilities in the meantime.

Most students seemed content on just limiting their exploration to within the dorms and the market street while a few decided to explore the rest of the Academy where it was a sprawling city within the walls.

For myself, I also joined the explorations with my girls as we walked together, though I had the egg out this time and was just carrying it along with me.

There were whispers from the other students and I noted all of them seemed to be looking and pointing at me while they were whispering to each other as I walked past.

I’m pretty sure they were all wondering why I was carrying a big egg and walking around so casually with my girls.

Well... They can continue wondering because I don’t owe them an explanation, teehee~

With my girls surrounding me, we went to explore the rest of the market district where there were several different stores all lining up the streets beside the bazaar.

These stores here were most likely run by ’professionals’ unlike the stalls at the bazaar. And the things being sold were similar to what you might find in the market district of the big cities as well.

They not only had practical things that a mage living in Aerialla Academy might need like alchemy materials and reagents, there were also luxury stores selling clothes and even high class looking cafes too.

Even right now, I could see students who looked like they were nobles perusing the stores around the main street.

Incidentally, the side streets are where the more economical options are located so commoners could also shop here without feeling left out.

Our group was already pretty big so we stood out quite a lot even without the fact that I was carrying a big dragon egg in my arms.

"I’m surprised. This place doesn’t feel like a school," Minnera commented, her hands busy sketching in her sketchbook several different pictures of me.

Beside her, Lilith was also doing the same thing while she nodded in agreement, "This place is more like an entire city. And a really advanced one too. I think it’s like the city that was written in ’The Floating Isles Of Aeriadelle’."

Minnera paused and looked at her, "Oh, you’ve read that one?"

"Of course~ That’s one of Aster’s books isn’t it? I read all her books~"

Oh... Now that they mentioned it, this place really does look like the city I wrote about in that book.

It was a pretty interesting one even if I do say so myself. The main story was a group of explorers stumbling upon a group of floating islands with a magical city inside but no one living in it. They found automatons and other magical devices maintaining it and try to work out what happened to the original denizens of the city.

In the end, they found out that the people of the city tried to achieve immortality by giving up their organic bodies to fuse with the automatons they have created, only to find out that by doing so, they lost their humanity and became nothing more than automatons and could only function as programmed with no free will.

It was a pretty dark story too since the ending basically had one of the explorers betraying the group since he wanted to steal all the tech and magic for profit but that ended up causing the entire island to fall out of the sky and killing everyone.

Admittedly, it was one of the rare times I went to write a rather sad story but for some reason, people quite liked it.

Incidentally, that book has also been published here though it was still in a written format and Emilia had not gotten Minnera to draw any art for it yet. I’m not sure about the reception of that book here though, seeing there’s kind of a real life example of that place right here.

As we continued to walk through the place, a few shops seemed to have caught my girls’ eyes.

Delmare spotted a store selling musical instruments, Lisa found a rather quaint alchemy store, Minnera and Lilith discovered an art supplies store, Ira found a store that seemed to be displaying demonic artefacts, Tsara came across a store that was displaying various religious icons and idols and Emilia found a large trade store which... I believe it belonged to us.

All of them wanted to go and take a look so I decided that I might as well have a break at a nearby cafe and let them browse the stores they were interested in and they could join me once they were done.

We thus split up and the cafe had an outdoor seating area which I opted for and Katsuki and Tiara went into the store to help me place my order for sweets.

Odeta decided to go and visit the Amrap sisters at the bazaar so I ended up being left there alone with my egg that I was hugging in my lap.

I’m not bothered of course, seeing my girls enjoy themselves also brings me joy too. And seating out here outside the cafe under the fresh air of the floating island Academy feels really nice and--

"Look at this weirdo."

"I swear they get weirder every year. What the fuck even is that?"

I was brought out of my musings when a voice came from directly beside me.

Turning to the side, I found three male students wearing emerald green robes, which meant that they were third year students.

One was a Mahun, one was a Wrunch and the third was a Nekomata, all of them giving me condescending looks.

I turned back to look to the other side, checking if they were actually looking at someone else that was behind me instead.

"We’re talking about you, idiot. What the heck is even that? Some giant rock?" The Mahun guy laughed.

I spun my head back to look at him and tilted my head quizzically, "Do you guys have nothing else better to do? Or do you guys just have a habit of being assholes?"

The Wrunch immediately furrowed his brow and stepped up to me, "What was that, bitch? You looking to fight?"

I looked up at him without showing much reaction to his threat, "Is that alright? I mean... Is it really alright to fight in this Academy? There’s no rules against students fighting each other?"

"HA! You’re scared now, are you? The only thing people care about here is power and powerless people just have to suck it up when the people above them do what they want!"

I blinked at him, "So... This is a case of the strong doing what they can and the weak suffering what they must?"

The Wrunch seemed a little surprised by that, not at the words themselves but more that he found himself agreeing with it.

"Huh... That’s a nice ring to it. I like it. Yes, the weak here have to suffer what the strong demands of them. You’re pretty smart huh?"

I shrugged, "Maybe it’s not that I’m smart but you’re just dumb?"

That seemed to set him off as he pulled back and started muttering a spell with his hand outstretched.

Honestly, I expected him to grab me or something since he’s a Wrunch until I remembered this was technically a magic school so of course the people here would be using magic instead.

Too bad for him because I leapt towards him and introduced my knee to his face faster than he could finish chanting his spell.

I then used his body as a springboard and kicked off of him, sending him crashing to the ground while I did a flip in the air.

I landed on my feet while still carrying my egg and the Nekomata rushed towards me, his hand sparking with electricity and thrusting towards my face.

I only needed to lean to the side to avoid it before I swept his legs out from under him with a leg sweep, sending the cat boy crashing to the ground.

Before he could get up, I went ahead to give him a kick at his side, sending him flying towards the Wrunch that had just managed to push himself up on a knee and sending them tumbling onto the ground again.

I shifted my gaze to the Mahun guy and he was looking at the entire thing with wide eyes, too stunned to even move.

He finally noticed me staring at him and he quickly raised his hands, "Wait! We’re sorry! We’ll leave! We’ll leave!"

He then quickly dragged his two friends away, showing quite a surprising amount of strength.

Hmm... Thought he would have something more to say... Oh well.

I settled back into my seat again and ignored the stares from the other students around me, only to give them a pointed look when they didn’t stop staring to make them quickly avert their gaze.

Hmph... Where’s my sweets, Katsuki?
