"So you *do* know you trespassed on my territory first," Tan You’s smile slowly faded. "You came up here, destroyed my Array, and forced your way into my domain. Is it only now that you realize this is my territory?"

Yuan Zhen immediately prostrated himself. "My martial brother and I were reckless. Please forgive us, Senior. We are still new and inexperienced. I beg you to be merciful! My brother and I will leave the Shifang Mountains at once and never disturb your peace again."

Tan You glanced at him, then at the silent Yuan Ming. She suddenly formed a seal with her left hand, and the two young Cultivators collapsed. Tan You didn’t use a heinous Spell like a Soul Search; instead, she used a Soul Reading skill and quickly sifted through all their memories.

The small mouse darted out from behind Tan You and let out two squeaks, which meant, "Huanhuan, what are you going to do with these two?"

Tan You gazed down at the two young Cultivators lying limp outside the Array. "What else can I do? Defeat the juniors, and the seniors will show up. But the Tianyuan Sect... their ambitions are truly great."

As she spoke, Tan You swiftly erased their memories of her and implanted new ones. She wiped out any trace of her existence, as well as that of the God Trapping Array and everything related. Only then did she toss the two of them to the very edge of the Shifang Mountains.

’As for whether they could leave the Shifang Mountains unscathed, that will depend on how tough they are,’ Tan You thought nonchalantly, casually tossing the small, bronze bell in her hand.

It was true that she was human to the bone, but she was now in the body of a spiritual beast—the body’s original owner. ’One must act according to one’s station. Besides, spiritual beasts were living perfectly fine in their own territories. Why should they have to become the slaves of Cultivators?’

This wasn’t fair. At least, it was unfair to the Demon Clan. They all lived under the Heavenly Dao, so by what right was the Demon Clan considered inferior to Cultivators?

The small mouse clasped its paws. "I can’t believe that Yuan Ming was actually Qing Yuan’s master. Do you think he knew what Qing Yuan was up to in the Shifang Mountains?"

Tan You shook her head. "He probably doesn’t. I didn’t see anything about myself in Yuan Ming’s memories. Qing Yuan grew up in the Tianyuan Sect’s Spirit Beast Garden. After he reached the fifth rank, the Tianyuan Sect sent him to the Shifang Mountains."

"The master-servant contract can only sense life and death. Although it allows for sending messages, the methods of Human Clan Cultivators are too conspicuous. The Tianyuan Sect wouldn’t have dared to contact Qing Yuan recklessly."

"They must have sensed Qing Yuan’s death, which is why Yuan Ming came to the Shifang Mountains to investigate. He just didn’t expect to run into us the moment he arrived."

The small mouse’s eyes widened. "These Cultivators are horrible! Don’t they always say, ’those not of our kind are sure to have a different mind’? In their eyes, every part of a spiritual beast’s body is a treasure."

"Even if we cultivate, grow powerful, and learn to speak, they still see us as unworthy of being their equals."

Of course Tan You understood this. She took a deep breath. "A problem this big isn’t for us to solve. We just need to focus on what’s right in front of us."

The mouse continued, "There are quite a few contracted spiritual beasts in the Shifang Mountains. What should we do? If we let them take control of the Demon Realm, won’t we all be at the mercy of the Cultivators in the future?"

Tan You’s expression grew cold. "This is too big for us to handle alone. We have to let all the spiritual beasts know what’s happening."

The small mouse said, "Those enslaved spiritual beasts are actually quite pitiful. The master-servant contract is so tyrannical. Cultivators can take a spiritual beast’s life whenever they want. It’s just too cruel."

"It’s even more pitiful for the ones raised by Cultivators since birth."

Tan You said, "That’s why we have to find a way. A way to free the oppressed spiritual beasts."

The small mouse hopped. "So what’s our plan?"

But Tan You was in no rush. She took out Qing Yuan’s inner core, resting it in her palm to examine it closely. "What are you doing?" the small mouse asked curiously.

Tan You shooed it away. "Go play somewhere else. I’m going to study this master-servant contract Array."

One was the cultivation of an Eastern Xianxia world, the other a Magic Array from the Western Fantasy Continent. They belonged to different systems, but ultimately, both could be reduced to mathematical problems.

Tan You stared at the master-servant contract’s sigil, slowly getting lost in thought. The small mouse, true to its word, didn’t disturb her. It found a spot to curl up, only opening its eyes occasionally to peek at her.

Conveniently, Tan You had just endured the Heavenly Tribulation for the Divinity Transformation Stage, and it was not a good time for her to use her Mana. She decided to use the time to study the Array while also focusing on healing her injuries from the tribulation.

Once immersed in her study of the Array, Tan You easily forgot to eat or sleep. Fortunately, she had already reached the stage of Fasting and no longer needed three meals a day like a mortal. Otherwise, she might have starved herself.

Only after she had completely deciphered the entire master-servant contract did Tan You begin to modify it. But just as she started, a bolt of Heavenly Thunder suddenly descended from the sky, smashing right into her meditation chamber.

Tan You glanced up at the large hole blasted through the roof of her chamber, then back at the master-servant contract Array floating before her. A slight smile touched her lips. "Even if you play favorites, you shouldn’t so blindly favor the Human Clan."

"We all live in the same world, yet you are far too harsh on the Demon Clan."

A few more rumbles of thunder echoed across the sky, but Tan You just narrowed her eyes. "It’s no use getting angry. By what right should spiritual beasts be slaughtered at will? It’s not fair. We have to fight back."

"Only when we beat them into submission will they stop daring to bully spiritual beasts. When a human kills a spiritual beast, it’s called ’carrying out justice for the heavens.’ But when a spiritual beast kills a human, it’s a ’heinous crime.’ Is that fair?"

After saying her piece, Tan You fell silent and lowered her head to continue studying the Array. Who said the master-servant contract had to have a Cultivator as the master and a spiritual beast as the servant? She was determined to change that.

If one day the spiritual beasts were the ones to master this contract, then it would be anyone’s guess who was contracting whom.

Thinking of the future, Tan You couldn’t help but smile. It wasn’t that she was betraying the Human Clan. This was simply the reality of the world. Where was there ever peaceful coexistence between Cultivators and spiritual beasts?

Not to mention, Cultivators would go so far as to seduce spiritual beasts just to obtain the rare treasures of the Demon Realm. The resulting Half-demons were accepted by neither the Human Clan nor the Demon Realm. In the end, it was almost always the spiritual beasts who got the short end of the stick.

’Half-demons...’ Tan You frowned slightly. She had never met one, but she had seen them in Yuan Ming and Yuan Zhen’s memories, and they were truly pitiful. With nowhere to go after birth, they were forced to wander aimlessly.

If they were lucky enough to inherit the talents of only one side, they might be able to scrape by. But if they inherited the talents of both the Human and Demon Clans, the only thing awaiting them was death from their rampaging bloodlines.

So, after she reversed the master-servant contract, she would also have to find a way to give these Half-demons a chance at survival. Tan You didn’t consider herself a saint. She was doing it all for the intelligence points.
