Who Designed This Underworld Dungeon?
Chapter 1715 - 1016: Gathering Place_2The scenery here reminded him of the Initial Firestove, yet there was a fundamental difference.
Even the Initial Firestove, when the Initial Fire was nearing its extinguishment, didn’t have such a rich apocalyptic atmosphere as here.
He was really curious now, wondering what magical place this so-called gathering point was. Just looking at the name, it sounded like a vagrants’ gathering place.
There were ashes everywhere. He couldn’t understand the structure here; it seemed that all the gathered buildings jointly formed the foundation of the gathering point, but there were things like mountains here, and he felt like he was standing on the highest peak.
Leon tried to look into the distance, and what he saw was scenery lower than himself. He noticed indistinct structures on the distant mountains, but they were too far away for him to discern what style they were.
"Forget it, I’ll take one step at a time."
He advanced while exploring the surrounding buildings; however, most structures had decayed and collapsed to the extent of being unexploitable, and merely approaching them posed a danger.
Nevertheless, the close inspection wasn’t without gains. Leon discovered a common point: all the buildings bore the marks of time, as if they had drifted in the long river of time for ages.
Moreover, these buildings weren’t just brutally smashed together. It was strange, but if he were to describe them himself, he’d use the word "fusion."
The buildings seemed to be drawn by an invisible gravity, continuously converging towards a center, and signs of fusion appeared among them during the pull.
This novel phenomenon caught Leon’s fascination, giving him the feeling of stepping into a history museum, completely forgetting his goal for today—storming Losrik City to hunt down Prince Losrik.
Nevertheless, this delightful museum visit was eventually interrupted as expected.
A sound like viscous liquid writhing and bursting came from not far away, making Leon tighten his grip on his weapon and turn his head. On the gray-white ashes, a dark purple "fountain" suddenly appeared from nowhere, spurting what seemed to be thick yet ethereal "liquid."
What kind of trap is this, some sort of area trap?
No, the following events negated Leon’s guess, for he saw the erupted liquid forming puddles after landing, and bizarre creatures crawled out of those puddles.
Those were monsters known as Wet Humanoids.
Their bodies were composed of the sediment of moist souls, Deep elements constituting dry humanoids with attributes of petrification and woodification, resembling humans but with essential differences.
They had nearly lost the ability to stand, attacking any entity possessing humanity driven by Deep’s longing.
Using small sickles in their hands as weapons to harvest humanity!
There were at least a dozen Wet Humanoids at the scene; they gathered and crawled towards Leon while convulsing, presenting a situation particularly draining on sanity.
Additionally, a Wet Humanoid with a long wooden staff managed to stand and shot a mass of moist Deep conglomerate at Leon.
"Finally, monsters appear."
Leon was not frightened by the bizarre motions of these monsters. Honestly, he had seen even more nauseating monsters, and no matter how convulsed the Wet Humanoids were, they couldn’t surpass the Maggot Men of the Deep Church in disgust.
He was merely curious about the appearance of Wet Humanoids because, if he remembered correctly, he seemed to have seen the material constituting those monsters’ bodies in the Deep Church.
And the Deep conglomerate shot by Wet Humanoids was even more familiar; both the Deep Bishop Group and Elderly once used it as an attack method, while the Oath Taker of Guardian of Devouring God could also wield magic to manipulate this substance for attacks.
It’s said to be Deep formed by condensing numerous souls, why did it appear here? And so many grotesque monsters were created.
Leon didn’t care anymore, taking out the Bordeaux Hammer and smashing it towards the enemy. Although there were many enemies, their frail bodies seemed more fragile than Animated Corpses, such that even gently placing the hammer on their waists would cause them to break. So he didn’t exert full force but first hammered the approaching Deep conglomerate.
With a single hit, the dark purple moist conglomerate was scattered on the spot, liquid splashing onto his hand and even arm, instantly sending a chill directly into his heart, colder than contact with Ice Magic, with not a hint of warmth.
Leon wasn’t impacted by this, swinging the hammer horizontally at the enemies.
Wet Humanoids, disorganized in their crawling, gathered together, perfect for obliterating them in one sweep, and the scene would surely be incredibly satisfying.
"Clang—"
With a hammer strike, the hammer recoiled with a peculiar sensation.
It was like smashing into a cotton ball soaked in water and mixed with sawdust and stones, making it difficult to exert force.
The Wet Humanoids struck from the side were flung away with tremendous force, crashing down in heaps like bags soaked full of water.
Yet, despite such results, Leon didn’t show a satisfied expression; instead, his face turned grave.
Because, none of the Wet Humanoids died.
Despite appearing even frailer than Animated Corpses, they all survived his strike?
What a joke!
Leon unleashed his full strength, smashing at the nearest Wet Humanoid, and with a "splurt," its head exploded instantly, yet the sensation was still unsatisfying, even cumbersome.
Despite their frail appearance, their body strength exceeded imagination; one mustn’t judge by appearance.
"What kind of thing is this," Leon groaned, hammering the Wet Humanoid before him, "Why is it so tough?"
And just then, he was shocked to find he couldn’t move the Wet Humanoid gripping the ground; its sturdiness matched that of the Human’s Pus!
The Wet Humanoids suddenly burst in unison as if coordinated, their prone bodies leaping towards Leon like bursting bullfrogs.
With such terrifying things pouncing at him, any ordinary person would be startled, but Leon instinctively used Hound Step to escape the encirclement, wasn’t that easy?
"Rip—"
A sound of fabric tearing suddenly filled his ears as he felt a chill in his hind leg. Just as he turned his head, he found himself stiffened, and the Hound Step he’d successfully executed failed on the spot.
Behind him, an unnoticed half-bodied Wet Humanoid slashed through his leg armor with a small sickle, smoothly as cutting tofu, the blade even severing his tendon.
However, his stiffness wasn’t due to leg injury but resembled an effect he was familiar with.
It was like being hit by Ring Capture!
"What’s going on!"
The stiffness was momentary, and Leon instantly swung his hammer at the Wet Humanoid above; since escape failed, he chose to fight head-on. He knocked several monsters away, yet tiny sickles still fell upon him.
Immediately, the pain of body cutting surged within him, but more gripping was the continuous incoming stiffness.
No mistake, the stiffness resembled Ring Capture!
This group of Wet Humanoids has something odd, or their small sickles are strange?
In this suffocating stiffness, the Deep conglomerate fired by a Wet Humanoid had reached his front, and he watched helplessly as it drew nearer without a move.
"Clap!"
The Wet Humanoids claimed Leon’s first kill.
