Who Needs a CEO? I Choose Stardom

Chapter 225 - 183: That Could Work! How Is That Possible?

Ni Guangli was a bit confused. Why had she made a special call to him? What did she really want?

Wei Shuojie knew he would say that and sighed.

"Sigh, I used to think the same way, but living like this is exhausting for her! I’m really worried her body won’t be able to take it! Plus, she’s come across so many great opportunities. But because of her personality, she refuses to reach out and grab them, even when they’re right there for the taking!"

After listening for a while, Ni Guangli finally understood what she was trying to say.

"Oh? And what kind of opportunities might those be?"

The fact that Wei Shuojie had the courage to approach him meant this wasn’t some underhanded scheme. Ni Guangli immediately relaxed.

"Bingbing likes to write essays in her free time. We’ve all read them and think they’re fascinating, so we suggested she get them published. Later, she could even auction off the original manuscripts and donate the proceeds to charity. It would kill several birds with one stone—a win-win for her reputation and finances, with no downside. But she insists she’s not good enough."

Ni Guangli recalled the document he had received yesterday.

To be honest, even without his fatherly bias, his daughter’s writing was excellent. Her narration was clear, she effortlessly wove in all sorts of anecdotes, used idioms with perfect ease, and had a superb grasp of pacing. Anyone who read it would say the author was a person of great cultural depth.

"Alright, I understand. I’ll talk to her about it when I have time."

How shrewd was Ni Guangli?

Two people had now approached him, both trying to persuade his daughter to publish her work. It was impossible that there wasn’t something fishy going on.

The situation was a bit complicated, full of scheming, so naturally, he wouldn’t easily promise anything substantial.

After they hung up, Ni Guangli called for his assistant.

"What’s on my schedule for the near future?"

"Boss, this week you have three livestreams, five meetings, the new project..."

Ni Guangli frowned and cut him off. "I’m almost seventy. How come my schedule is so packed?"

The assistant was stunned.

’Didn’t you set up this entire schedule yourself, sir? I’m just the one who records it and reminds you on time!’

Oh well. The boss’s ambition was like Schrödinger’s cat; it was normal for him to want to slack off occasionally.

After all, he didn’t have a spendthrift son to support at home. There was no need to work himself to the bone.

The assistant chose his words carefully. "Are you thinking of taking a break for a while, sir? Where would you like to go? I can book your tickets."

"Mhm. It’s time to hand over the preparations for the new project to the others. Call them over tonight, and I’ll delegate the tasks. As for the livestreams, I’m bored of always streaming myself cooking. Tomorrow, I’m going to Beijing to livestream my daily life with my daughter."

The assistant’s eyes widened. "Didn’t you used to say you were afraid of having a bad influence on Sister Bing?"

"What influence? It’s not like I’m some shady character who can’t be seen in public. Besides, I’m her real dad, not some sugar daddy. What ’bad influence’ is there to be afraid of? You silly kid, hurry up and get it done! Stop wasting time with pointless questions!"

Alright then. The boss’s ’bad influence’ was also Schrödinger’s bad influence. He probably didn’t even know himself if it was good or bad.

Boss Ni called over his six dutiful and filial apprentices. With a sigh, he told them he missed his daughter, and without a second word, they took the burden off his shoulders.

"Master, you should have gone to stay with our Junior Sister long ago. It’s not that we’re tired of you, but you should also feel for her, living all alone out there. It isn’t easy."

The apprentices all nodded in agreement, and Ni Guangli nodded as well. "Then I’ll go stay with her for a while. I’m leaving things here to you all."

"Don’t worry, Master! We’re all grown men in our forties and fifties!"

Seeing his apprentices thump their chests confidently and knowing they were all reliable, Ni Guangli felt reassured. The very next day, he left for Beijing.

Since he wasn’t planning on doing any product promotion streams, and because it would be inconvenient staying at his daughter’s place, he didn’t bring his assistant. He set off alone with his luggage.

When he arrived at his daughter’s residential complex, he knew she was busy filming on set, so he didn’t call her. He just used his key to let himself in.

Once inside, he made a simple meal for himself. After eating, he thought for a moment, then went upstairs and opened the door to the study.

He had always respected his daughter’s privacy and disliked entering her room ever since she was little. Acting so sneakily felt a bit strange.

But what Wei Shuojie had said was too alarming. He wouldn’t believe it without verifying it for himself.

Ni Bingyan’s study was very tidy. By the window stood a desk and a chair, and all four walls were lined with floor-to-ceiling, natural-wood bookcases with glass doors.

Inside the bookcases, except for the one directly across from the door which held more than a dozen trophies, every other shelf was packed to the brim with books.
