Who Needs a CEO? I Choose Stardom

Chapter 226 - 183: That’s an Idea! + How Is That Possible?

Ni Guangli entered the room and opened the bookcase doors one by one. The books inside were labeled and numbered just like in a library, all categorized and neatly arranged.

The collection was eclectic, and many showed signs of being read. Nothing too out of the ordinary.

However, to the right of the entrance, one bookcase was filled to the brim with scripts. He pulled one out at random and opened it. It was covered in all sorts of annotations, but there were also codes he couldn’t decipher. A closer look revealed they corresponded to a notebook.

Looking up, he found over a dozen notebooks. He took one down and flipped it open. If the date in the margin was correct, she had filled the one in his hands in less than half a month.

Ni Guangli was stunned.

’This is so unhealthy for my daughter!’

’So many young people are dying from overwork these days. We have to be careful!’

And this was only part of it.

Next, he saw two storage bins stacked in a corner.

He opened them to find they were full of completed practice tests.

No wonder. Besides a calligraphy brush holder, an inkstone, and a brush washer on her desk, there was also a high-end printer.

"Why doesn’t she even have a computer?"

A closer look revealed the printer supported wireless printing from a phone.

"What on earth is she studying all day..."

He randomly flipped through one of the practice tests and instantly felt dizzy.

’What kind of writing is this? It’s all Greek to me!’

Leaving the study, Ni Guangli went downstairs. Seeing books and notebooks with pens tucked inside scattered all over the living room, he quietly tidied up before sitting on the sofa with a sigh.

His daughter used to be a total slacker. She only started working herself this hard after she and Jiang Sheng broke up.

The emotional impact was definitely a major factor.

’But my own hard work has probably put a lot of pressure on her, hasn’t it?’

’After all, I’m still diligently building my career at my age. My daughter probably doesn’t want to lose to me!’

His mind was a mess, but when his daughter got home, he didn’t let it show. Instead, his sharp eyes began to observe her quietly.

His daughter was, as expected, pleasantly surprised to see him. After eating the elaborate dinner he’d prepared, she took the initiative to clean up the kitchen.

"Dad, I still have a few things to finish up, so I’m going to get back to it!"

Sure enough, after watching less than half an hour of TV with him, she was on pins and needles and made an excuse to go to her study.

Ni Guangli knew she usually went to bed at ten. It was already nine, so if she wanted to study, she’d have to make the most of her time. He used the excuse of bringing her a glass of warm milk to peek into the study.

Just as he’d thought, his daughter was happily working through practice tests, while the printer was WHIRRRING, spitting out new ones.

"I’ve been learning office software recently. I’m printing these problems out to take to the set tomorrow..."

Seeing the awful look on her dad’s face, Ni Bingyan asked with concern, "Dad, what’s wrong?"

Ni Guangli gritted his teeth. "Other people bring lunch boxes to work, but you bring practice tests?"

"I often have long breaks between my two scenes, and I’ve already memorized all my lines. Wouldn’t that time just be wasted otherwise? You can never have too many skills, Dad!"

Seeing his daughter look at him with an expression that said, ’How can you not understand something so simple?’, Ni Guangli took a deep breath and put on a pitiful face.

"I finally made time to come see you, and you won’t even spend a little more time with me. Sigh!"

Ni Bingyan scratched her head. He had a point.

So, the next evening, she didn’t go up to the study. Instead, she sat next to him with her headphones on, reading beautiful German essays on a foreign language app on her phone.

German grammar is much more complex than English. She had been studying it for a long time but still couldn’t communicate fluently with a German person. Whenever she had a spare moment, she would study for a while.

This time, Ni Guangli was utterly speechless.

On the third night, he estimated when she would finish work and went straight to the film set to pick her up.

’This child really has no idea how to have fun if she thinks studying is enjoyable. If she keeps this up, she’ll burn herself out!’

’Publishing and all that is a minor issue. I have to break her of this bad habit!’

So, Boss Ni, a man approaching seventy, personally took his daughter to a dance club.

’How can a young person not go clubbing?’

’Wasting her wonderful youth on practice tests... it truly broke her old father’s heart!’

’Time to dance! She has to dance!’

From a block away, Ni Bingyan could already hear the deafening music. Her dad, probably thinking her Volkswagen wasn’t impressive enough, had picked up a flashy, bright red Maserati a few days ago. As he pulled up to the club’s entrance, a valet immediately ran over.

"D-Dad, what are you... what are you doing?"

Ni Bingyan was about to lose her mind.

’A bunch of people crammed together, jumping and dancing around like they’ve got a hole in their heads. It’s a waste of time and money. There’s no way I’m doing that!’

However, her dad had a plan.

"I’m so old. What if I get too excited, have a brain hemorrhage, and collapse? I could get trampled to death and no one would even know."

Fine! Ni Bingyan had no choice but to follow him inside.
