Si Xu flipped her over.
His gaze fell, landing on the restraining bracelet.
Then, he gently but firmly lifted Jian Yu’s chin.
"It suits you perfectly, as I thought. Be a good girl. You can’t run."
Jian Yu tilted her face up, staring at him blankly.
The man’s golden hair was a mess, and his eyes were fixed on her like a predator. His face was flushed with a lustful heat. He looked disheveled and deranged, yet so beautiful it took her breath away.
A pair of translucent, glass-like eyes stared straight at her, threatening to pull her into their depths.
Jian Yu’s breath trembled, her mind growing fuzzy.
No matter how much disdain she might profess, few people were truly immune to a handsome man.
She was a simple person; she couldn’t refuse beauty.
But as the corners of her lips started to curve up, she thought of Ling Yanzhi and Xi Yu and unconsciously pressed them together.
’Am I being a bit of a player?’
Jian Yu turned her head away, her exhaled breath inexplicably hot. "Do you have any idea what you’re doing? Ayan and the others are still waiting for me."
"Don’t mention them." Si Xu’s hand closed around her neck, the pressure just enough to keep her from escaping, but not enough to choke her.
The man bent down, his features hazy and almost holy, silhouetted by the halo of light behind him.
He stared into Jian Yu’s eyes, his voice deep. "You’ve ruined me. You’re the one who turned me into this."
A bitterness tinged Si Xu’s gaze.
He loosely gripped both of Jian Yu’s wrists, his thumbs slowly sliding into her palms, caressing them softly.
It was a cold autumn, yet the air was unnaturally sweltering.
Jian Yu’s ears burned, and her limbs felt weak.
She was certain her body hadn’t come into contact with any toxins.
She sensed something was wrong, yet she couldn’t muster the will to resist, as if all of this was perfectly normal.
It was as if a command had been planted in her brain: Si Xu was her lover, and whatever he did was right.
She couldn’t summon even a shred of strength.
Jian Yu went limp as an arm wrapped around her waist. "I don’t quite understand. This is only the third time we’ve met."
Si Xu chuckled softly, his fingers tracing her waist.
"If you can’t understand it, then don’t think about it. From now on, your every breath, your every thought, will be under my control."
"Just like this."
The Star Brain flashed with blue light, and a series of private photos appeared on the screen.
They were all solo pictures of Jian Yu; everyone else had been erased.
In various states of being ravaged and forced, pouting and moaning softly, her seductive charm was on full display.
Si Xu stared without blinking, his eyes filled with raw desire. "You just need to blossom as beautifully as you do in these photos. Your soul trembling, breaking down and begging for mercy."
Jian Yu: "..."
’This pervert.’
The smoke gathering at her fingertips dissipated, retracting back into place.
’Whatever. I’ll play along for a few days.’
’I’ll give Ayan and the others a chance to be the heroes who save the damsel in distress.’
’Wouldn’t that make their feelings for me just shoot right up?’
Si Xu lifted Jian Yu into his arms, bridal style.
"Do you hate me? It doesn’t matter. Even if you hate me, you’ll obediently stay by my side."
The corners of his eyes were tinged with a faint crimson, adding a touch of stunning beauty to his cold features.
His voice was ethereal, like both a vow and a prayer. "I am the only one who can possess you. Everything about you is mine."
His body spun halfway around, and the scene changed again.
A mirror, a hot spring pool, a windowsill.
Jian Yu looked at the unfamiliar surroundings, unable to spot any direction of escape.
Her body sank into the water. Jian Yu leaned weakly against Si Xu’s chest as he carried her to the center of the hot spring.
Uncovered, her pale white calves were held fast by the man’s arms.
A layer of mist clouded her eyes. Her pupils lost their focus, vacant and helpless.
The dense, hazy steam made her drowsy. Her powerless legs dangled in the water with nothing to stand on.
The thoughts in her head were muddled and dizzy; she couldn’t grasp or analyze any of them.
Ah Qi flew across the surface of the pool and landed on Si Xu’s shoulder.
It spread its wings, its long feathers obscuring Jian Yu’s dazed face.
’The thing the Clan Leader left behind really works well. The baby looks so mesmerized.’
’Master, have fun for these seven days. I’ll keep an eye on the tournament grounds.’
’If there’s a problem with the Illusion Technique, I’ll call for you ahead of time. The Feather Clan is incredibly fast. This distance shouldn’t be a problem for you, Master.’
Jian Yu narrowed her eyes.
In her vision, a Yuge took on Si Xu’s appearance and gracefully departed.
’I’ve only ever seen Ling Yanzhi merge with his Soul Beast. A Soul Beast turning into a person... this is a new one.’
"Do you like it here?" Si Xu grabbed Jian Yu’s hand, his breathing accompanied by low, hoarse pants.
The hot breath escaping his lips formed faint wisps of mist in the air.
"Cry a little more wantonly. Look at me with your most wronged, most pitiful eyes. Take it slow. I want to savor this."
...
"Chief, Yu is missing."
Shen Gu had been searching with his men for ten minutes before he hurried back to the chief’s platform.
He looked up and was met with Xi Yu’s eyes, which were so grim they could have dripped water.
The more normal Xi Yu appeared, the more abnormal the situation was.
He asked with methodical clarity, "What happened today? Where did she go? Who did she run into?"
Shen Gu had a suspect in mind.
He pointed his finger directly. "It has to be Yan Yu! He’s the only one we had a conflict with today."
Xi Yu’s face was dark. "Who is Yan Yu?"
Shen Gu was stunned. He hadn’t expected Xi Yu to hold others in such low regard.
He opened his mouth. "He’s... that guy from the Yan’s Wolf Clan. He’s been making a name for himself these past few years. Emperor Wolf Star is pouring all its resources into cultivating him, claiming they’re going to create a genius."
Xi Yu had a vague memory of the name but couldn’t put a face to it.
Shen Gu somehow managed to understand Xi Yu’s cold, indifferent expression.
As he led the way, he explained, "The one with the mask. I don’t know what he looks like either. He mocked us and tried to pressure Yu. I think Yu hit him, so he probably holds a grudge."
At that moment, Yan Yu was in the school infirmary.
A tentacle suddenly seized him and slammed him against the wall.
"Release her."
Yan Yu cried out in agony as pain shot through his body.
He activated his Soul Beast Cover.
CRACK. It shattered.
His spiritual power counterattacked, but it dissipated with a BOOM before it even reached Xi Yu.
Yan Yu knew he’d been put on a pedestal and had lost his way a bit, but he never imagined he couldn’t even take a single hit.
He scrambled up from the floor, a vein throbbing on his temple. "Release who?"
Xi Yu was expressionless. "My baby."
Yan Yu’s face darkened. "Speak plainly."
Then a thought struck him, and his face went pale.
He sneered, "Jian Yu is missing? Maybe she’s off with some other man. Argh!"
The tentacle shot straight through Yan Yu’s shoulder, punching a large hole.
"Release her." Xi Yu shot him a cold glance, his voice a threat. "Believe it or not, even if I killed you, Emperor Wolf Star wouldn’t dare touch me."
Shen Gu rushed over.
He looked at Xi Yu awkwardly. "The infirmary staff said he’s been here receiving Healing the whole time. He never left."
Xi Yu frowned. "It wasn’t you?"
Yan Yu gritted his teeth in pain, squeezing the words out. "I did go looking for Jian Yu, but it was just to ask for her help with my sister’s Contract."
Yan Yu’s tone had weakened, all his previous arrogance gone.
He had still underestimated just how much Jian Yu meant to them.
Xi Yu’s face remained cold, but a flicker of panic crossed his eyes.
’If it wasn’t Yan Yu, then who was it?’
’Did Jian Yu run off on her own?’
Xi Yu sullenly raised his hand and punched another large hole in Yan Yu’s other shoulder.
"If I ever find out you’ve provoked Jian Yu again, I won’t let you off."
