Why is This Troublemaker So Damn Rich?

Chapter 115: True Feelings Money Can Buy

Huang Lingyu, of course, wouldn’t refuse. Wasn’t money the whole reason she worked in a place like this?

She had let Yang Hui have her all to himself for the entire evening. Even though he’d already tipped her 2,200, he was under no obligation to give more.

Still, who could refuse a man who was handsome, wealthy, and generous?

’Compared to Yang Hui, Zheng Lei is a complete loser. Ugh, I have to see him again tomorrow. It’s so damn annoying, and I can’t even think of a good excuse to get out of it. I just need to make money, fast. As soon as I earn enough to pay back everything he’s given me over the years, I’ll be free.’

"Lingling, did you get a red envelope too?"

The KTV hostess asked when she saw her tap her phone. A CHING! sound indicated that money had clearly arrived in her account.

"Mhm, 3,000."

The KTV hostess’s and Huanhuan’s eyes went red with envy. "He’s that generous?"

Huanhuan impatiently unlocked her phone, but there was nothing. She quickly sent a message to Sun Tao: "Darling, don’t forget about me~"

A moment later, Sun Tao replied: "Of course I remember you. I’ll remember you forever."

Huanhuan had waited all this time for that reply, thinking, ’Show me some appreciation! Show me something!’

Another message from Sun Tao arrived. Huanhuan opened it—just more sentimental crap about how much he missed her. Her phone then buzzed nonstop with over a dozen more messages, but not a single red envelope among them. Huanhuan didn’t even bother reading the content anymore. She huffed angrily, "Who the fuck wants to be ’remembered’ like this? If you can use money, don’t just run your mouth. What a cheapskate."

---

The next day, Yang Hui didn’t wake up until 11 AM. Wenren Meng had taken Du’Er to an amusement park, leaving a note for him and keeping his meal warm.

Wenren Du’Er had wanted him to come along, but she probably knew he had gotten home very late last night, so she didn’t disturb his rest. The little girl must have been pretty disappointed.

After washing up, he ate his breakfast for lunch and picked up his phone to see a slew of unread messages.

There was a message from a KTV hostess asking if he’d made it home. He couldn’t be bothered to reply. It wasn’t like she was genuinely concerned.

To his surprise, Huang Lingyu had also sent a message asking if he’d gotten home. He thought for a moment before replying, "Got home. Didn’t sleep well."

Her reply came in, the equivalent of a "confused face" meme: "Why didn’t you sleep well?"

He typed back, "Because I didn’t get to sleep."

She sent the same confused meme again. "Didn’t get to sleep with what?"

"With you."

Her only response was an "embarrassed face" meme.

Huang Lingyu was in her dorm room, putting on makeup and texting Yang Hui, when her phone suddenly rang.

She glanced at the caller ID, hesitated for a moment, then answered, "Zheng Lei."

"Lingyu, I’m at the gate to your complex. Can I come up to your room?"

"Just wait for me at the gate. I have a roommate here, so it’s not a good time."

"What’s not a good time? It’s not like you share a room."

"Just wait for me at the gate. I’ll be right down."

She hung up. She was renting a two-bedroom apartment with a coworker; they each had their own room and split the rent.

’Ugh, this is a nightmare. Going shopping with him is always an ordeal. Before, we were long-distance and it wasn’t easy for him to come to Qingzhou. Now that we’re in the same city, what am I going to do?’

’I just wish I could save up enough money in one go to pay back everything he’s given me over the years. Then we’d be even, and I’d be free.’

After his meal, Yang Hui drove to the main Xinyue Square location. He wanted to check out the spot for his "Zen" store, which was supposed to be right next to "NLB." The location was, without a doubt, perfect. Still, this was his first store. Even though President Tian had arranged everything, and his people had surely considered all the angles, Yang Hui couldn’t be so irresponsible as to not even know what his own storefront looked like.

He hadn’t called Yang Na to join him. They’d spent a long time yesterday discussing his ideas on company and store management, and she was busy putting it all in writing, standardizing work procedures for easier implementation by the staff.

The NLB location was about to begin its basic renovations, so the previous tenant had already moved out ahead of schedule, coordinated by the mall. To preserve the mall’s aesthetics, construction hoardings had already been erected around the storefront.

’Looks like I’m getting another freebie from Xinyue Square,’ he thought.

A high-quality hoarding like this, covering such a large area, would have cost him at least 20,000 yuan to build himself. The store was, after all, a corner unit in the main atrium with a curved facade stretching for dozens of meters.

He glanced at the target location for Zen next door. It was 200 square meters, with a 20-meter-wide facade spanning three structural bays. The layout was a perfect rectangle. He truly couldn’t find a single fault with the spot President Tian had secured for him.

The current tenant was a gold and jewelry store—a client capable of paying high rent. For Xinyue Square to swap them out for his clothing brand, especially on such favorable terms, represented a massive loss in rental revenue for the mall.

He was getting thirsty, and there was a Starbucks right next to NLB. He went in, ordered a latte, and looked for a place to sit. The café was nearly full. He spotted an open seat at a small table for two, opposite a girl who was staring down at her phone, making it impossible to see her face.

"Is this seat taken?"

He approached the table. If the seat was free, he’d just sit for a bit before leaving.

She shook her head, glancing up at Yang Hui for a brief moment before her eyes dropped back to her screen, as if she hadn’t seen him at all. She seemed to be in the middle of texting.

In that brief instant she looked up, he got a clear look at her face. You often see beautiful, fashionable women in a Starbucks, but he had never seen anyone *this* stunning before.

Shen Meng was gorgeous, practically flawless, but compared to the girl before him, she seemed to fall just a little short.

She had a delicate, oval-shaped face. Her skin glowed with a pearly luster under the warm café lighting, bringing to mind the "pristine purity of the Southern Tianshan foothills" described in the works of Xu Zhengxi.

The elegant line of her long neck disappeared into the collar of an oversized, camel-colored top, exuding an air of effortless style.

Even seated, her excellent proportions were obvious. She clearly worked out regularly; her perfectly angled shoulders made the simple top’s silhouette look high-fashion.

As she texted, she lifted a hand to brush back a stray wisp of hair, the minimalist watch on her wrist glinting with a cool light.

He watched her from the corner of his eye, realizing she was treating him like he was invisible.

He pulled out his own phone, planning to leave after a short rest, but just then, Sun Tao called.

The guy sounded like he’d also just woken up, still basking in the afterglow of the previous night. He was practically gloating to Yang Hui, "Huanhuan was so sweet to me. Last night, she kept sending me messages—she started it all—telling me over and over not to forget her."

"Just take it with a grain of salt. Don’t get serious."

"Sigh, A Hui, you don’t get it. Feelings are a strange and wonderful thing. I think she’s actually caught feelings for me."

Yang Hui just chuckled, not bothering to argue. ’Anyone could buy her "real feelings" for 1,600 yuan. Spend a few thousand more, and you could probably buy her "true self," too.’

"A Hui, that dude Zheng Lei is treating everyone to dinner tonight, and he told me to invite you. At first, I figured you’d never go. But then he mentioned Huang Lingyu will be there, and I figured you should probably make an appearance."

Sun Tao finished with a mischievous cackle.
