Why is This Troublemaker So Damn Rich?

Chapter 162: The Store Even Has a VIP Lounge?

He was worried because he knew Li Yang.

Knowing Li Yang's competitive nature, he was sure Li Yang would be watching this rival's new NLB store closely. As soon as Li Yang got his hands on their sales figures, he would immediately compare them to the stores under Futong Commerce. He would then demand that Zhang Li ensure Futong Commerce's average monthly sales per store did not fall below this NLB in Xinyue Square.

Initially, Zhang Li had agreed with Li Yang. This new Yanghe Commerce had neither the manpower nor the capital, and their store management had to be far inferior to Futong Commerce's. So, even though their store was in Xinyue Square, they were just too amateurish to succeed. With poor management, even the best location couldn't generate good sales.

But after coming here, his perspective shifted. If they were so amateurish, how could they have launched such a saturation advertising campaign? If they were so amateurish, how could they have synced up with an online store? If they were so amateurish, why would the mall give them subsidies right from the grand opening?

'They've clearly done their homework. If I still call them amateurs, what does that make me?'

When he reached the NLB store, it took him a while to find the side entrance in the hoarding. He stepped forward and gave the door a push. It swung open, and he stuck his head inside for a look.

Two beautiful sales associates were organizing merchandise. They had come down after eating to relieve the previous staff members, who then went up for their own meal. The entrance wasn't locked, and with two people watching over the store, they were taking turns going for lunch.

'Good lord, are all their sales associates this young and beautiful?'

The staff members Yang Na had selected were all over 165 cm tall, with slender figures and looks that rated at least a seven out of ten. Moreover, they all had an extremely friendly and approachable demeanor.

'It's so hard to hire people right now. Where did they find two sales associates this beautiful? At our store, they'd be considered the prettiest girls on staff.'

"Sir, can I help you?"

One of the sales associates came over to ask. They didn't recognize Zhang Li and assumed he was just a curious passerby who had pushed the door open to have a look.

Zhang Li forced a laugh. "Just passing by and wanted to take a look. Are you about to open?"

The sales associate, strictly adhering to company policy, broke into an exceptionally warm smile. "Sir, we officially open tomorrow. Feel free to come by and browse. We're also having a promotion where you get 100 off for every 1000 you spend. It's a great deal if you buy now."

The other associate approached as well, handing a cup of coffee to Zhang Li. "Sir, this is our freshly ground Blue Mountain coffee. Please, have a taste."

He was taken aback and looked around. This was an NLB store, not a coffee shop. 'They have Blue Mountain coffee?'

"Is this complimentary?"

The associate who had brought the coffee answered with the same polite smile, "Yes, it is. We are dedicated to providing our customers with the highest quality service, and the Blue Mountain coffee is just one part of that. In the future, we will offer even more premium, value-added services for our Yanghe Commerce members."

'Value-added services for members?' Zhang Li suddenly noticed a separate room inside the store, partitioned off with opaque glass. A sign on it read "VIP Lounge."

"What's in there?"

The associate replied, "That's a lounge for our VIP customers. When they get tired from shopping, they can come in for a break. We provide freshly ground coffee and a selection of desserts."

Zhang Li's eyes widened. "All complimentary?"

"Of course. We want our customers to feel like they're coming home every time they visit."

He smirked. Li Yang's judgment had been spot on; these Yanghe Commerce people were far too naive. Who does business like this? This was Xinyue Square, where every inch of space was precious. Paying such exorbitant rent only to partition off 20 square meters for a VIP lounge was an incredibly foolish move.

It was tantamount to paying high rent for 20 square meters that not only failed to generate revenue but also added to their personnel and material costs. A store like this might look high-end and impressive, but how long could they possibly sustain it?

Futong Commerce's stores went all out to maximize sales, and their profit margin was still only around 5%. If they operated the way Yanghe Commerce did, they would have gone bankrupt long ago.

At this thought, Zhang Li finally felt he had some good news. This boss clearly didn't understand business. Even if their opening sales were spectacular, how long could they keep it up?

He glanced again at the two associates. In all his years in operations management, this was the first time he had ever seen staff with such an outstanding combination of appearance, disposition, and service attitude. 'I have to find a way to poach employees like this.'

"Can I add you on WeChat?"

"Of course, let me scan your code." The sales associate saw him as a potential customer, and in sales, you never refuse a new contact. She readily added him as a friend.

Zhang Li tried his best to put on a gentle expression, unaware that because he wasn't very handsome, the affectation only made his face look more unpleasant. Fortunately, the sales associate didn't pay any mind to his face; as long as he was a customer, her only job was to serve him wholeheartedly.

As he was leaving, the associate refilled his coffee. He didn't refuse, thinking that every extra cup he drank would increase his rival's costs, bringing them one step closer to bankruptcy.

'Hmph. I'll drink you into bankruptcy. A VIP lounge? What do you think you're selling, cars?'

He backed out of the store, the flower-like smiles of the two sales associates still vivid in his mind. 'Sigh, they're so much prettier than my wife.'

As he turned, he suddenly saw a familiar face right in front of him. Startled by the unexpected encounter, his hand jerked, and the full cup of coffee spilled all over his white shirt.

"Shit, shit, shit..."

The coffee soaked through his shirt and ran all over his stomach. He hopped around, forgetting his image, as the liquid trickled down his belly and into his pants.

"Damn... shit." He broke into a jog, heading for the restroom.

Watching Zhang Li's pathetic retreat, Zhu Jing couldn't help but chuckle. Yang Hui, however, remarked with a straight face, "What's with him? He looks like he got caught stealing coffee."

He led Zhu Jing in through the side entrance. "Sir— I mean, Manager Yang!"

A sales associate had been about to greet him but stopped when she realized it was Yang Hui. Of course, they were familiar with him; he used to be the operations manager for Ruijing Commerce and would often come to inspect the stores. Unfortunately, Yang Hui couldn't recall their names. He gestured for them to carry on with their work and not to mind him.

As he wandered through the different sections of the store, Zhu Jing ran over to the associates, helping them arrange the displays while chatting with them.

When she saw the VIP Lounge, unlike Zhang Li who had only stared from a distance, she pushed the door open and went inside. She was a little stunned by the high-end decor.

This was even more comfortable than the VIP lounge at a high-speed rail station. There were smart massage recliners with white ash wood frames and genuine leather cushions, complete with a built-in 2D massage system and a heating function.

A mini-bar was equipped with a coffee machine, and it looked like there would be a dedicated staff member to grind fresh coffee. The beans they had chosen were also top-quality Blue Mountain.

Just then, Yang Hui walked in.
