「The next morning, at dawn!」

When Yang Hui woke up, Wenren Du’Er had already left for school. He washed up and went to the dining room.

Wenren Meng was arranging the dishes with her back to him. As she leaned forward, her perky, peach-like butt stretched her pajama pants taut, looking as if a ball had been stuffed inside. He couldn’t resist the urge to go up and give it a little pat.

’A body built for fucking.’

Yang Hui shook his head. ’What am I thinking? It’s early in the morning, my fire is burning strong, and at my age, my needs are... insistent.’

He quickly went to splash his face with cold water to wake himself up, thinking, ’I might have to go find Liu Shasha to blow off some steam again!’

Crown daisy and egg pancakes, shrimp and winter melon soup, and stir-fried pork with sweet peas.

Chilled wood ear mushroom salad and black rice soy milk.

Wenren Meng’s breakfast was low in oil and salt, mostly steamed, boiled, or served cold. Quite sophisticated!

Much better than the little girl who only knew how to make congee and plain boiled eggs.

He seemed to have forgotten that Wenren Du’Er was just a 13-year-old girl. Being able to do even that much was already quite impressive.

"Sit down and eat with me."

"No, no, I’m fine!"

Wenren Meng waved her hands frantically. She was still a bit shy and awkward around a rich man like Yang Hui.

"I said sit, so sit!"

Yang Hui’s voice was a little loud. Wenren Meng, slightly afraid of him, timidly sat down across from him.

"I told you to sit down and eat, not to sit down for a lecture. Why are you acting like this?"

"Ah, oh, okay!"

She scrambled to her feet, poured herself a glass of soy milk, and brought back some utensils.

Seeing her look like a browbeaten newlywed, Yang Hui almost wanted to use his phone screen as a mirror. ’Am I really that scary?’

As Wenren Meng ate, she kept sneaking glances at Yang Hui out of the corner of her eye. She looked less like she was having a meal and more like a thief, cautious and furtive.

Yang Hui had wanted to ask her some questions, but on second thought, he decided to eat first. Otherwise, she probably wouldn’t be able to eat at all.

"I’m heading to work. During the day, you can walk around the neighborhood to get familiar with the area. If you need anything, you can call or text me. Oh, right, I never gave you my number!"

Wenren Meng shook the phone in her hand. "Du’Er sent it to me yesterday!"

He nodded, noticing at the same time that she was using a cheap, 998-yuan phone from some brand.

He went downstairs to get his car and head to the company. Today was June 1st, the day of the Operations Department’s morning meeting.

As he entered the company stairwell, he didn’t expect to run into Cai Miao again.

Her glare was like an arrow from an ice archer. Yang Hui suspected she wanted to riddle him with a thousand arrows.

’Not bad. The initial results of pissing people off are showing.’

Seeing Yang Hui in a hurry, she couldn’t help but taunt, "Someone’s in a rush. Team performance is dead last. Guess you won’t be getting a bonus this month either!"

Hearing this, Yang Hui laughed, stopped, and turned back. "It has nothing to do with performance. I’m in a hurry because I was being chased and bitten by a dog first thing in the morning."

With that, he swaggered off, leaving Cai Miao’s face ashen. Even her thick layer of makeup couldn’t hide it.

"Morning!"

"Morning, boss!"

"You all are looking pretty good today!"

Yang Hui joked with his team members. Good things put people in good spirits. This month, they had completed 80% of their individual performance targets and could finally get their bonuses. Of course they were in a good mood, and they were gradually starting to accept him as their new leader.

8:55

Yang Hui led his team to the conference room, arriving early. The morning meeting was scheduled to start at 9:00.

Each team sat in a single file column, with all the team managers in the front row.

The moment he entered the room, he felt a hostile gaze. He turned to see it was Zhang Li, who had clearly been punished because of last night’s email.

’A faint smile, another small victory,’ he thought. ’I’ll have to find a chance to press my advantage.’

Just as he sat down, Dan Biao came over, and the room instantly fell silent.

"Good morning, everyone. We’ll wait just a moment. President Li is coming to sit in on the meeting today."

The atmosphere immediately grew tense. The big boss was coming. The teams with poor performance were already breaking out in a cold sweat.

Zhang Li shot a gloating look in Yang Hui’s direction, but unfortunately for him, Yang Hui acted as if he didn’t even exist.

At 8:59, Cai Miao walked in, carrying a laptop and a water cup.

She placed them on a seat in the back row and walked to the front.

Dan Biao nodded at her, and it was clear he was being very polite.

Cai Miao gave a cool nod in return, walked up to the podium, knocked on the table, and struck a pose as if she were the only one who mattered.

The room fell silent instantly. Everyone knew she was about to speak.

"Hello everyone. Today is the monthly all-hands meeting for the Operations Department. President Li is taking time out of his busy schedule to sit in. Before we begin, I’d like to say a few words:

1. The overall market environment has been poor for the past two years, and business has become increasingly difficult. Therefore, everyone needs to work even harder. Some teams are consistently at the bottom, ranking dead last in the entire company for both year-over-year growth and goal attainment. Not only do they fail to earn bonuses for themselves, but they also drag the company down and affect its profits. Logically, such a team should feel a sense of shame and use that shame to strive for better!

2. But unfortunately, this team once again ranked dead last among all teams in the company for year-over-year growth and attainment rate in May. I have already suggested to President Li that we have this team’s leader talk about his future plans and any concrete action items he might have.

3. The finance department is currently finalizing last month’s operational data and will send it to President Shan in a few minutes. Please wait a moment."

The focus of the entire room now shifted to the "Airex" team. Everyone knew which team Cai Miao was calling "dead last," because for several months in a row, there had never been any surprises.

On May 31st, looking at the data up to May 30th, Airex’s performance in May seemed even more miserable.

Seemingly satisfied with the current situation, Cai Miao turned to Yang Hui as she was wrapping up her speech. "Xiaoyang, I hope you bring something concrete to the table later. Make sure you have something of substance to say and aren’t just full of empty talk!"

WHOOSH. All eyes focused on Yang Hui once again.

Facing her provocation, he smiled calmly. "Old Cai, didn’t you just say the operational data wasn’t out yet?"

Cai Miao’s expression turned frosty. ’It’s Old Cai again, and in front of so many people.’

"Does it matter if it’s out or not? What kind of change could possibly happen on the last day?"

Zhang Li also chuckled. "Some people won’t shed a tear until they see the coffin. A dead duck with a stiff beak!"

Yang Hui’s voice turned cold. "You’ve been babbling on for ages without any data. This is a major meeting. Have you two considered getting your brains checked? I suggest installing a drainpipe in them. Or maybe, while the weather’s nice these next couple of days, you should ask the company for a day off to take your brains out for some sun!"

"You! Yang Hui, this is the company! Watch your words! With that kind of attitude, you’re a manager?"

Cai Miao was trembling with anger. No one in this company had ever dared to openly get into a shouting match with her like this!

"What’s wrong with my attitude? I’m just deliberately lowering myself to your level so we can have a conversation as equals!"

"Alright, Yang Hui, that’s enough. Show some respect! President Cai, please, have a seat. President Li will be here any moment!"

Seeing the situation spiraling out of control, Dan Biao quickly stepped in to smooth things over.
