Xinyue Group Regional Office

The receptionist on duty today was quite familiar with Yang Hui. After all, a guy that handsome, with a pair of signature peach blossom eyes, was hard to forget.

"Hi, I’m here to see President Tian."

"Please wait a moment." After confirming with someone inside, she led Yang Hui in.

President Tian’s office door was ajar. She knocked. "Come in!"

A booming voice answered. The receptionist pushed the door open and invited Yang Hui inside.

He was very familiar with this office; there was no need to be formal with President Tian.

"A Hui, have a seat. I just need to finish this document."

Yang Hui wandered around the office, feeding the ornamental fish in the tank. After an assistant brought him tea, he sat on the guest sofa. While waiting for President Tian, he scrolled through the company’s TikTok account, watching Shen Meng’s sales livestream.

She had changed into a pink sweatshirt, intentionally pulling the collar down to reveal one shoulder. Winking at the camera, she said, "Wear this on a date with your bestie, and no straight guy will be able to look away~"

She wasn’t revealing much, but her fair, delicate shoulder was already captivating. The woman was a stunner.

"Alright, A Hui, you finally remembered to come see me."

President Tian came out from behind his desk, complaining playfully.

Yang Hui smiled. ’If Dan Biao hadn’t scheduled this, I probably would have waited a few more days to come over.’

"I heard you ran off to Futong Commerce a few days ago, and I didn’t get it. Then I heard you’re an operations manager for one of their brands, and I understood even less. How is that better than being the general manager at Ruijing Commerce?"

It was hard to explain. Anyone would think Yang Hui had lost his mind. This was all because of the system’s rules, so he could only laugh and say, "I wanted to experience a different role."

President Tian shook his head. "You’re making it sound like you’re an actor trying to hone your craft. That Li Yang is pretty clueless, isn’t he? Giving you such a low-level position. I’ll have to give him a talking-to."

Yang Hui just smiled. He didn’t care how President Tian dealt with Li Yang. Even though he worked at Futong Commerce, he felt no sense of belonging, and his impression of Li Yang was mediocre at best.

"Brother Tian, I came to see you today about a few things:

1. Regarding the NLB partnership, I need to create a store-opening plan to determine product procurement and budget.

2. For Zen’s first flagship store, and the subsequent opening plan, I’ll need your help.

3. I’m currently in charge of the ’Airex’ brand at Futong Commerce. I might need the malls to provide some significant support for promotional activities. Also, I looked at a few stores that are losing money badly. Since they’re in their incubation period at the mall, I need you to give me some support with rent reduction!"

None of these were simple requests. Good retail space in Xinyue Square was incredibly hard to come by. Many tenants were doing well in their partnerships, and you couldn’t just kick them out before their contracts were up to make room for Yang Hui’s brands.

He was asking for prime locations. And the brands that already occupied those prime spots were no pushovers; they were all influential companies with major market presence.

President Tian replied nonchalantly, "No problem. For NLB and Zen, you just make an opening plan based on your staffing and budget. Don’t worry about the locations, I guarantee I’ll get them for you.

As for ’Airex’ needing operational support from each mall, I’ve already prepared for that. I gave instructions to all the store general managers at the regional office meeting. Just tell them what you need, and they’ll cooperate fully!"

Yang Hui silently took a sip of tea. If he hadn’t worked in the business world for two years, he might have actually believed these were all things a regional general manager could handle in minutes just by listening to him talk.

But he wasn’t a business newbie. The level of difficulty involved was definitely not something President Tian could solve just by saying so. It required coordinating all sorts of connections, communicating with other brands, and liaising with the Xinyue Plaza Group. Even if Zhang Chun handled it personally, it likely wouldn’t be as simple as President Tian made it sound.

’What is going on?’ he wondered. From the day he started dealing with Xinyue Square, he felt like he was its owner. No matter how outrageous his requests were, Xinyue Square always ended up agreeing.

He was tempted to test the waters, to make an even more ridiculous request one day just to see where their bottom line was.

He was just worried they would think he was being too shameless.

KNOCK KNOCK~

President Tian glanced at the door. Yang Hui said, "Brother Tian, I’m all set. Don’t let me keep you from your work."

"It’s fine!"

"Come in!"

It was the regional vice president. Seeing Yang Hui, he gave a slight nod. He wasn’t very familiar with him, only knowing he was a valued guest of President Tian’s. He’d heard he used to be an operations department manager at Ruijing Commerce and had now moved to Futong Commerce.

Yang Hui nodded back in greeting.

President Tian asked, "What is it?"

The vice president said, "Several brands from the ’Qingyun Group’ are losing money heavily in a few of our newly opened malls. They’ve submitted a report hoping for some support on their rent!"

Yang Hui remained silent. The "Qingyun Group" was a large national chain, a super-retailer with annual sales approaching 50 billion. It owned over a dozen well-known brands that were all heavy hitters in the market.

The company had gotten a relatively late start in Qingjiang Province, with a scale of just under 700 million a year, but it was developing rapidly. Among all their vendors, they were probably the one most worthy of being treated as a key partner.

That’s why it was a big enough deal for the vice president to personally come and ask for President Tian’s opinion.

President Tian took the application report, glanced at it, and tossed it aside. "Xinyue Group Headquarters has no policy for rent reduction. How can the regional office approve it? Tell them to hang in there."

He dismissed the vice president with that casual remark.

Yang Hui thought about the conditions he had just proposed and felt a little embarrassed. The Qingyun Group couldn’t get this kind of treatment, so what did Futong Commerce count for? Jack squat!

President Tian seemed to notice his expression. He stood up and patted him on the shoulder. "Don’t overthink it. You are you, and they are them."

’But that’s the whole point!’ Yang Hui thought. ’I’m just a low-level employee, and they’re a huge corporate group. Why does my face have more pull than theirs? What the hell is going on?’

He didn’t ask. It would be pointless. He had asked similar questions over the past two years, and President Tian’s answer was always the same: "Because you’re A Hui."

’What a load of bullshit!’

"Alright, Brother Tian, I’m heading out. I’ll go talk to Manager Cheng about the operational support for the malls!"

"You’re not staying a bit longer? Let’s have dinner tonight."

Yang Hui was already on his feet. "No need. Once things settle down, I’ll get Brother Chun and we can all get together with you."

Cheng Jun had already sent him several messages. If he didn’t go see her soon, she’d be dying of curiosity.

He entered Cheng Jun’s office. The standards for a regional operations manager’s office weren’t high; it was only about 16 square meters, not even big enough for a sofa.

That’s why she always preferred using a meeting room whenever she had to receive clients.
