A tailored black suit. Her long legs were wrapped in matte stockings, reflecting a delicate luster under the lights.
A thin purple belt cinched her waist, and pearls adorned the hem of her skirt. The look was alluring and elegant, yet maintained a professional air.
Yang Hui pulled open the door to see Liu Shasha, whom he hadn’t seen in days. She was as stunning as ever. Her waist was as slender and lithe as a willow branch, her hips were full and firm, and her chest was magnificent. Her figure radiated strength and a healthy beauty.
"Yang Dingtian~"
She cooed, using the flirtatious nickname she had given him last time.
She stepped into the room, and after closing the door, she brushed a stray strand of hair behind her ear. The movement released the scent of perfume from her wrist. That, combined with the inherent appeal her professional attire held for him, made it impossible for Yang Hui to look away.
He reached out, pulled her close, and swept her off her feet, one arm hooking under her knees.
"Hey, what are you doing?"
’She’s quite the actress.’ He tossed her onto the large, soft bed. Her voluptuous body sank into the snow-white duvet like it was a cloud before bouncing back up. He undid her belt, and the satin fabric slid away to reveal a dazzling expanse of porcelain-white skin.
Her hair, now free from its bun, cascaded across the pillow like seaweed. The mattress springs let out a suggestive groan. A high heel dangled precariously from her toes—its stiletto had caught in the thick carpet pile when he’d pulled her into the room.
The air was thick with the cloying sweetness of the hotel’s diffuser, mingled with the lingering base notes of her perfume. Yang Hui lowered himself onto her.
An hour later...
The bedside lamp cast a honey-colored sheen on her sweat-glistening collarbones. Her loose curls were tangled with a lace strap that had been pulled halfway down her shoulder.
The high heels lay discarded; one now hung from the edge of the bed while the other was flung across the carpet. The diffuser still puffed out the cloying scent of ylang-ylang, which mixed with her lingering perfume, making the air feel thick and heavy.
"Yang Dingtian..."
she said, her voice hoarse. Her fingertips unconsciously traced the gold-stamped hotel logo on the bedsheet.
Yang Hui patted her pale ass and had her get off of him. He got out of bed and picked up his phone. "Lie here for a bit. I need to make a call."
Over at Futong Commerce, many people still hadn’t gotten off work. Dan Biao, for example, was used to a routine of leaving at 8:00 PM.
’Thinking of Yang Hui, he reflected on his own miserable lot in life. Back in school, there were mandatory evening study sessions. Now, after entering the workforce to slave away like a beast of burden, he still had to work unpaid overtime.’
’’An idle youth, a needy age,’ or so the saying goes. ’But why do I still feel so miserable even though I worked my ass off?’’
RING RING RING~
Dan Biao picked up the phone. ’Is this telepathy?’ he wondered. ’I was just thinking about Yang Hui, and now he’s calling.’
"A Hui."
"President Shan, I need to report something to you. It’s rather urgent."
"Well, this is a surprise. You, thinking about work after hours? Didn’t you have a rule about not discussing work after clocking out?"
Dan Biao couldn’t resist a rare jab.
"Sigh, I didn’t want to bring it up, but this is too important. It could mean a huge loss for the Operations Department, maybe even the entire company. And if we don’t handle it today, it’ll be too late."
"What’s going on?"
Hearing the gravity in his tone, Dan Biao’s expression turned serious. ’Whatever could make a guy who refuses to discuss work after hours change his tune must be a big deal,’ he thought.
"Do you remember that approval form I gave you to sign this morning? It was the proposal for Xinyue Group to provide fixed monthly promotional support for our 21 Airex stores."
"Of course, I remember. I even reported it to President Li this morning. He sang your praises, said you negotiated it brilliantly and had a great head for strategy."
"Then you should also remember I said that form was extremely urgent. We had to get a scanned copy of the stamped document to them today. They need to submit it to their head office, or we’ll miss the window for this month."
"I remember. I reported that to President Li, too. Getting a stamp is a simple matter on our end. Wait... A Hui, for you to be calling now... don’t tell me you still haven’t gotten the signed form back?"
Dan Biao was quick on the uptake. ’If he’d gotten it,’ he realized, ’he wouldn’t be beating around the bush like this.’
"Yeah. I just remembered and checked on it. The form was sent to Cai Miao this morning. I even called her twice to stress that it had to be processed today, but she’s blocking it."
"What?"
’Is Cai Miao a fucking idiot? Does she have no sense of priorities? Does she really think she can do whatever she wants just because she’s the boss’s pet? Doesn’t she know this promotion can increase company sales by at least two million a month? That’s an additional 1.2 million in gross profit!’
’This is all pure profit! If she screws this up, Li Yang will have her head.’
’She’s not usually this clueless about what’s important. Why would she do something so stupid?’
"A Hui, are you sure you gave it to her?"
"Of course. It was sent over with our team’s expense reports this morning."
Oh?
Hearing that, Dan Biao understood immediately. ’So he’s setting a trap for Cai Miao. He’s using her grudge against him—and her habit of holding up his expense reports—to lay a snare for her.’
Dan Biao couldn’t help but pity Cai Miao. ’Why on earth did you provoke this troublemaker? The guy doesn’t even give a damn about President Li. What makes you, the boss’s favorite, think you can handle him?’
’Of course, Cai Miao has no idea how important Yang Hui is to Li Yang. But he, Dan Biao, knew it all too well. Based solely on the resources Yang Hui could pull from Xinyue Group, Li Yang had to handle him with kid gloves.’
’As for Cai Miao? An ass-kissing assistant is a dime a dozen for anyone willing to pay.’
’She thinks she’s the boss’s favorite, but in reality, she’s just his lapdog.’
"A Hui, I’ll call her... No, I’ll go straight to the boss. I’ll make sure you get a digital copy of the signed form tonight."
"Then please hurry. It’s bad enough that I have to work after hours, but it’s really out of line to make Manager Cheng from Xinyue Group stay up all night waiting."
Dan Biao understood the gravity of the situation. He had to report this to Li Yang immediately. Otherwise, if things went south, Li Yang would hold him responsible, too.
Li Yang had left work relatively early that day. He was feeling utterly humiliated, and the source of his frustration was none other than a new company employee.
As soon as he got home, he locked himself in his study.
’It had only been a few days, but this newcomer, Yang Hui, had embarrassed him time and time again. It was getting to the point where he almost dreaded dealing with him.’
’He was afraid to assign him anything, fearing the man would just refuse. He couldn’t punish him, but failing to do so would undermine his own authority in the company.’
’The nerve of that brat! I invited him to dinner, and he flat-out refused me. Outrageous! I’m going to have a long talk with him tomorrow morning.’
’Just thinking about it made him fume. But what made him even angrier were the rumors that had been flying around the office all afternoon—that the same brat was pursuing Shen Meng.’
’Li Yang felt as though everyone at the company was waiting for the drama to unfold. He had no proof, but he could just feel it—they were all waiting to laugh at his expense.’
Just then, his phone rang. It was Dan Biao.
"President Li, we have a problem! It’s urgent!"
