Cai Miao’s face was pale. She felt like a prisoner awaiting sentencing.

If this went south, Li Yang would absolutely destroy her. She was self-aware enough to know that she was just a tool to him.

Compared to money, she was less than nothing.

She returned to her desk, completely distraught. Her eyes stared blankly at the computer screen as she glanced at the internal phone line from time to time, imagining the fury that might erupt from Li Yang on the other end.

"Assistant Cai~"

Someone called out to her, pulling her from her daze. When she saw who it was, her anger flared up again.

"What is it?"

The person was Zhu Jing. Cai Miao’s hatred for Yang Hui now extended to his entire team.

"Our supervisor sent me to pick up the team’s reimbursement forms."

Cai Miao’s first instinct was to say, "Wait, they’re not signed yet."

But then she thought about it. Yang Hui still hadn’t given her a clear answer about the promotional funding for Xinyue Group. To avoid provoking him further and giving him leverage over her, she decided to tolerate it just this once. She’d settle the score with him after this crisis was over.

She reached for the reimbursement forms for the Airex team and began to check and sign them one by one.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Zhu Jing glance at her watch. "What’s that supposed to mean? Are you rushing me?"

Cai Miao’s temper flared again. ’These supervisors used to be nothing but my punching bags. Now one of them dares to rush me? This is rebellion.’

Zhu Jing said coolly, "Our supervisor said if I can’t get them in three minutes, to not bother."

Cai Miao’s signing hand clenched so hard she nearly snapped the pen’s tip. The fingers gripping the pen turned white and bloodless, and her face seemed to be covered in frost.

’This is going too far!’ But she knew to pick her battles. She stopped checking the forms, picked up her pen, and with a flurry of scribbles, signed everything in under a minute. She then tossed the stack in front of Zhu Jing.

Zhu Jing took them, incredulous. ’So Assistant Cai *can* sign things this quickly. Who was it that said she nitpicks everyone’s forms and looks for any little flaw? Isn’t this fast and efficient?’

"Zhu Jing, let me ask you something."

Cai Miao forced her tone to become gentle.

Zhu Jing, who was about to leave, stopped and looked at her. "About that promotional funding for Xinyue Group," Cai Miao asked, "is there a decision yet?"

"I think so. As soon as our supervisor got to the office this morning, he had us start working on a promotional plan. If there wasn’t a decision, why would he have us plan a promotion for this weekend?"

While Cai Miao felt a wave of relief, her anger instantly surged back up. This morning, Yang Hui had said he was waiting for the results, but he’d had his subordinates start planning how to use the promotional funds as soon as he got in. That meant the funding had already been approved.

’He did it on purpose! He was deliberately messing with me, that bastard! He had me worried sick all this time, I even prepared for all the ways President Li might yell at me. No wonder President Li hasn’t called for me yet.’

When Yang Hui saw Zhu Jing return with a stack of reimbursement forms, he knew she’d handled it. ’Cai Miao knows what’s good for her. If she tried to get revenge on my team members again, I have a hundred ways to torture her.’

BRRRING BRRRING~

Yang Hui picked up the phone.

"Yang Hui, are you fucking with me?!"

Cai Miao’s shriek came through the receiver. He gave a faint smile. "Rookie, why don’t you take a look in the mirror? With the way you look, I’d have to be pretty damn desperate to mess with you. Don’t insult my taste."

SLAM. He hung up, leaving Cai Miao on the other end with a BEEP BEEP BEEP dial tone, her face contorting in rage.

Yang Hui let out a cold laugh. ’A brain is a good thing to have. Too bad some people can’t be bothered to bring theirs when they leave the house.’

He appeared to be working at his computer, but he was actually pondering his system mission.

From his interaction with Shen Meng yesterday, he had a preliminary understanding of her. First, she didn’t come from a wealthy family. This was evident from her clothes and the electronic gadgets she used.

The clothes she wore were from brands the company represented, but they were older models. They were probably items she sold on her own livestream, from which she had picked a few styles that suited her. Fortunately, her natural beauty was impossible to hide; even average-quality clothes looked like designer wear on her.

As for her electronics, he’d noticed yesterday that she was still using a two-year-old phone model, unlike many girls who liked to chase trends and buy the latest gadgets.

The system’s mission required Shen Meng to spend money on him, which meant she needed to have money in the first place. With a monthly income of just over ten thousand, asking her to spend fifty thousand on him in three months was a complete fantasy, wasn’t it?

So, he had pushed for Shen Meng to do a sales livestream for the store, and he’d also secured numerous resources from the mall. He wanted to see if this method could significantly boost her livestream sales, thereby increasing her monthly income.

’If her income increases substantially, and it’s because of my help, her personality suggests she’ll definitely want to thank me. That would give her a motive to spend money on me.’

Thinking more about her personality, she wasn’t a stingy person. Moreover, she was the type who hated taking advantage of others.

People with this kind of personality usually share a trait: if you spend money on them, they will definitely find a way to pay you back.

Based on this, Yang Hui scribbled on a piece of paper. His next plan of action: 1. Help her make money. 2. Spend money on her.

Yes. With his thoughts organized, he stood up and stretched. He saw Zhu Jing directly in front of him, leaning over her desk to look at some data. Her slender waist dipped slightly, while her posture caused her hips, wrapped in a tight skirt, to look even more full and rounded.

The hem of her skirt had ridden up slightly as she leaned forward, tracing a plump curve. It was like a ripe peach being gently held up, casting a small, soft shadow under the office’s cold white lights.

The fabric of the skirt was stretched taut, faintly revealing the edge of the safety shorts she wore underneath. But her attention was entirely on the screen, completely unaware of how suggestive her posture was to an onlooker.

His gaze lingered for a second before he quickly looked away. The fire that Liu Shasha had just helped him put out was threatening to flare up again.

Fortunately, the phone rang just then. It was Dan Biao, informing him that Li Yang wanted to see him in his office.

This was the first time he’d be meeting Li Yang since joining Futong Commerce. He had a good idea of what it was about. Dan Biao had already mentioned on the phone yesterday that Li Yang wanted him to accompany him to meet President Tian that evening.

’Li Yang probably thinks that if he asks me personally, I’ll change my mind just to save him face as the boss and avoid upsetting him.’

Too bad for him, Yang Hui was actually trying to figure out how to make him unhappy.

"Come, A Hui, have a seat."

Li Yang was like a smiling tiger, always starting with a slight smile before he spoke, leaving you wondering what he was smiling about. Yang Hui found people like that incredibly fake.

"A Hui, you’ve been with the company for a few days now. I’ve been so busy with work that I haven’t had a chance to call you in for a chat. How are things? Feeling alright? Are you facing any difficulties?"
