"There’s no marks at all on this body."
No matter how they looked at this body, they weren’t able to find a single trace of a mark.
It was as if whatever had turned this body into a corpse had done it without even touching the Diamond Body Buddha. But if that were the case, then it would make sense how it had penetrated the defenses of the Diamond Body Buddha.
If it wasn’t a physical attack, then it might be able to break through his defenses another way.
But Ye Qing Huan shook her head before saying, "Even if it wasn’t a physical attack, the Diamond Body Sutra has a soul component to it. Defense isn’t just about defending the physical body, it’s also about protecting what’s inside as well."
If Ye Qing Huan was saying this, there really was no questioning it since she knew about this better than they did.
It was just that since there were no marks at all, they couldn’t figure out what happened.
Even the different strange methods that Lin Fan used had no effects at all on this corpse.
It was as if there was something that blocked everything that he tried to use on the corpse. Though it wasn’t as if he wasn’t able to figure out what it was that was preventing him from figuring it out.
Since the Diamond Body Buddha was a physical cultivator, it meant that his body really was on a completely different level. It meant that the defenses were able to keep out everything that he used to check the body.
It wasn’t as if a cultivator’s hard work would just disappear once they died.
In the case of the DIamond Body Buddha, it could be said that his corpse was a powerful defensive artifact. It didn’t even need to be refined, it was already strong enough just because of his cultivation alone.
But it wasn’t as if they could take this corpse away.
The moment that they took it out, it would be a slap to the face of the Buddhist Sect.
Not only that, it would provoke the Buddhist Sect to do all that they could to take this corpse back from the two of them.
However, the most important thing of all was the fact that this corpse had been left here. It wasn’t as if the elders would have moved on their own, so there had to be a reason that no one had collected this corpse until now.
There might even be something that was hiding inside of the corpse waiting to strike.
So in the end, they left the Diamond Body Buddha’s corpse behind and continued forward to see what else they could find.
It seemed like an open courtyard was in front of them, but they knew better than that. They knew that there had to be something that was hiding here, something related to the defenses of the Dao Sect.
Which was why they could only carefully move forward.
Ye Qing Huan and Xiao Mu even moved behind Lin Fan once more just in case something happened.
It wasn’t that they were planning on using the power of the token alone, they were also planning on stepping in if anything came after Lin Fan.
But there was nothing that revealed itself, or at least there wasn’t anything that they could see directly. With how silent it was, it was almost a bit scary since it felt like there wasn’t a single thing in this place.
Though they knew that it was some kind of array that was blocking them from sensing anything.
It was just like the mist array, but it was also different.
As expected of the Dao Sect, they had many ways of hiding things if they wanted.
However, it didn’t seem like everything was hidden. Though this was because it was something that they wanted them to see.
"I think we have to do something about this."
Both Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan had serious looks on their faces when they saw who it was that was trapped in front of them.
They weren’t able to see what it was that was trapping them, but they could see that it was someone related to them that was sitting there.
It was hard to ignore it when it was his master that was trapped.
It was the Poison King that was trapped inside of what seemed to be an invisible cage.
Though looking at it, it wasn’t as if the Poison King was the only one that was trapped inside of the cage. It seemed like there were other elders that were trapped inside as well.
From what Ye Qing Huan could see, she could tell that they were elders from the righteous sects.
It seemed like the Poison King was the only elder from the Heavenly Demon Sect that was trapped inside of this place.
Since he was the only one from the Heavenly Demon Sect, it seemed like the others were avoiding the Poison King. It seemed like they were more focused on getting out of here rather than fighting each other right now.
But it was clear by the way that the other elders moved that they had no idea what they were supposed to do.
Seeing this, Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan didn’t get any closer.
In fact, it seemed like whatever the cage was also kept the ones that were trapped inside from seeing out of it. Or else the Poison King and the other elders from the righteous sects would have noticed Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan watching them.
It really seemed like they were in a completely isolated space with the way that they were acting.
Finally, one of the elders seemed to be unable to take it anymore and attacked the cage that was around them. Once that happened, the elder was just knocked to the ground by some kind of invisible thing.
None of the other elders were surprised to see this and even shook their heads while giving sighs when seeing this.
It was as if they were already tired of seeing this kind of performance.
In the end, none of this gave any clues as to what was holding the Poison King and the others. So even if they wanted to do something, it wasn’t as if there was anything that they could do for the Poison King.
"Let’s try using the token." Lin Fan didn’t want to give up that easily, even though he knew that there wasn’t anything that he could really do to help the Poison King. Even suggesting the token was nothing more than a hail mary in an attempt to try something.
The moment that he came close to the edge of the cage, Lin Fan could already sense that he would be trapped if he went any further. It was a sensation that came from the token, so it meant that the token did have an effect in this place.
At the very least, it was telling him just where the dangers were. As for whether he avoided it or not, that was up to Lin Fan.
Once he reached a certain point, Lin Fan stopped and just watched the elders trapped inside of the cage. But in reality, what he was looking at was the cage itself as if he was trying to figure something out.
After a while, he reached his hand up and pulled out some paper.
Without any hesitation, he started writing on it and then sent it towards the cage.
There was no resistance at all from the cage as the piece of paper went through, but he did make sure to send it directly to the Poison King without the other elders noticing.
Though the Poison King didn’t show any signs of receiving it, there was this faint smile that appeared on the Poison King’s face. It was clear that the Poison King had read the letter that Lin Fan had written for him.
Once he delivered the letter, Lin Fan turned back around and moved away from the cage.
Neither Ye Qing Huan or Xiao Mu said anything since they knew what they had to do right now.
It wasn’t as if they could do anything to this cage even if they were right here and if they wanted to break the Poison King out, they had to figure out the true nature of the cage. As well, they had to find the mechanism that would give them control over the traps that were here.
So in the end, they had no choice but to go to the pavilion.
There was no doubt that the control mechanisms would be hidden in the pavilion itself.
As for how they would be able to take control of it, that really was still something that they weren’t certain.
With the token, they were able to avoid the cages that had been set up around the pavilion itself. At the same time, they were able to see the bones that were left inside of those cages.
Those bones were a representation of all those that had tried to steal from this place before, as well as a warning for all those that wanted to steal from this place in the future.
But even so, it didn’t deter Lin Fan’s group.
As long as they had the token, it wasn’t a problem for them to make it up to the pavilion itself.
As for what they would find inside of the pavilion, that was still up in the air.
