The pavilion didn’t seem that special at all with the outer appearance that it had.
It seemed like it was a normal pavilion with the way that it was designed, but the defenses of this place were on a completely different level. It was filled with traps that would catch them if they took a single wrong step.
Of course, they didn’t fall into any of the traps with Lin Fan leading the way.
The token that he possessed pointed out all of the traps that were in front of them, so it wasn’t hard to avoid them when he knew exactly where they all were.
But of course, it wasn’t as if this was simple either.
It was a very narrow path that had been created by the traps that were there.
If they misplaced a single step, they would fall into one of the traps that were scattered in front of the pavilion.
But of course, it wasn’t as if they were that careless.
In the end, they arrived in front of the pavilion where they were at a loss.
"How do we enter this place?"
Even if they wanted to enter, it wasn’t as if it was as simple as pushing open the door. After all, there was clearly some kind of lock that was on this door that would prevent them from entering the pavilion.
So if they wanted to enter, they had to find the key to this lock.
"It’s the token." Lin Fan said when he felt the pull coming from the door.
Once the token touched the door, there was a glow that came from it before the door opened.
It seemed like this token really was an all powerful cheat when used in the Dao Sect.
Without it, they definitely wouldn’t have been able to get as far as they had.
"So who was the ancestor of the Highoak Family?" Lin Fan still hadn’t managed to figure this out after all this time.
Based on the token and the map that he had obtained, it was already clear that the ancestor of the Highoak Family had once held a very high position in the Dao Sect.
It wouldn’t have been a surprise at this point if they had once been a candidate for the future sect leader. After all, that was just how much access they had to the entirety of the Dao Sect.
Once the door opened, they couldn’t help being surprised by what they saw.
Even though this was just the entrance to this pavilion, there were treasures that were all over the place already.
The Dao Sect really had no fear at all, they just left all of these treasures out in the open.
Or that was what it seemed if one didn’t look at it closely. If one wasn’t able to see through the traps that were here, then they wouldn’t know that every treasure that seemed to be out in the open was actually protected.
In the space around the treasures, there was the same cage as the ones that were found outside. Each of these cages were not just here to protect the treasures, but also to maintain them.
After all, the cages were able to isolate the space around the treasures which allowed them to be completely protected. It was a kind of preservation mechanism that could only be accomplished in this world.
So in the end, they didn’t go for any of the treasures that were in front of them and continued forward.
They didn’t really know what they were supposed to be looking for, but they knew that they had to find the very core of this pavilion to find the mechanism that controlled the traps.
Only as they continued forward, they found that there was nothing but more and more treasures.
It didn’t matter how far they went, there were only more and more treasures that were left out in the open like this.
With how they were left out, it really seemed like they were tempting people to take them. But there was no mistaking that there was the same cage that was around each one of these treasures.
The moment that they went for it, they would be trapped in these cages and would never be able to leave.
"It really is a shame." Even Ye Qing Huan wasn’t able to control her emotions, which showed just how valuable the treasures of this place were. But in the end, they couldn’t be taken or else they would be in true danger.
It just seemed like there was no end to this.
It seemed like no matter how far they went deeper into the pavilion, there was simply no end to this place.
But they knew that this wasn’t because of the size of the pavilion itself.
Rather, it was because of some kind of array inside of this pavilion that was distorting the space inside.
The Dao Sect had many treasures that they had collected over time and it was only natural that they would need a large space like this to store it all. It was just that this wasn’t the only reason that this place was distorted like this.
There was no doubt that there was more to this pavilion than just the cages alone.
It was almost certain that there would be other things here protecting the pavilion itself and it would most likely need space to do so.
But it didn’t seem like anything was going to happen with how silent it was.
"So the token gives you the authority to be in this place and unless you actually try to steal something, it won’t actually do anything against you."
Lin Fan was able to figure this out, but it didn’t seem like there was a way to do anything unless they actually triggered the defenses.
"The authority just isn’t high enough..."
Since coming into the main part of the Dao Sect, Lin Fan had fully experienced what it meant to not have enough authority.
With all the different things that happened, it really went to show what a lack of authority got him. If he had more authority with this token, then there was no doubt that there would be more things that he would be able to do here.
But since this was all the authority that he currently possessed, the only thing that he could do was use it to find the way forward.
"There’s no way that we’ll be able to make it through."
This wasn’t really a surprise since it was already a wild attempt to try and break through this pavilion. There was already no precedent of this happening, so it wasn’t as if they were going to be lucky and break through.
It was one thing to receive the inheritance of the pavilions in the outer part. After all, those were pavilions that had been designed to test people and pass on these inheritances.
But the pavilions in the main part of the Dao Sect were the inheritances of the sect and weren’t that easily passed down.
"Do we have to give up on this?"
There was no answer when Lin Fan asked this, but the looks on their faces made it clear what they were thinking. They clearly didn’t think that it was possible for them to retrieve the mechanism that controlled the traps.
It wasn’t as if Lin Fan blamed them for thinking this, but he still couldn’t help feeling frustrated because of it. After all, it was the Poison King that was currently trapped outside of this pavilion.
The Poison King had shown him kindness when he first arrived at the Heavenly Demon Sect, so he wanted to repay that in kind.
"Let me take a closer look at these things."
Xiao Mu offered this since it had a body that was naturally resistant to this, but neither Lin Fan or Ye Qing Huan were willing to let it do such a thing.
Xiao Mu didn’t know what to say in the face of their firm rejection.
But Lin Fan did feel that Xiao Mu was onto something.
He had already thought that they would need to trigger something in this hall to see if there would be some kind of reaction in this place. But since they knew nothing about it, it wasn’t as if they could risk their lives to test this.
In the end, Lin Fan went forward with the token in hand.
He didn’t really know what he was doing with this, but it was better than doing nothing at all.
Even when he felt from the token that he was about to enter the range of the trap, he didn’t back down as he came closer and closer to it.
To his surprise though, there was no pulling sensation that came from the cage around the item.
Instead, there was a flash of light that came from the token before words formed in his mind.
"Do you wish to redeem this item for 5000 points? Your current balance is 1123423."
It had been a shot in the dark, but it revealed information that he didn’t expect.
Though the one thing that he didn’t understand was where these points even came from.
Were they points that he had earned from completing the trials in the outer part of the ruins or were these the points that the previous owner of the token had accumulated in their life?
Regardless, the one thing that this token was capable of was opening the cages as long as there were enough points.
