Since it was capable of opening the cages, it was only natural that Lin Fan would want to test it.

With how many points he had, it didn’t matter if he opened a few of these cages.

But the thing that he was really testing for was to see if he could close it as well.

As soon as Lin Fan figured out that he was able to open the cage, there was already a plan that had formed in his mind. But for this plan to work, he had to have the ability to close the cage as well.

After opening the first cage, he found that there was nothing that came from the token even though he was still holding it up in the same place.

It didn’t seem like the cage was going to close until he took the item either.

Only after he took the item inside did the cage reform once more in that space, even though there was nothing left to protect anymore. Or that would have been the case if not for another one of the same item appearing inside of the cage.

It seemed like the Dao Sect had spares of the treasure that Lin Fan just claimed, so it filled it up right away.

Even though this would have been considered a rare item in the outside world, there were spares that were in this Dao Sect as if it was as common as vegetables. Lin Fan had no idea just how many spares there were, but he was certain that they wouldn’t lack this item if they could replace it that easily.

After putting the token up again, he found that he could pay the same amount to take out the same item.

But it wasn’t as if he wanted the same item.

In the first place, Lin Fan had only paid the points to take this item to see if he could open and close the cage.

In the end, he had no choice but to go to another cage and try it again.

It was just that Lin Fan found that he had actually underestimated the ability of his token.

Once again, it was the same issue of not having enough authority.

Though the token allowed him to exchange points for items, there were limits to the items that he could take from this place. Even if he had enough points based on how much the items in this area cost, it seemed like he didn’t have the authority to take them.

He didn’t know just how much authority he needed for those items and the sensation from the token didn’t tell him either.

So in the end, he had no choice but to give up on these cages.

As he did so, there was a part of Lin Fan that was worried that he wouldn’t be able to open the cage that the Poison King was trapped in.

Other than this, he found that he couldn’t control when the cages closed.

The only thing that he could control was when the cages opened and that was when he paid points to open it. So in the end, it didn’t seem like Lin Fan would be able to use the plan that he had come up with.

Ye Qing Huan had silently followed behind Lin Fan the entire time.

Once she saw him opening the cage, she already knew what he was planning to do and silently supported him while watching everything. It was just that the final result was as disappointing to her as it was to him.

It wasn’t Lin Fan alone that wanted to save the Poison King.

It was also Ye Qing Huan who wanted to save him.

To Ye Qing Huan, the Poison King wasn’t just one of the elders of the Dao Sect, but someone that took care of her as well.

Most of the Eight Kings were familiar with Ye Qing Huan since she was the Heavenly Demon’s disciple. So they had all treated her fairly well since she was most likely the next Heavenly Demon.

Though in reality, they actually treated her like she was their grandchild, just like the Heavenly Demon did.

It was just that without a proper plan, it wasn’t as if they could do anything.

"I think it’s best if we just give up on this." Ye Qing Huan finally broke the silence.

When Lin Fan heard this, there was an unwilling look that was on his face. It looked like he wanted to keep trying things to see if they could help the Poison King, even if he already knew that it wouldn’t be possible.

But the more time that they spent here, the less time there was for the Poison King.

There was no telling what would happen if the Poison King remained in the cage for a long time. So it would be in their best interest to explore other places and see if they could find something else that would help the Poison King.

Lin Fan knew this as well, but there was something that kept bothering him.

It was something that was nibbling at the back of his mind and if he didn’t give it a try, he really wouldn’t be able to forget about it.

So in the end, he said, "Let me try one more thing. If it doesn’t work, then I’ll give up."

Ye Qing Huan gave a simple nod in response.

She didn’t mind this at all, she was fine with it if there was something that Lin Fan wanted to try. After all, she would also want to explore all the options that they had if it was available to them.

But it didn’t seem like what Lin Fan wanted to try was something that was inside of the pavilion.

As Lin Fan started leading them out of the pavilion, there was a confused look that was on Ye Qing Huan’s face.

Only as Lin Fan continued leading them forward, Ye Qing Huan’s expression slowly changed.

After all, Lin Fan was leading them towards the cage that the Poison King was trapped in.

Ye Qing Huan didn’t say anything at first since she didn’t think that Lin Fan would be this reckless. It wasn’t as if he didn’t know what the consequences of releasing all of the elders would be.

But the closer that he came to the cage, the more that Ye Qing Huan couldn’t help worrying.

Finally, she couldn’t stop herself from asking, "What are you doing?"

"I’m just testing something." Lin Fan said in a perfunctory manner that made Ye Qing Huan knit her brows.

Only when they were right up against the cage did Lin Fan stop moving.

Ye Qing Huan could only take a deep breath and ready herself when she saw the way that Lin Fan raised the token. It was as if she was prepared for a fight the moment that the elders were released.

It was just that this moment never came.

Ye Qing Huan had completely misunderstood Lin Fan’s intentions, even though it was completely understandable why she had misunderstood him. With the way that he was acting, it was only normal that he would be misunderstood like this.

But in reality, Lin Fan was really just testing something.

In the end, his gamble had actually paid off.

"Do you want to open this trap?"

It didn’t even tell him that he needed to use points to open up this cage, he could just do it with a single thought. It really felt like it had been a waste of time going into the pavilion and searching for everything with how things were turning out.

But it wasn’t just that he was able to open the cage or else he wouldn’t have been this happy. He could tell that with just a single thought, he would be able to close the cage again.

So in the end, it turned out that they had gone in a huge circle for nothing.

If Lin Fan had just used the token in the beginning, they could have already solved their problem;

Once he calmed down though, he realized that it wasn’t that simple.

Even if he could have opened and closed this cage before, it still didn’t mean that he would be able to execute this plan. There were still all kinds of different factors that he didn’t know about before this.

But now that he had explored this pavilion and learned about how it was structured, he knew how he would be able to do this.

"I know how we can save him."

Ye Qing Huan was caught off guard when Lin Fan suddenly turned around and said this, but then she looked at him with a skeptical look.

It wasn’t that she wanted to doubt him, but the way that he was acting was just too strange that she had no choice but to wonder if he was still alright.

But hearing what he had to say, Ye Qing Huan started to believe in this plan of his.

It was just that there was something that she had to say, "The timing has to be perfect or else we’ll be in a lot of danger."

Lin Fan gave a nod to acknowledge this, but he still said, "We have to do this."

It wasn’t that Ye Qing Huan wanted to give that warning, it was that she felt that she should.

But since Lin Fan was this determined, there was no reason for her to say anything else anymore.

After all, she wanted to help the Poison King as well.
