When he was done telling the Poison King everything, the Poison King couldn’t help slightly knitting his brows.
It wasn’t that the Poison King was doubting Lin Fan’s words, it was just that the situation was much more complicated than he thought.
He had thought that with the power that Lin Fan demonstrated, they would at least be able to make their way through the Dao Sect ruins easier. But now that he knew what the token actually did, it seemed like things wouldn’t be that easy.
In that case, there really was only one thing that they could do.
"You said that you had a map?"
Lin Fan took out the map without any hesitation and showed it to the Poison King.
The Poison King had a look of deep thought on his face as he looked at the map, but it wasn’t because he couldn’t read it. It was because he was trying to confirm with his own memories how the layout of this place was based on the map.
"This really is quite the detailed map." The Poison King couldn’t help saying with a sigh when he was finished.
The way that he said this had other implications, but they all knew that this wasn’t the time to address it.
Instead, the Poison King started pointing out a few places on the map before saying, "Those are the places that we’ve already explored. There are those that remained behind to see what they could find, including elders from our Heavenly Demon Sect."
His words were more than enough to show what he was thinking.
But it wasn’t as if Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan were against this.
Both of them were thinking about doing the same thing, so they fully supported the Poison King.
It was just that raised an awkward topic for them...
After a moment of hesitation, Ye Qing Huan said, "Actually, there’s an elder who’s currently trapped in the prison of this place."
The Poison King was surprised to hear this, but he could also tell that there was something strange about the way that Ye Qing Huan had said this. It was almost as if she had left out some kind of detail.
Before he could ask, Lin Fan also said, "It was my idea."
Ye Qing Huan narrowed her eyes to look at him before saying, "You didn’t even recognize him, so how could it be your idea?"
"Alright, stop." The Poison King raised his hand to say this before saying, "What is it that you’re keeping from me?"
Looking like children that had been caught, Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan told the Poison King about the elder who was trapped here. During this time, both of them were trying to take credit for leaving the elder trapped in there.
"Ha, ha, ha, I would have done the same. I was already fed up with him back at the sect for always going on about you, so there’s no need to care about him."
Lin Fan and Ye Qing Huan were both taken aback by the Poison King’s sudden burst of laughter.
But they still took the Poison King to see the elder when he asked to see him.
Once the Poison King saw that the elder was fine and was just suffering a bit, it was as if he didn’t even want to spare him a single thought, "As long as he remains alive, then it doesn’t matter. In fact, it’s easier for us if he remains in there for now. Once we gather the others, we can let him out."
The Poison King’s thoughts were the same as theirs, but there were more considerations on his part.
In the end, he chose to leave the elder here because things would be much simpler if he wasn’t here to cause trouble.
It might be one thing if there were others here as well, but it was different when it was the Poison King alone. If it was just the Poison King and the next elder that they rescued was someone on the same side as this elder, then it would be a big problem.
So from this, they had already decided on the order of elders to rescue first.
They would try to find the ones that were on the same side as them first before looking for the other elders.
"Do you have any other information that you can share with us?"
So far, they had only talked about what the path would be and not what the Poison King had been through so far. But they did want to see if they could draw on the experience of the Poison King to know what to do.
With a shake of the head, the Poison King said, "We only sent groups to explore, we didn’t send everyone. So in the end, I have no idea what they experienced during their explorations."
They could understand why the elders had decided to do this.
The one thing that they couldn’t understand was why the elders of the Heavenly Demon Sect would cooperate with the elders of the other righteous sects.
As if the Poison King could read their minds, he said, "Well, it’s desperation. Even we realized that we were out of our depths once we reached this place. So in the end, we had no choice but to work with them."
It was surprising to hear the Poison King admit something like this, but the fact that the Poison King said this showed just how real this was.
It wasn’t as if they didn’t understand where the Poison King was coming from since they had already experienced the might of the Dao Sect. But it was certainly a different feeling to hear the Poison King admit that the Dao Sect was on a different level.
The Poison King was different from them, he was someone that already represented the peak of the cultivation continent.
It was different from them who were still just core disciples of the Heavenly Demon Sect.
"For now, let me teach this one a few things about poison. I can’t give you my true inheritances, but I can teach you a few tricks that will be helpful."
Xiao Mu gave a firm nod when it heard this.
This was something that it already wanted, so it was even better when the Poison King proposed it himself.
The two of them quickly went off to the side and started talking about poisons, a talk that neither Lin Fan or Ye Qing Huan could understand that deeply. They only knew a few things because of their previous knowledge, but it seemed like the Poison King was passing on something that was quite detailed to Xiao Mu.
Ye Qing Huan just raised a brow to look at Lin Fan, but he looked back at her with an expression that showed that he didn’t mind.
"Xiao Mu is one of us."
Ye Qing Huan nodded with a smile when she heard this.
Instead of watching over them, Lin Fan went over to the souls of the disciples to see if there was anything that he could learn from them.
Since they were all souls of past disciples of the Dao Sect, they should have an idea of what those pavilions were.
"Not this one."
Lin Fan couldn’t help deeply frowning the moment that he heard this from Su Ling.
It didn’t help that it wasn’t just Su Ling that was saying this. It seemed like the rest of the disciples were all trying to tell him the same thing.
The problem was that the pavilion that they pointed to was the one that the Heavenly Demon went to. Even if he wanted to ignore it, it wasn’t as if he could actually ignore it.
It wasn’t just for Ye Qing Huan’s sake, but the entire Heavenly Demon Sect.
The Heavenly Demon was the representative of the entire sect as the sect master, so it would be bad if the Heavenly Demon Sect were to lose him. They just couldn’t leave him trapped in these ruins for long.
However, it wasn’t as if Lin Fan could ignore the warnings of the former Dao Sect disciples.
There was a reason that they were this adamant in giving this warning to him, so there had to be something special about this pavilion.
Ye Qing Huan had been beside him and she could tell that something was off with the change in his expression. That was why she narrowed her eyes to force him to tell her what had happened.
When he did, she couldn’t help deeply frowning as well.
But in the end, she just simply said, "When is this different from any other time? If it doesn’t work, then we’ll just leave and come back later. As long as we take over the entire sect, what can’t we do?"
Lin Fan was surprised to see how casual she was about this, but he could tell that this was just a facade.
She was worried about her master, but it wasn’t as if forcing this out was any good.
So in the end, she had no choice but to suppress the emotions in her heart and force herself to be calm like this. Even if she wanted to lose control, it wasn’t as if she could do that in this situation.
Lin Fan just gave a simple nod in response before saying, "Right, there’s nothing that can’t be done as long as we put our minds to it."
But it wasn’t as if this was enough to completely settle Ye QIng Huan’s heart.
