Chapter 161: Chapter 161: Trading Resources for Time
"What price are you planning to offer?"
Andre looked at the three men before him, a playful smile on his face.
Over the past three years, he had been doing more than just killing.
He had looted the ancestral tombs of the three major branches of the Multi-Body Race—the Multi-Heart, Multi-Brain, and Duomu. He took out the vast majority of the items left behind, leaving only a small portion covering the outside for the sake of appearances.
This was to prevent the Multi-Body Race from discovering that their ancestral tombs had been looted by someone.
If that happened, they would undoubtedly search the entire world frantically for the one who had desecrated their ancestral tombs.
Even Andre didn’t want to face a direct assault from dozens of powerhouses at the Level 3 Wizard Level.
"It’s really hard to put a price on something like this. It concerns a Wizard’s second life, so it would have to start at 5 million Magic Stones at the very least."
"If the quality were any better, its price could rival that of a Racial Nest."
Caution filled Rote’s eyes.
A Racial Nest was extremely expensive because of its function.
But it still couldn’t quite compare to the heart in Andre’s hand.
After all, this offered some Wizards the chance to repair their very foundations.
Once these Wizards repaired their foundations, they might be able to advance to a higher Realm.
Therefore, the value of such an item was immeasurable. It was only because they were in this Otherworld, where such things were plentiful...
...that they could sit and negotiate a price. If it were taken back to the academy, droves of Wizards would practically trade their family fortunes to acquire this heart.
It could even trigger a massive war.
After all, no Wizard would want to halt their pursuit of the Truth!
"So, where should we start?"
Andre placed the heart back into his Storage Ring, then looked at Rote and the others.
"Let’s go to the region I’m responsible for first," Rote suggested directly. "The three Tidal Sea Eel nests are in a fairly hidden location on the island, but I’m worried a Magical Beast might beat us to it."
Andre nodded.
He and Rote then boarded their respective Star Realm Battleships and set off for the region Rote had been in charge of, intending to retrieve the three Tidal Sea Eel nests.
After Andre and Rote left the Expedition Base, Piedra and Sander, who were back in the house, stopped their conversation. They stared out the window at the two rapidly departing Star Realm Battleships, an enigmatic glint in their eyes.
They weren’t ready to turn on Andre and Rote just yet.
Especially not Andre. As Radak’s disciple and the grand-disciple of Klein, no one knew what kind of trump cards his elders had left him.
If they moved against Andre and his group rashly, and Andre played those trump cards, they would be the ones to suffer for it.
’These four are bound together by self-interest, but they’re also destined to be torn apart by it. When that happens, it will be my chance.’
Piedra glanced out the window one last time before pulling his gaze away.
He began to sketch out the first map of this world, using the information Andre’s group had provided.
He quickly sketched out a map.
Though the terrain was somewhat imprecise, the major features were all marked.
’The next step is to refine this map. Once the map is complete, the expedition can truly begin.’
Piedra’s eyes gleamed with what could only be called ambition.
Meanwhile, Andre and Rote were in the middle of a conversation aboard their Star Realm Battleship.
"How long do you think Piedra and Sander can hold out?"
Andre asked Rote.
"It depends. If he knows people in the Second Expeditionary Corps, it will be sooner. If he doesn’t, it will be later."
"According to what my family elders told me, the Second Expeditionary Corps was scheduled to depart ten years after us."
"They should be on their way now. In another seven years, they will descend upon this world."
"Seven years is enough." Andre nodded.
’Seven years would be enough time for him to further fill his Chaos Truth Ladder and become a Level 2 Wizard.’
"Are you confident you can conquer this world in seven years?"
Rote was a little confused by Andre’s words.
"How many years have you been an Official Wizard?"
Instead of answering directly, Andre countered with a question for Rote.
"If you don’t count the time spent traveling for the expedition, it’s been twenty-two years. For my sister, it’s been eighteen."
Rote answered readily.
"So, is seven years enough time for us to break through and become Level 2 Wizards?"
Andre asked, a hint of amusement in his tone.
"You’re planning to break through within these seven years?"
Rote understood what Andre meant.
"I’m almost there," Andre said without any attempt to conceal it.
’Right now, the greatest threat to him wasn’t the Multi-Body Race of this world, but Piedra, who had come to this world with him.’
"I’m almost there, too. But the pursuit of Truth isn’t something that can be accomplished overnight!"
"We need time, and time is precisely what we lack."
"Members of the Expeditionary Corps have to spend their time on the expedition, which leaves us very little time for pursuing the Truth."
A hint of resignation crept into Rote’s tone.
"Let’s give it a try," Andre said. "A brand new world is waiting for us to exploit and conquer."
"The resources within this world are more than enough to shorten that timeframe."
Rote was taken aback by Andre’s words for a moment, but then he grew invigorated.
’That’s right. They had an entire undeveloped world at their disposal.’
’Even though this world already had its own civilization and sentient races...’
’...compared to the Wizard Civilization, the Multi-Body Race’s civilization was behind by an untold number of years. They posed no threat at all.’
’And just from their preliminary reconnaissance of this world, they had already discovered several treasure-filled locations.’
’If they kept searching over the next seven years, who knew how many more they might discover.’
’The treasure-filled locations they had found so far were just a fraction of the many that existed in this world; it wasn’t the end of their search.’
"Then let’s give it a try. If we can’t do it with a new world in our hands, then we really are pathetic."
Rote’s words were filled with a sense of challenge.
"Then let’s do it," Andre declared. "When the time comes, we’ll overthrow them!"
A red light flashed in Andre’s eyes.
Then, the two of them urged their respective Star Realm Battleships to accelerate, speeding toward the region Rote had been in charge of.
