Wizard: Grinding to Lord of Truth

Chapter 169: Analyzing the Medicinal Properties

"They look so alike!"

Andre stared at the giant tree before him, his eyes full of confusion.

This giant tree looked far too much like the recording of the Void Tree he had once chanced upon.

So much so that the moment Andre saw it, he was reminded of the Void Tree from that footage.

But the Void Tree was only born in the Star Realm. Once it sprouted, a Void Tree would absorb the Power of Space.

A natural defense formed from a Void Storm would materialize around it.

Under the effects of the Void Storm, the area around a Void Tree would typically be shattered and fragmented.

And these fragments were the very remnants of a shattered void.

Each fragment could easily kill countless people.

But this giant tree before him had nothing around it. The surroundings were nothing like the scene around the Void Tree in the footage.

Yet, judging by the tree itself, the resemblance was uncanny.

The trunk was the same pitch-black, semi-translucent material, and even the leaves looked similar.

'Could it be that because it's not in the Star Realm, it lacks sufficient Power of Space, causing its lineage to degenerate due to the environment?'

Andre wasn't sure, but he flew up and plucked a leaf anyway, preparing to analyze it.

This giant tree was the last Magic Plant Andre and his group were to harvest on the Magic Plant Island.

After landing, Andre immediately took out all the Magic Potion Tools used for analyzing medicinal properties.

"So many!" Rote, Jessica, and Karina stared, their mouths agape in shock, as Andre continuously pulled items out of his Secret Realm.

Right now, the Magic Potion Tools appearing before them were at least five meters tall and eight meters long.

Each piece was covered in dense Witchcraft Curse Seals that formed a Witchcraft Array.

By now, Andre had already pulled out dozens of such Magic Potion Tools.

And from the looks of it, he wasn't done yet.

Half an hour later, Andre had finally taken out all the equipment.

Then, Andre began arranging them in the order they would be used.

He lined up the identical Magic Potion Tools in a row. Once the arrangement was complete, Andre placed the Magic Plants harvested two weeks ago into the apparatuses, added Magic Water, and set the equipment to work.

"With all this equipment, how long is the analysis going to take?!"

The roar of the machinery starting up finally snapped Karina out of her shock.

"A few months if things go smoothly. A year if they don't."

Andre said as he took out the harvested Magic Plants and fed them into the apparatuses one after another.

"That long?" Karina cried out in alarm.

"Did you think this was some small project?"

Andre laughed in exasperation at Karina's words.

"This is an Otherworld. A year is considered fast."

"Besides, these are Magic Plants. If we don't fully analyze their properties before use, would you dare use the Potions we concoct?"

"Is there a faster way, then?"

Karina asked cautiously, seeing the veins bulging on Andre's forehead.

"There is!" Andre nodded.

"What is it?" Jessica asked hastily upon hearing this.

"You eat them. Use your own body as the analysis tool. You eat a Magic Plant and record what effects it has inside you."

"The catch is, you have to survive."

Andre's words made Jessica's face turn deathly pale in an instant.

"Eat them... Is that really an option?" Jessica's voice trembled.

"How else do you think our Wizard predecessors figured out which Magic Plants were safe to use?"

Andre rolled his eyes at Jessica and began bustling between the analysis machines.

'Thankfully, I specifically bought the academy's newest model before the expedition. It can analyze the properties of ten Magic Plants simultaneously. Otherwise, we wouldn't finish in one year, let alone three.'

Andre paused, tossing two more Magic Plants into a machine he had just started.

These Magic Plants were different from the ones he had purchased in the Senbai World.

Back in the Senbai World, he could just buy a Magic Plant, toss it into a grinder or pulverizer to extract its juice, then purify and mix it to concoct a Potion.

But here in this Otherworld, faced with these unfamiliar Magic Plants, he had to test and analyze them bit by bit just to understand their most basic properties.

The only exceptions were extremely famous ones, like the Azure Spring Fruit Tree he had unexpectedly acquired when he claimed the Tidal Sea Eel Nest.

Otherwise, every Magic Plant had to be tested.

Even with the Azure Spring Fruit Tree, he would have to put it through the same process before using it in the future—analyzing its properties, testing for toxicity, and only then confirming it was safe to use.

"That's way too long! We're just going to stay on this island for a whole year?"

Jessica looked to her brother, Rote.

Before Rote could speak, Andre cut in.

"You can do other things. Take out a book, practice your Meditation Technique, pursue the Truth. There are plenty of things for you to do."

"Besides, you're only a Level 1 Wizard right now. Don't tell me you plan to stop climbing the ladder after reaching Level 1?"

Andre's words made Jessica pout and turn her head to look at Rote.

"Andre is right. Our path of Witchcraft hasn't ended, so naturally, we must continue to advance."

Rote readily agreed with Andre. Seeing that her own brother wasn't taking her side, Jessica snorted and turned away.

But it wasn't long before she secretly turned back to watch Andre operate the large-scale Magic Potion Tools.

Just then, Andre took out a Magic Plant harvested two weeks ago, popped it in his mouth, and began to chew.

"Are you trying to get yourself killed?!" Karina was horrified by Andre's actions.

"What do you mean, 'get myself killed'? This Magic Plant exists in other worlds, too. It's called Wisdom Spirit Grass, and it's a very common type."

"Even if different worlds produce different variants with some level of toxicity, it's not enough to kill me."

Andre rolled his eyes, took out a notebook, and recorded the medicinal effects and toxicity of the Wisdom Spirit Grass he was chewing.

He then took out several more Magic Plants, putting them in his mouth and chewing continuously, sensing their effects and toxicity by tasting their juices.

"Are you sure you're okay doing that?"

Andre's actions startled Rote as well.

Just moments ago, Andre had been telling them that Magic Plants had to be analyzed with specialized Magic Potion Tools.

But now, he was eating them himself.

The turnaround was whiplash-inducing.

"It's fine. These are all Magic Plants that exist in other worlds; Wizards have discovered them before."

"Stop making such a fuss, you guys. I'm not an idiot."

Andre looked at the expressions on Rote and Karina's faces, completely exasperated.

'As the only one of the four proficient in Pharmacy—and a Master Alchemist at that—how could he not know which Magic Plants were edible and which weren't?'
