Wizard: My Skills Can Infinitely Break Through

Chapter 381 - 308: Level Five Mother, The Panel’s Might

One second, two seconds, three seconds...

The crystal’s color began to change.

From dark purple to a purplish black, then to a grayish purple...

The liquid substance flowing within the cracks went from boiling to dry, from dry to solid.

Finally... CRACK.

A fissure split across the crystal’s surface, running through its entire body.

Deep within the fissure, there was nothing. It was like a hollowed-out eggshell.

"Sever!"

A low growl escaped Ian’s throat as he abruptly clenched his fists.

The Gravity Vortex contracted to its absolute limit, then... erupted!

An invisible shockwave swept through the entire room.

Bookshelves exploded, walls cracked, and rubble rained down from the ceiling.

The crystal, like a crushed glass ball, silently shattered into countless fine particles.

The moment the scattered dust was touched by the Purification Starlight, it vanished completely.

At the same time, a hoarse, inhuman howl erupted from the bed!

The writhing Tentacles, like snakes with their spines removed, instantly went limp.

The dark purple glow faded from the Tentacles’ surface, leaving behind a deathly, decayed brown.

The Tentacles began to wither, starting from the tips. Bit by bit, they dried out, cracked, and turned to ash.

The black flying insects burst into powder in mid-air before they could even beat their wings.

The inky-black mist thinned and faded at an incredible speed, eventually dissipating completely.

The light from the Crystal Stone Lamp illuminated the room once more.

On the bed, the true face of the twisted figure could finally be seen.

Clan Leader Titus Justice.

He lay on his back, his clothes long since torn to shreds by the Tentacles. His exposed skin was covered in dark brown, dried scabs.

But beneath the scabs, his skin had already returned to its normal color.

Silvery-white chains still bound his limbs, and the Runes on them now glowed faintly once more.

"Haaa..."

Ian let out a long breath, staggered, and steadied himself against the bedpost.

’This time... I really gave it my all.’

His fingertips were ice-cold to the touch. A fine layer of frost had condensed on the wooden post.

It was a remnant from when the pollution ran rampant, causing the room’s temperature to plummet.

His nose was still bleeding. The warm liquid trickled past his lips, carrying the metallic tang of rust.

His eardrums were still ringing, an aftereffect of the earlier shriek.

But he didn’t bother to wipe it away. His gaze was fixed on Titus’s face.

At this moment, the face finally looked "human" again.

His eyes were closed, his brows tightly furrowed, and his lips were colorless.

But his breathing was steady—no longer the coarse, ragged gasps from before, but the normal breaths of a sleeping man.

And deep within that breath, Ian’s Spiritual Power detected an extremely faint fluctuation of the Soul.

It was Titus’s own fluctuation.

It was weak, exhausted, like a candle flame flickering in the wind, but it was undeniably there.

It hadn’t been completely devoured by the pollution.

’The severance was a success...’

Ian murmured to himself, the corners of his lips slowly curling into a slight smile.

He hadn’t completely purified the pollution. Not only was he incapable of it, but it would have been very dangerous.

That crystal was merely a subsidiary body. The true Pollution Source, rooted deep in Titus’s Soul, was still dormant.

If it were his own pollution, even a Level Five affliction, Ian could have purified it in an instant.

But the pollution on Titus was Level Four, and trying to perform a Purification inside the man’s Sea of Spirit, Ian feared exposing the existence of his panel.

The Soul of a Level Three Peak Wizard, even one dormant and unconscious, still had a faint awareness of the outside world.

Fortunately, he had personally severed the "umbilical cord" connecting to the Mother in Burning Canyon.

From now on, the pollution within Titus would be cut off from the Mother’s Energy supply and its conscious command.

All that remained was a rootless, dead thing that could only be passively worn away, bit by bit, by Purification Potions.

It would be slow, but there would be no more outbreaks.

It would take time, but it would no longer be out of control. That was enough.

"Cough..."

A faint cough came from the bed.

Ian looked down. Titus’s brow furrowed even more tightly, and his chapped lips twitched as if he were trying to say something.

But no sound came out, only the vague friction of air from deep in his throat.

Ian leaned down, turning his ear to listen.

The sound was intermittent, like sleep-talking or some kind of instinctive, unconscious whisper.

But Ian heard the last syllable clearly.

"...Thanks..."

It was faint, like the wind blowing across fine dust.

But it was, without a doubt, that word.

Ian straightened up, looking at the Clan Leader on the bed.

"Don’t thank me."

He said in a low voice, "I just... didn’t want my previous investment to go to waste."

With that said, he turned and walked toward the door.

Behind him, the residual light of the Purification Orbit still swirled slowly in the air.

Silvery Starlight fell upon Titus, like a thin, warm blanket.

It fell upon the shell of a body that had been ravaged by pollution for years.

Ian pushed open the door. The light from the hallway streamed in, a bit dazzling.

Aidele stood three steps away, the hem of her deep purple Long Robe trembling slightly.

She stared at Ian, her lips moving as if she wanted to say something, but not a single word came out.

Something crystalline welled in her eyes.

"Don’t worry, your father is fine now."

Ian’s voice was calm, showing no sign of the desperate struggle from just moments before.

"Contact a Medical Wizard you trust and prepare for the follow-up Purification. Also..."

Ian paused for a moment, looking at Aidele.

"Do not repeat what I’m about to say to anyone. Your father’s pollution was linked to an extremely powerful Pollution Source, but I have already severed it. The rest can be dealt with slowly."

Aidele took a deep breath and nodded forcefully.

The tear, in the end, did not fall.

She nodded, her voice hoarse, "Okay. I won’t tell anyone."

Aidele’s feelings at this moment were extremely complex.

There was worry for her father, as well as gratitude toward Ian.

There was even... a secret thrill from sharing a secret with him.

Ian walked past her, and Gaga peeked its small head out from his shoulder.

Its silver-gray pupils glanced at Aidele before it retreated back into its feathers.

His footsteps echoed in the hallway, growing more and more distant.

Aidele stood rooted to the spot, watching the dark gray figure disappear down the stairwell.

Then, she turned and pushed open her father’s door.

In the light of the Crystal Stone Lamp, Titus lay quietly, his breathing steady.

His face, though pale, was no longer the twisted, inhuman pallor from before.

Aidele walked to the bedside and slowly knelt down.

She reached out, her fingertips gently touching the back of her father’s hand.

It was cool to the touch, no longer carrying the sinister chill of the pollution.

Tears finally slid silently down her cheeks.

"Father..." she murmured, her forehead resting on the edge of the bed, her shoulders trembling slightly.

Outside the door, Delia and Naseng stood silently, complex expressions on their faces.

They both gazed toward the stairwell, where the dark gray figure had long since vanished.

Then they retracted their gazes, looking back at the figure kneeling by the bed inside the room.

After a long while, Delia murmured to herself.

"This favor... The Justice Clan owes him a huge one."

...

Ian quietly returned to No. 7 Wisteria Lane.

He sat before the stone platform, massaging his temples with his fingertips.

Forcibly maintaining the Gravity Vortex and Purification Beam had left his Sea of Spirit throbbing with pain.

The nosebleed had stopped, but his eardrums were still ringing.

Gaga perched on his shoulder, its little claws gently gripping his collar.

"Ian, you were... really amazing, gaga."

Its child-like voice held a rare seriousness.

"When that big eyeball appeared, even I was scared. But you weren’t affected at all."

Ian tugged at the corner of his mouth but didn’t explain.

He glanced at the edge of his vision, where a new line of information floated quietly on the illusory panel.

[Level Five Abyssal Mother Soul coordinate lock detected...]

[Tracking automatically blocked...]

[Warning: The target has memorized your Soul’s aura.]

Ian stared at the line of text. Deep within his pupils, three Star Orbits slowly rotated.

After a long time, he murmured to himself soundlessly.

’So it dares to hold a grudge... Then bring it on.’

’Once I’ve mastered a few paths of the Rules...’

’We’ll see who’s hunting who then!’

Outside the window, the night deepened.

On the distant eastern horizon, in the direction of Burning Canyon, a dark purple light flashed for a moment before vanishing.

It was as if a behemoth had opened its eyes, or as if some ancient being had slowly turned around.
