Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree
Chapter 884 - 784: Two Years Later (Part 2)From the bustling crowd of hundreds, only one hundred and four remain at this moment.
Duke stands among the crowd, his gaze sweeping over those familiar faces.
Vera stands in the front row, her white magic robe strikingly noticeable among the crowd, her profile still cool, but with a newfound composure in her expression.
Leon stands beside her, his armor bearing several new scratches, but his back remains straight.
Morris stands in the shadow at the edge, wearing a dust-colored robe, his pale face, and those hollow eyes looking forward, not knowing what he sees.
Lis stands towards the back of the line, her magic robe newly replaced, the insignia of the Tower of Ashes gleaming on her collar.
Tension mingles with a hint of anticipation on her face.
She has remained, one of the one hundred and four.
The side door at the front of the hall opens.
Alfred steps out.
He still wears that plain gray-white robe, the small silver spiral insignia pinned to his chest.
His hair and beard are all white, his face thin, his pace unhurried, yet each step seems to tread upon the rhythm of time itself.
Cohen accompanies him at his side, wearing a dark gray magic robe, his cold, hard features, and light gray eyes scanning the audience as if counting heads.
Alfred steps onto the podium and stands still.
His gaze slowly sweeps across the one hundred and four faces, those eyes reflecting the starry sky holding an indescribable emotion.
It’s something more faded, more distant, like having seen through the years yet still maintaining reverence for them.
"Three years." His voice is not loud, yet it clearly reaches everyone’s ears, "Three years ago, you stood here. Three years later, you still stand here." He pauses, "This in itself is a proof."
There is no sound below the stage; everyone holds their breath in concentration.
Alfred continues, "Among you, some will stay in the Central Islands, join the Six-Ring Tower, and participate in the plane’s top-level actions; some will return to their own forces, become the backbone, holding up a part of the world; some will embark on a broader path, exploring the unknown planes, pursuing truths never reached by anyone." His gaze sweeps over everyone, "But no matter where you go, one thing will not change - you are members of the Six-Ring Tower."
"From today, you are entitled to enjoy the privileges of members of the Six-Ring Tower." Alfred’s voice remains calm, "Library, training ground, resource exchange... your access has been fully upgraded. Meanwhile, you may also participate in various large-scale plane operations of the Six-Ring Tower."
He pauses, his gaze becoming more profound.
"Those operations, involve the top levels of the wizard plane. Exploring unknown planes, pioneering new territories, confronting plane-level threats - you will encounter things you have never encountered before, face challenges you have never faced before. Of course, the premise is your own power is sufficient. The Six-Ring Tower does not support the idle. How far you can go depends entirely on you."
Below the stage, someone clenches their fist, someone takes a deep breath, someone’s eyes ignite with fire.
Three years of grinding, three years of elimination, none who stand here are here by luck.
They know that from today on, they are no longer trainees but official members of the Six-Ring Tower.
This identity means higher privileges, and also greater responsibilities.
Alfred’s speech did not last long, what followed was various procedures to be handled.
Everyone’s Six-Ring Tower badge had its permissions upgraded, making them official members entitled to access any authorized place within the Six-Ring Tower.
The contribution points they accumulated over these three years were also directly converted into Six-Ring Tower contribution points.
Duke, after expenses, has a remaining fifteen thousand contribution points from these three years.
In the future, earning contribution points will not be so easy, no longer can they earn points just by attending classes or passing exams.
The dormitory in Zone 7 can still be stayed in for free, considered as their temporary residence at the Six-Ring Tower.
However, if one wishes to move inside the Six-Ring Tower, contribution points will be required.
Duke learned in recent days that even the cheapest room inside the Six-Ring Tower requires one hundred thousand points to purchase.
Though expensive, the conditions there are special.
The concentration of free energy particles need not be mentioned; the Six-Ring Tower itself is a giant Wizard Tower, and the internal free energy particle concentration is comparable to many High Planes.
You can also pay to further increase the concentration, used for daily cultivation.
The labs inside are top-notch as well, relying on the complete Wizard Tower infrastructure of the Six-Ring Tower, everything is the best.
There are many ways to earn contribution points, completing tasks and submitting contributions can earn you some points.
These depend on the wizard themselves.
Some wizards come here only to gain prestige, obtaining the identity of a Six-Ring Tower member without planning to stay permanently.
Duke plans to first make a trip back to Black Sail, this is also what Lucas had told him; after completing his studies he needs to return for a bit.
The member identity of the Six-Ring Tower does not conflict with Black Sail, his status in Black Sail will also enhance accordingly.
Three days later, Duke stands at the Teleportation Plaza.
Beside him are those same students leaving, some face reluctance, some show expectation, some remain expressionless.
Vera stands not far from him, her white magic robe gently fluttering in the morning breeze.
She glances at him, nodding slightly, and Duke nods in return.
Leon comes over, giving him a hearty slap on the shoulder.
"Brother, when you get back to the West Coast, remember to come find me for a drink."
Duke nods, "Okay."
Morris walks through the crowd without looking at anyone, not saying goodbye to anyone.
His figure disappears in the light of the teleportation array as if he never existed.
Duke retrieves his gaze, stepping towards the teleportation array.
The blue light swallows everything, and when his vision clears again, he is standing on the teleportation array in Harbor City, West Coast.
Exiting, the sea breeze is salty and wet, the sky azure, and in the distance seagulls fly over the sea surface.
Duke arrives at the seaside, and after communicating with the Black Sail Badge, a dark demon soon rows a small boat over.
He takes out a smoked deer heart prepared years ago from his Space Ring and throws it over, hoping it hasn’t gone bad.
The dark demon grins, eating it whole, seemingly unfazed by its taste.
Upon returning to Black Sail, Duke steps onto the familiar dock of the deserted island.
The planks are still the same, but new salt-tolerant plants have sprouted in the gaps, their tender green leaves swaying gently in the saline breeze.
The posts on the dock are covered in barnacles, a layer thicker than three years ago.
In the distance, the gray stone walls of the castle glow warmly in the afternoon sun, plants in the Magic Potion Field more lush than when he left, the herbal fragrance mingling with the sea breeze causing him to squint slightly.
Three years have passed.
Yala quickly runs over, her silver hair flowing like moonlight in the sun, her emerald eyes sparkle as she sees him, a faint blush appearing on her pale cheeks.
She wears a light green Elf Long Dress, the hem lifted by the wind as she runs, revealing a slender calf.
She stops in front of Duke, slightly breathless, her chest rising and falling, those emerald eyes gazing at him, lips moving a few times before finally saying, "Lord Duke, you’ve returned."
Duke nods, Yala slightly bows, stepping aside to follow him towards the castle.
Her steps are light, silver hair swirling in the wind, the light green dress clinging to her, accentuating her graceful figure.
Nina comes to greet him at the castle gate, her honey-colored skin glowing with health in the sunlight, her cat-like heterochromatic eyes filled with joy.
She wears a loose silk robe, the neckline low, revealing glimpses of fullness, the belt loosely tied at her waist, accentuating her slender waist and full hips.
Her bare feet on the cool stone slabs, a thin silver chain around her ankle making faint jingles as she walks.
She stops in front of Duke, her cat ears twitching lightly, tail gently swaying behind her.
