Three days later.
If not for feeling sorry for Yala and Nina, Duke could have continued.
Ever since cultivating the Elemental Holy Body, his physique had become incredibly strong, and so had his desires and abilities in that aspect.
But Duke had always been a rational person. A little indulgence was fine, but he would never succumb to it.
Upon returning to the Light God Court, Duke also began to organize his current state.
He glanced at the attribute panel on the Skill Tree.
[Constitution: 263.3]
[Strength: 270.2]
[Agility: 279.1]
[Spirit: 501.9]
The attributes of his body had all greatly improved, all thanks to the cultivation of the Elemental Holy Body.
[Elemental Holy Body: Level 2 (51700/100000)]
Over the past two years, he spent a massive amount of Magic Stones on it, only to push the cultivation of the Elemental Holy Body halfway through Level 2.
Duke had spent a total of five billion on it, now he only had a billion Magic Stones left.
The White Mist Forest Potion did bring him a huge income, but it had almost been entirely spent quickly.
The accounts generally settled once a year, and the next settlement would take about half a year, expected to bring in fifty to sixty billion.
In terms of Spiritual Power, he finally broke through five hundred points, getting very close to the threshold of 512 points for a Level 3 Mage.
However, what restricted the promotion from a Level 2 Mage was never just Spiritual Power, but the ability to comprehend Rule Power.
This couldn’t be achieved merely by amassing Spiritual Power.
Comprehending Rule Power either relied on one’s exceptionally high insight and Talent, or external aids like the Key of Rules.
But the Key of Rules was extremely rare, and even if someone acquired it, it would almost never circulate to the outside market.
A single Key of Rules represented the probability of cultivating a Level 3 Mage, which was an undeniable force for any power.
Duke had been keeping an eye on related information for three years, but there had been no results.
He also relied on himself to comprehend, gaining a deeper understanding of various Elemental Powers, but still unable to reach the rule level.
This was still built on Duke having a High Affinity Talent for various attributes, it would be even more difficult for others.
Duke knew that this couldn’t be rushed and could only be pursued gradually.
He closed his eyes, letting his consciousness sink into the Spiritual Sea.
The Six-Element Compound Spiritual Crystal in the center of the Spiritual Sea spun slowly, emitting six-colored rays.
He could feel that his affinity with the six elements was much deeper than three years ago, and those Elemental Particles followed his thoughts like the most obedient vassals.
But that was merely elemental control, not rules.
Rules were deeper, the laws behind the operation of elements, the underlying logic of the universe’s operation.
He could see the existence of those rules, in the fleeting glimpse the Plane’s will cast during the Level 2 promotion, in the obscure classics of the library, in the meditation and comprehension day after day.
But he couldn’t grasp them, as if separated by a transparent glass, visible but untouchable.
Duke opened his eyes, not continuing to dwell on it.
Comprehension of rules was not something to be rushed; he still had a lot of time.
He stood up and walked out of the Divine Court.
When he returned to the study, the Wizard’s Mark conveyed a message.
He probed with his Spiritual Power, and a line of text emerged: "Shari and Tom request an audience."
Duke glanced at it and replied with a single word: "Enter."
A moment later, the study door was gently pushed open.
Shari walked in first, followed by Tom.
Duke’s gaze swept over the two, feeling a slight stir in his heart.
Shari was wearing a well-tailored dark blue Magic Robe, with the Giant Rock Commerce Association emblem on the collar.
Her aura was stable and contained, Magic Power fluctuations were solid, evidently already a Level 1 Gaseous Wizard.
Shari’s appearance had matured a lot compared to a few years ago, with a touch of competence between her brows, and less of the naivety of the past.
She stopped in front of Duke, bowing slightly: "Lord Duke, I have returned."
Duke nodded, his gaze settling on her: "At Level 1?"
"Yes." Shari’s lips slightly curled up, with a hint of unobtrusive pride, "Ascended last year, the resources from Giant Rock Commerce Association were decent, combined with the Magic Potions you provided, the process was fairly smooth."
Duke looked at her for a few breaths and then nodded: "Not bad."
Shari’s eyes brightened a bit more, but she quickly reigned it in, returning to her poised competence.
"The matters on the Giant Rock Commerce Association side have been handled. Steward Harrison said the next quarter’s share will be promptly transferred to your account at Black Sail. I’ve also categorized and sorted out some miscellaneous matters, which you can review at any time."
Duke nodded again: "Thank you for your hard work."
Duke’s gaze shifted from Shari to Tom behind her.
Then he was slightly astonished, Tom had changed a lot.
The frail, timid, and vacant-eyed boy from a few years ago now stood before him as a completely different being.
He had grown more than half a head taller than three years ago, with broad shoulders, a straight back, and the sturdy muscular lines under the Magic Robe were discernible.
Tom had a scar on his face, running diagonally from the left brow to the right cheekbone, narrowly missing the eye.
His eyes were no longer vacant but sharp, determined, carrying a glow that made it difficult for people to look directly at him.
But his aura was mixed.
Not the pure Magic Power fluctuation, but a turbid, wild energy as if something lay dormant within him, ready to awaken at any moment.
Duke’s brow slightly furrowed: "Tom?"
