Ares quickly adjusted his strategy; since the opponent wouldn’t let him close, he expanded his attack range.
War Rules erupted from his body, forming a continuously expanding aura of battle will around him.
Within the aura, all enemy Rule Power would be forcibly pulled, interfered with, and suppressed by the War Rules.
This was one of the rare means he could use as a Level 4 Knight to affect mid to long-range battlefields, at the cost of enormous consumption; each aura shockwave burned the energy equivalent to a Tier Three High Stage Mage’s full Magic Power.
Jin Mo felt the pressure of that war aura.
The operation speed of the four kinds of Rule Power was significantly reduced, and the smoothness of switching was also compromised.
A trace of seriousness flashed in his heterochromatic pupils; this Level 4 Knight was inferior to him in the realm of rules, but the dominance of War Rules was sufficient to make up for the gap within a certain range.
But it was only a temporary compensation.
Jin Mo took a deep breath, and the dark golden luster on his body began to condense inward.
The four kinds of Rule Power were no longer released but compressed inside his body.
This was not a signal to retreat but a precursor to a higher-level attack.
Ares also felt it, his legs suddenly exerted force, the ice surface underfoot was stomped into a deep pit with a diameter of several tens of meters, and his whole body shot towards Jin Mo like a silver cannonball.
He had to seize this opportunity to act, but it was already too late.
Jin Mo’s movements suddenly stopped, not because he was interrupted, but because he deliberately stopped himself.
He suddenly raised his head, looking towards the direction of the Black Stone Plain, and for the first time, vigilance flashed in his heterochromatic pupils.
Ares did not let this flaw slip by, punching Jin Mo in the chest.
Jin Mo did not dodge; he took Ares’s punch head-on, his body blasted back dozens of meters, with a trace of dark golden blood seeping from the corner of his mouth.
But he did not fight back; instead, he continued to stare in the direction of the Black Stone Plain, fully opening his perception to repeatedly confirm the extremely faint but truly existent energy fluctuation he had just captured.
"Level 5... there can be no mistake."
Jin Mo had seen the actions of Level 5 Life on the battlefield and had sensed the energy ripples of Level 5 Elemental Dominator’s full release from afar.
The qualitative change in that aura was completely different from Level 4; no matter how strong Level 4 was, it was still in the realm of Divine Status, while Level 5 had surpassed Divine Status, entering the scope of domain.
Within the domain, the rules were dictated by them, and all Level 4 and below life forms in that range would be suppressed to an irreparable extent.
Such an existence, once serious, was not something he, as a Level 4 Middle Tier, could fend off.
The rounds of entanglement with Ares earlier hadn’t been with full force on his part, but indeed, it had taken far too long.
A Level 4 Knight dragging him, a demigod-level Mage under his nose for so long; the accumulated time was more than enough for Level 5 beings on the invader’s side to receive the information and react.
Without a trace of indecision, Jin Mo’s body retreated.
Underfoot, the ice surface silently melted, his body sinking into magma like diving into water, with dark golden light flashing briefly in the dark red magma.
As he sunk, he condensed his aura to the extreme, with all four kinds of Rule Power contained, retaining only a fragile thread of Flame Rules to maintain the movement in fire element form.
With this degree of concealment, even the perception of a Level 5 existence would find it difficult to precisely lock onto his position in such a short time.
Ares followed for two steps before halting, not because he didn’t wish to pursue, but because he knew clearly he couldn’t catch up.
He had just witnessed Jin Mo’s speed in magma, and given his current condition, proceeding would risk stepping outside the support range of the Level 5 existence in the Black Stone Plain, possibly jeopardizing himself.
Standing at the shattered ice plain’s center, he looked down at the still-bleeding wound on his chest, then to the direction of Jin Mo’s disappearance, showing no expression on his dark-silver face.
Approximately three seconds after Jin Mo disappeared, a silent figure appeared beside Ares.
The newcomer looked to be in his early forties, with meticulously combed deep-brown short hair, features sharply defined, high brow ridge, sunken eye sockets, and rare amber eyes.
He wore a tailored deep blue Wizard Robe, its hem automatically dropping when the teleportation glow faded without a crease.
A silver Six-Ring Badge was pinned to his chest, bordered with five thin gold threads, the mark of a Level 5 Mage.
His name was Alviss, the deputy minister of conquest and strategy at the Six-Ring Tower Plane, a Level 5 Mage specializing in both Fire Element and Light Element double Rules, with his domain prototype already stabilized.
The commander of the Black Stone Plain campaign was him; Ares and more than a dozen legions’ maneuvering, the secret task of cutting off the ore veins, and the encirclement strategy targeting the Black Stone Plain all stemmed from his battle plans.
"Ares." Alviss’ voice was exceptionally piercing, each word securely nailed in the air, "How is the injury."
"Won’t die." Ares shifted his shoulder; a few muffled sounds came from his bones, "A few days of recovery will be enough. Mateo is worse off, Frost Heart is shattered, but he’s alive."
He nodded towards Mateo, who was leaning against an ice column in the distance; he knew how much Mateo cherished that Frost Heart, hinting humor in his remarks.
Alviss glanced at Mateo, confirmed he was still alive, and withdrew his gaze.
