World Apocalypse: Apocalust

Chapter 50 - L - Gold Pulls Red

Chapter 50: Chapter L - Gold Pulls Red

The silver orb began to spin faster, its glow intensifying with every rotation. Unlike the bronze orb, which had erupted almost immediately, this one seemed to build toward something, thin threads of silver light peeling away from its surface and spiraling around it like rings around a planet.

Noah watched with growing anticipation.

Come on...

The rings suddenly collapsed inward. The orb compressed into a brilliant point of silver before bursting apart in a flash.

Noah squinted against the light as a soft chime echoed through the room. When the brightness finally faded, another reward hung suspended within the violet interface.

〔Gacha Reward Obtained〕

Noah stared at the unfamiliar icon for a moment. It wasn’t a weapon, an item, or anything else he could recognize. Instead, the System displayed another ability—a familiar one.

〔Pleasure Conversion〕

...You’ve got to be kidding me.

The name alone brought back the memory of his first awakening, when he’d been presented with the same ability alongside Eros. Back then, he’d dismissed both as impractical and chosen abilities that would help him survive. Now, after receiving Eternal Stamina from the Bronze Gacha, the System had apparently decided to hand him the ability he’d rejected anyway.

A slow rub of his forehead followed, Noah’s fingers pressing against his brow as he worked through a thought.

"You’re really trying to tell me something, aren’t you?"

〔...I am merely providing the reward you have won. Any implications you choose to derive from it are entirely your own.〕

Noah scrutinized the screen for a second, then gave up.

"...Right."

〔Pleasure Conversion〕

〔Rarity: Rare〕

〔Type: Passive Ability〕

〔Description: A portion of pleasure experienced by the user may be converted into physical energy, temporarily reducing fatigue and restoring stamina. The amount of energy recovered is proportional to the intensity of the pleasure experienced.〕

Noah read through the description again, his eyes moving slowly from one glowing line to the next. The ability was undeniably strange, especially compared to the practical, combat-ready skills he had chosen the night he first awakened, but something about it kept pulling him back in.

The power to take any sensation—heat, ache, pressure, pleasure—and twist it, amplify it, feed it back into the body until it became something else entirely. Something sharper. Something sweeter.

His mind drifted, unbidden, to the memory of Sage’s mouth on his barely a few minutes ago. The velvet slide of her tongue, the soft gasp she’d fed him when he lifted her off the ground, the way her thighs had trembled against his when she hit the edge of the bed. He could still feel the ghost of her breath, warm and ragged, against his lips.

Noah shook his head, ridding himself of those thoughts, even if just temporarily. His gaze returned to the description, lingering on the final sentence.

The amount of energy recovered is proportional to the intensity of the pleasure experienced.

He exhaled through his nose, already suspecting the System knew exactly what it was doing. Still, he couldn’t deny the ability had potential. Eternal Stamina would keep him going longer, while Pleasure Conversion could turn that same exertion into something useful. The combination was strange, but undeniably effective.

The bathroom door caught his attention once again.

Still nothing.

〔AP: 600〕

He stared at the number for a moment. He’d already tested Bronze. Silver had given him a Rare ability, and now he had a pretty good idea of how the system worked. Now there was only one he could afford to test.

Gold.

Five hundred AP.

That would leave him with only one hundred, but—

...Fuck it.

Noah sat up straighter and looked at the Gold option. If he was going to understand the Gacha, he might as well find out what a higher-tier pull could actually give him.

〔Gold Gacha Selected〕

〔Cost: 500 AP〕

〔Proceed with purchase?〕

〔Yes〕〔No〕

〔Yes〕

〔AP: 100〕

The interface vanished, and a brilliant golden orb appeared before him, its warm radiance filling the attic with a faint buttery glow.

"...Please be worth five hundred."

The golden orb remained motionless for several seconds, hovering in front of Noah as though deliberately making him wait. Its surface shimmered with waves of molten gold, casting soft reflections across the attic walls.

Then it began to rotate.

The movement was slow at first, almost lazy, but the speed steadily increased until the orb became a blur of golden light. Rings of energy formed around it, one after another, each spinning at a different angle as the air around Noah seemed to grow heavier. He leaned forward, completely invested now.

Come on...

The rings pulled inward.

The entire orb collapsed into a pinpoint of blinding gold before exploding outward with a deep, resonant chime. Noah instinctively raised an arm to shield his eyes as the golden light flooded the attic, lingering for several seconds before gradually receding.

When he finally lowered his arm, his gaze immediately fell upon the reward suspended within the violet interface.

Disbelief flashed across his face, his body going rigid.

〔Gacha Reward Obtained〕

〔Heavenly Physique〕

〔Rarity: Mythic〕

For several seconds, Noah simply stared.

Mythic?

His eyes moved back to the word, almost expecting it to change.

It didn’t.

He had gone from an Uncommon ability with Bronze to a Rare ability with Silver, and now, somehow, his first Gold pull had jumped all the way to Mythic.

"...No fucking way."

The System remained silent, allowing the information to settle before displaying the ability’s description.

〔Type: Passive Ability〕

〔Description: The user’s body is gradually enhanced beyond ordinary biological limits. Physical attributes, stamina, recovery, resistance, and adaptability are permanently increased, with further improvements occurring as the user’s level and potential increase.〕

Noah read the description once.

Then again.

His expression slowly shifted from disbelief to something much closer to genuine excitement.

This is actually insane.

Unlike Eternal Stamina or Pleasure Conversion, this wasn’t some specialized ability with a narrow application. It affected his entire body. Strength. Stamina. Recovery. Resistance. And, apparently, it would continue developing alongside him.

His gaze dropped toward the bottom of the screen.

〔Heavenly Physique〕

A slow grin spread across his face.

"...Yeah."

He leaned back against the bed, shaking his head.

"I’d say that five hundred AP was worth it."

However, before he could settle with his win, the System interrupted.

The violet interface flickered, and the golden glow disappeared entirely. A new message replaced it, stark and immediate.

〔All available rewards have been issued.〕

〔Beginning integration process.〕

Noah’s brow furrowed.

"Huh—"

Pain slammed into him like a freight train going off the rails.

His entire body seized as something impossibly intense tore through him from head to toe, surging through every muscle, bone, and nerve at once. It felt as though a thousand horses had suddenly been unleashed inside his body, each one pulling in a different direction as his muscles tightened and his nerves screamed beneath the strain.

Noah’s back arched violently against the mattress.

"HNGH!"

His voice came out muffled behind his hand, unwilling to risk panicking Sage a door away or Levy—if he happened to hear him from two floors below.

Hands clenched into the sheets, fingers digging deep into the fabric as his breathing fractured into short, ragged gasps. Heat tore through his veins like molten fire, spreading through every limb as muscles tightened and bones seemed to shift beneath his skin. His entire body felt as though it were being pulled apart and forcibly rebuilt, each wave of sensation leaving him trembling beneath the strain.

Another wave hit, and vision was gradually becoming a luxury.

What the hell is happening?!

What was only a minute stretched into hours beneath the relentless strain. The pain never truly eased; it came in waves, each one running through Noah’s body with enough force to leave him trembling, only for the sensation to be replaced by another before he could recover.

Then, just as suddenly as it had begun, it stopped.

The sheets were soaked with sweat, his chest rising and falling rapidly as he struggled to catch his breath. For several seconds, he could do nothing but stare at the ceiling, bracing himself for another wave of pain that never came.

Instead, something else settled over him.

Strength.

He slowly pushed himself upright, blinking as he flexed his fingers. His body felt... different. Lighter, yet somehow denser. Every movement felt sharper and more deliberate, as though his body had suddenly become better suited to obeying every command his mind gave it.

Noah stood from the bed.

He rolled his shoulders, taking a slow breath.

The exhaustion he’d expected was nowhere to be found.

If anything, he felt invigorated.

Powerful.

His eyes widened slightly.

"...Holy shit."
