[Kingdom Quest One Launched - Defend your Borders]

Dom sat and read all of the notifications as they came up in front of him, firstly happy to see that he had completed the Kingdom Quest and had received a high grade for it. He was excited to see what his rewards would be, as his last few rewards had all been extremely helpful. He knew he was the first to launch a Kingdom based on the update information so he expected them to be high.

What did worry him however was the two Quests that had just appeared. The first being that a battle was about to happen in five days and it would be a defensive one. Eruthros was a good location, it was placed on the Western Border where a wall was being built between the Red Hare Valley and the Calm River. A Fort was already placed beside the Calm River part of Eruthros that had been used a while ago. There was also a small detachment placed there as part of Ling Tong’s forces, as well as his small Calm River Fleet.

The second quest made him feel exposed, it seemed that the enemy had been on the periphery of them for a while now and no one had noticed. The fact that the system told him that they needed to learn about the enemies first also told Dom that it wasn’t someone they had fought or met before. In his mind that ruled out Papaver, the Type 3’s and even the escaped Bagoas from Tongpai Town. It also ruled out any of the other cities they had met on the coast and traded with, or the Tongpai Lake residents due to both Geography and that they were known locations.

Dom looked around, still sat on his throne as people cheered his coronation and the founding of the Kingdom. He exhaled for a moment, as he looked at the mass of Heroes he had in front of him, especially his Generals such as Subutai, Gan Ning and Tomyris who had just helped crown him. He knew that whilst it was a worrying situation, he had people around him that could support him. He had also just accepted the role as defender of this Kingdom and would make sure he completed this quest as a priority to anything else.

After a few more moments, Dom stood up and bowed slightly to the crowd, before walking down the steps of the stage and towards the entrance of the Town Centre, with the crowd watching and applauding as he walked past them. He soon reached the entrance, the sun catching his eyes as he walked out to the waiting crowd. His Warriors were stood, creating a never ending path towards the Palace. Behind them stood thousands of people in the crowd, cheering and watching.

Dom began walking to the Palace, keeping his head up straight as he walked and trying to not catch the eye of the Civilians. Behind him was Meritamen and Sun Shangxiang, followed by the Heroes, Guests and others as they began leaving the Town Centre. Dom suddenly felt worried for a moment, what if the enemy wasn’t just watching them from afar but was within his borders watching.

Dom remembered back to one of the original times they had met another group in World Conquest Online. The first time had been with the Gluttonous Chief’s Village, but soon after they had met Banas’s Tribe. Bagoas had sneaked in some spies in to Banas’s Camp, poisoning her husband and many of her Warriors. He had done that by putting them in as part of the daily spawns. The Lazarus Kingdom had now grown and grown to a stage that there were many different people spawning in different cities on a daily basis and it was quite possible that even with everything that they had put in place with registration, that someone may have sneaked in.

He tried to push the thought to the back of his mind as he continued walking, but for a small moment he felt vulnerable in his own armour, not just for himself but also for his friends Andrew and Kai that were in the group walking behind him, and his two wives, one of whom carried his child. Whilst it was a game, even his Aunt had explained the importance of keeping his Heroes safe.

They soon arrived at the Palace, with no mishaps happening as Ban Jieyu stood waiting for them. Dom was surprised she was here, as he had seen her in the crowd in the Great Hall and she impressed him once again.

"Lord, no, King Lazarus." She greeted him politely, "Some more comfortable clothes are awaiting you upstairs. I will make sure the guests are all seated for the celebration whilst you change."

"Just call me Lazarus." Dom replied to her with a smile, knowing that amongst the many things that were happening right now, this was someone he trusted almost above anyone else. He was about to head upstairs, whilst Meritamen and Sun Shangxiang hovered for a moment, before heading inside the hall of the Palace, so they could catch up with their own guests for a few minutes whilst Dom sorted himself out. "Can you send Subutai and Shang Yang upstairs please when they arrive."

"I will do, King Lazarus." Ban Jieyu replied with a teasing smile as Dom shook his head with a smile in response, before heading upstairs to remove his armour and change in to some evening clothes. Two of his Batavi Guards were waiting for him in the middle floor, not many people were allowed in the upstairs of the Palace, but the Batavi Guards were an exception. They were here to help Dom remove his armour and would then leave him. They quickly unfastened the breastplate and removed it, placing it gently on one of the Chaise Lounge’s in the living space, before unfastening his greaves. They then bowed and left him whilst Dom headed to his own floor to check his rewards.

"System, can you show me the Town Stats?" Dom asked, wondering what the changes would be.

"No thanks." Dom replied, knowing that he had enough to do and he could already understand the majority of what was seeing. Dom re-read the stats, seeing that the main difference was that everything had been consolidated. Towns could still be upgrades through Building Levels and Population Increases through the Town and City routes, however the overall Kingdom spawns could be managed easier.

The original Perks had also remained, but were now Kingdom wide and not city wide, which was a huge victory as in a way everything had received an upgrade to S class, even if that wasn’t necessarily the full case. The current daily spawns was an amalgamation of the different spawn numbers from each City and Town and had not actually increased, but he expected that they would once those Towns and Cities levelled up.

The new Perks were helpful, one allowed his Kingdom to grow faster with it’s building types. They were already trying to redraw some of the buildings such as the Bathhouse, but it had complicated plumbing and heating systems that would take Sostratus a long time to replicate, now they could grab a schematic from a shelf within the new Parliament Building and give it to Wang Shu and the builders to create. The other Perk increased their food production from building types, so whilst it didn’t help with the farms, it did help with spawn related buildings like the Ox and Sheep Husbandries, as well as the Wine Orchards.

Dom could hear the sound of Subutai and Shang Yang reaching the second floor, and decided to check his Personal Chest for the rewards before going downstairs to see them both, he could see his clothes which were similar to the ones he was currently wearing but had a golden edging and weren’t covered in the nervous sweat that he didn’t realise he had been perspiring throughout the day. Dom opened his chest and his eyes opened wide at the rewards inside.
