World Conquest Online

Dom sat alone at the top table for the first time since the Kingdom Founding had happened. He thought through what Khaemweset had said, primarily that they were a Kingdom of their own on the World Conquest Online Map and were expanding outwards. Dom knew that technologically they were behind most of the other Kingdom’s in history that were already on the map, but they were vast and extremely adaptable. If intelligent people within the Kingdom such as Khaemweset came across more modern battle tactics, materials and construction methods, then Rameses II’s Egyptian Kingdom would become a very dangerous one for it’s neighbours.

Khaemweset also mentioned that Players were arriving in their Kingdom and that is how he found out information about his own History and Time period, which meant that his own connections to them would soon be found out. It also meant that if any of these Players brought some more modern technologies that they learnt themselves, then Rameses would have an even better chance of expanding as he had a much more solid base to begin with.

Dom thought back to some of the other Battle Maps he had been involved in and looked towards Zhang Zhao and Lu Su who were now coming towards him themselves, wondering if they had also arrived.

"A King shouldn’t be left alone at his own celebration." Lu Su stated with a welcoming smile as he stood nearby, Zhang Zhao beside him as they seemingly waited for his permission to sit or approach.

"Don’t act on ceremony with me, come and sit!" Dom replied, knowing that they were trying to show respect, but whilst he may have been made a King in the game, nothing else had changed about him. The two guests smiled as they sat beside Dom, as a servant approached and provided the two of them a drink each. They sipped them in welcome before they began speaking.

"Lord Sun Quan has sent his apologise, we have recently gone through some large upheaval and our Generals are currently outlining our borders, whilst Lord Sun Quan speaks with his other advisors on our next steps." Zhang Zhao explained as he looked towards Khaemweset for a moment, "It seems we aren’t the only ones with some recent upheaval."

"It seems that where ever you appear, chaos follows." Lu Su laughed, before continuing. "We are in a good place though, All of our lands have come with us, plus a few extras. We expect other forces may be in a similar situation to ourselves. We are surrounded by large lakes and the climate suits us."

"I am happy that you are safe, how has everyone else settled, do you think you are nearby?" Dom asked him, whilst he was happy to keep Rameses far away, the Sun family were good allies to have. Especially with how close the two were with family connections now.

"I do not know, we share the same sun and moons. Their positioning seems different, but I will look upon the stars tonight and contemplate the distance." Lu Su replied as he stroked his chin, whilst Zhang Zhao drank some more of his wine.

"Lord Sun Quan could not afford to send warriors at the moment, but he has sent some more River Warships, Weapons, Silks and Fabrics, Seeds and other goods that may be helpful to you." Zhang Zhao began, "Whilst it may not be as lavish in numbers as other gifts you may have received, it should support your growth now that a Kingdom has been formed."

"I am grateful and don’t feel like there are hidden traps within the gifts." Dom laughed, seeing that Lu Su and Zhang Zhao smiled in response, as if they had also seen a similar situation.

"I would like to spend tomorrow with your Navy if that is possible, to see how your ships perform if you have any spare. We have constructed several of our own and would like to compare." Lu Su explained, a question that surprised Dom.

"It wasn’t that long since we last saw you, how have you built them so fast? Of course I am happy for you to inspect some of our ships and travel to the Sea to watch them in action. We have some new ships that need to fit in to our fleet layout any way." Dom replied to him.

"Whilst it may not seem like long has past to you, for us it has been a while since the Battle at Jiangxia. The Battle against Cao Cao came as you expected, but I can’t tell you more than that for now." Zhang Zhao explained to him, seemingly in thought.

"Did you win?" Dom asked him, as both of them smiled at him.

"Zhou Yu told us we weren’t allowed to share for now." Lu Su replied coyly, before looking towards the crowd of people still enjoying themselves. "Let’s speak no more of it for now, you are a King and my Lord has asked that you provide him with many nieces and nephews for when he can eventually visit himself."

"Meritamen is already with child and that is scary enough, I think Sun Shangxiang enjoys fighting too much for that at the moment." Dom stated, but Lu Su laughed.

"She is a warrior, she always has been. She’ll create fine warriors if they are half the woman that she is." Lu Su replied, as Zhang Zhao nodded in agreement. Dom couldn’t disagree with that comment as he looked at her as she danced with Meritamen as Sun Ce, Gan Ning and Andrew continued to sing and dance in a corner.

Dom awoke in his bed in the Palace, his arm numb from the weight of Sun Shangxiang’s head that was lay across it. He felt squashed as Meritamen beside him rolled to get herself comfortable as some of the sunlight began to squeeze through the balcony window. The night had been a long one, and both wives had jokingly bickered about whoever went to bed with him would be the first queen and the other would be the second. In the end he had dragged them both upstairs, much to their disagreement.

After his conversation with both of his guests, Dom had a lot to think about, but Kai had interrupted him and made sure he enjoyed the evening himself. Dom didn’t remember much of the evening, but the celebrations in the Palace and across the City of Riverside itself had gone on long in to the night.

Sun Ce had been carried home by some guards, his wife shaking her head with a smile as they left, whilst Crassus had declared his love to Artemisia in an unexpected turn. Gan Ning was also escorted away by Liao Hua and Zhao Yun, as he had couldn’t be trusted to not go to the Gambling Hall and Tavern to continue the night.

The guests had been escorted to Villa’s that had been arranged for them in advance by Crassus amongst the Noble District, as the rest of those in the Palace had also slowly disappeared in to the night.

Dom tried moving his arm from under Sun Shangxiang’s head, but when he tried to move his body, the pressure pushed on Meritamen on the other side of him and she would then push back as if he was pushing her out of the bed, which he wasn’t as it was huge.

"Good Morning your Highnesses." A gentle voice said from the stairs as Dom struggled to see who it was. He recognised that the voice was Ban Jieyu’s, but he suddenly felt a little bit trapped between his two wives.

"Five more minutes." Sun Shangxiang mumbled in response, whilst Meritamen sat up instead, holding the blanket tight to herself as she noticed the situation they were in.

"Good Morning Lady Ban, I apologise that you have had to awaken us!" Meritamen replied politely. Meritamen had always held a high position in Riverside since her arrival and was now the Queen of the Lazarus Kingdom, but that wouldn’t change her, especially in front of Lady Ban who was once the Concubine of an Emperor.

"Both of the Ladies brothers are downstairs awaiting them. Prince Khaemweset intends to visit Hua Tou and then travel to the Red Woods to visit the Underground Ancient Kingdom, he asked if his sister would like to join him." Ban Jieyu began, almost as if reminding them that whilst the Kingdom had formed, their duties remained the same. "General Sun is downstairs with Lords Zhang Zhao and Lu Su, he recommended that Lady Sun join them on the Shimmering Sea whilst the Navy perform some morning exercises, as her mother and brothers have passed messages for her."

"Thank you Lady Ban, I will head down once I am dressed." Meritamen replied, whilst Sun Shangxiang rolled of Dom’s arm slightly whilst grumbling to herself.

"Your old Servants have arrived and are being incorporated in to the household, they have your outfit ready. Lady Sun’s guard have also done the same and are awaiting downstairs." She explained, before smiling at them mischievously, before disappearing back down the stairs. Meritamen looked at Dom and Sun Shangxiang, before frowning.

"This was a one off." She declared as she climbed out of the bed, holding the blanket close, whilst Sun Shangxiang on the other side tried to keep hold of it as she didn’t want to get out of bed. Dom sat between the two of them, catching glimpses of them both and not knowing what to do. Meritamen eventually just let go of the blanket, grumbled the word ’fine’ to herself and walked downstairs, with Dom watching her with his mouth wide open.

Dom was going to try and awake Sun Shangxiang, but noticed that her cheeks had gone red and she was also clearly embarrassed by the situation. He decided to climb out of the bed and put on his clothes that were waiting for him, as whilst Sun Shangxiang and Meritamen had their own plans for the morning, so did he.

Dom headed outside of the Palace, his face feeling the warm air immediately. Actumerus was waiting for him, the guard seemingly fine after his own celebrations the night before. The city had been cleaned in the hours that Dom slept, with the Banners still hung high but any mess that had been left behind having been swept away.

"Prime Minister Shang is awaiting you at the Heroes Hall with Lady Hatshepsut, whilst Head General Subutai is at the Hoplite Hall with the Senior Strategists to discuss an upcoming campaign." Actumerus explained, his voice sounding slightly more croaky than normal. Dom liked Actumerus, but part of him missed Gregorios and Trojan’s morning back and forth. The two now Centurions of their own units.

"Thanks Actumerus, let’s go and see Shang Yang first then, I know what he is waiting for." Dom replied, wanting to get everything sorted so he could help plan the campaign to defend Eruthros and more importantly discover who it was that was going to attack them.

They soon arrived in the Military District, where large groups of Warriors were training under the command of Huang Zhong and the Legionary Centurions that were acting as his sub commanders to retrain a large number of the Warriors in to Legionaries. Dom’s arrival was noticed and thousands of Warriors all saluted him in unison as he walked past, part of him embarrassed by their reaction.

"Good morning your highness." Hatshepsut teased as Dom entered the Heroes Hall, the sound almost weird coming from the voice of a former Pharoah that led the entirety of Egypt.

"You will get used to it." Shang Yang commented from the side, sat in a chair as he read from a parchment. "Lady Hatshepsut will use the Animal Husbandry cubes, whilst I expect you will want to do the Unique Building and Legendary Building yourself?"

"That would be the plan." Dom replied as he sat down beside Shang Yang, knowing that he needed to spawn the latest Hero shortly.

"Very well. I spoke with Xun Yu, Xun You and Subutai last night, we think it is best to pause on using the Golden Token’s for now. We need to concentrate on stabilising the Kingdom and our large increase in new Cities, Towns and Population, before potentially causing more disruption." Shang Yang stated, as Dom nodded in agreement with him, the Orange Agricultural Hero Cube in his hand and ready to use.
