Leon stood on a quiet balcony, looking down at the active camp below him. The world felt particularly tranquil at this moment, with the evening sun dyeing the world in its orange glow.

Even though he hadn’t gotten a wink of sleep since the previous day, Leon felt particularly relaxed at this moment.

’I’ve been avoiding this for too long,’ He thought. ’Star Stream, bring it on.’

With that, the holographic screen opened up before him.

[Evolution Requirements to Tier Two]

[1. Survive an encounter with a Tier Three creature and make it acknowledge you as a predator (0/1)]

[2. Gain the loyalty of a thousand willing Evolvers under your banner (122/1000)]

[3. Retrieve the Heart of a Dying World. Time Limit: 6 months]

[4. Remember a Fragment of Darkness. Progress: 0%]

Leon’s expression remained unchanged as he read the requirements. He had been expecting some absurd challenges, so these didn’t faze him. Instead, they baffled him.

’Heart of a Dying World? Another world, really? And I have a time limit?’

His expression darkened with confusion. The last requirement was the strangest and simplest. He only needed to remember something.

What he needed to remember, however, remained a mystery.

’What is a Fragment of Darkness?’

He didn’t know, and he suspected he wouldn’t find out anytime soon. Leon covered his face with his hands, suppressing another sigh.

’Looks like I’ll have to forget about reaching Tier Two for a long while.’

He lowered his hands and looked at the camp below. Things hadn’t truly ended yet. Sure, the world was in a terrible state, but it wasn’t dead yet.

Humanity was still surviving. They simply needed to survive better.

’Yeah, survive better. I’ll do that.’

He glanced westward, wishing his eyes could see miles into the distance.

"Clara, be patient and wait for big brother, okay?" He whispered, his tone unnaturally gentle.

His expression slowly turned serious, and he went back inside. Marine Park had been cleared of its greatest threats, meaning he had completed his goal for the week.

’In that case, time to work on equipment.’

He left the villa and headed to the warehouse where the wyvern’s corpse was being kept. At the same time, he sent someone to fetch Nicolas.

The military man arrived barely a minute later, and immediately greeted him.

"Good evening, Leader."

Leon gave him a polite nod, then went straight to the point. "I need you to go through our records and search for the best blacksmiths in the camp. Have all of them come over here."

Nicolas was quietly surprised and asked, "What do you need them for, Leader?"

Leon wasn’t offended by his question. He turned to look at the still-intact corpse of the wyvern that showed no signs of rotting.

"I’m merely interested in testing a theory. If it works out, we won’t have to rely entirely on the equipment we get from the Star Stream."

Nicolas’s eyes widened, and he understood Leon’s intentions. He also glanced at the dragon-like corpse, then hurried away.

"I’ll go get them now."

Leon waved him off and moved closer to the corpse. He walked around it, noticing that its strong defense hadn’t weakened at all, but its mana protection had disappeared.

’Soon... you’ll be put to use.’

Ten minutes later, Nicolas returned with twelve men and one burly woman who almost looked indistinguishable from the others.

Leon quietly assessed them. Four of them were evolvers ranging from Level 7 to Level 11. The others were normal humans but had enough knowledge and experience in blacksmithing to be considered experts.

Leon regarded each person seriously, then took them all to a newly-built facility that had been prepared for occasions like this. Leon felt gratitude towards Gwen for thinking ahead.

What he wanted to do was to have this group of blacksmiths practice forging with materials from mutated beasts. Although none of them had a clue on how to build an armor or forge a weapon, Leon was prepared for that.

He took one of the Tier One armors from his storage ring, and dismantled it with their help. Then, they all began to study the shape and structure of the equipment.

After five hours of drawing, discussing, arguing, and contemplating, they were finally able to get a blueprint.

"Alright, alright. Good work, everyone," Leon said with a smile, clapping to get their attention.

"We’re going to try crafting a suit of armor soon," He continued. "But before that, we should all fill our stomachs, shouldn’t we?"

Those words instantly got them excited and they began to cheer.

A middle-aged man with absurdly thick beard laughed and said, "Hahaha! Thank you, Leader! This old man was just starting to grow hungry."

"Same! We didn’t even know how much time had passed."

"Of course, it’s because this is our job and we have a passion for it!"

They were all from the Inner Ring, but were somewhat useless there. Although they had registered themselves as blacksmiths, there was no job for them to do. So, they only lived a little better than those in the Outer Ring.

Now that Leon had called them for work, though, they were all excited. All of them knew how the camp authorities valued work.

If they were able to impress Leon, then he would definitely treat them better.

Soon, a lavish meal that was usually reserved for those in the Core Ring was brought to them, and everyone began eating.

Leon didn’t care about status and sat with them, eating as they chatted with each other.

Once dinner was cleared away, Leon had them rest throughout the night, then woke them up as soon as he got up the next morning.

The blacksmiths immediately got to work, using the materials and the blueprint they had made. Leon ensured to provide them with everything they needed as they got to work, and he stood by and watched, hoping to learn a thing or two.

From morning untill noon, the smithery was filled with the noise from forging, and after so many failures, the only woman in the group managed to forge a complete set of armor.

Everyone immediately gathered around the armor to inspect it.
