World Evolution Apocalypse: I Possess The Extraction Ability

"I-I’m fine..." Fel said weakly, still shaken by the sudden turn of events.

Leon felt his heart grow hot with anger as he looked at her timid expression. However, he restrained himself and turned to Selene.

"Is she alright?"

Selene nodded. "It appears she was fed with some kind of strong sedative."

Leon felt a flicker of anger again, but it was washed away by relief. At least it wasn’t anything serious.

"Let’s get going."

Selene nodded and carried Gwen properly. Bliss strapped her battle-axe to her back and followed them.

Reymond also stood up and dusted his armor. His neck still hurt, but he wasn’t angry. All he felt was guilt. After all, he had taken a teammate as hostage—which wasn’t acceptable.

Without raising his head, he followed behind them. No one came to see them off, and despite the chaos, only a few patrol Evolvers appeared to take a look.

The guards at the main gate didn’t stop them or bother to search. Their Sienna vehicle was still parked outside, and thankfully, Bliss still had the keys. They got into the car and drove back towards the hideout of the Titanbreaker Legion.

They had barely reached half of the road when four Hilux vehicles caught up to them and surrounded them.

Bliss stopped the car and looked beside her. Leon was already opening the door and stepping outside.

The four Hilux vehicles also parked around them, blocking any possible escape route. From each vehicle, three Evolvers came out, with the last three being the three children of the mayor.

Leon didn’t seem surprised as he looked at them.

’That soldier isn’t here? So they sneaked out, I see.’

Ahmed stepped forward and smiled. "You think you could just leave that easily? Hand over the lady and I might consider sparing your life."

He stood with absolute confidence. After all, his side far outnumbered Leon’s team. Selene and Reymond came down from the vehicle too.

The young woman immediately set her eyes on Ahmed. "He’s mine. You can ravage the others."

Leon turned to her with a frown. "Why?"

She held his gaze for a while, then looked away. "Evolution requirements."

Leon’s expression softened, and his displeasure towards her vanished. "Alright."

Ahmed’s eyes narrowed in displeasure. "You still think you have a chance? You guys are really idiots."

He had barely spoken when Leon moved. He dashed towards one of the evolvers on his left, his hand was pulled back, poised like a blade.

The Evolver immediately went into defensive. However, the moment he locked eyes with Leon, he sealed his own fate.

His will to fight suddenly vanished, and he dropped his arms. By the time he regained his senses, Leon was already upon him.

Bam! Puchi!

Like a sharpened blade, Leon’s arm tore through his belly, reaching his spine. The young man spat out blood, his eyes wide with shock.

He hadn’t even been able to use his ability.

Leon pulled out his bloodstained hand and dropped the dead guy to the ground. He turned to the others, his expression frighteningly calm.

Ahmed stared in shock, but quickly turned his attention back to Selene. Seeing her rush towards him, he snorted and unsheathed his sword.

"Lion’s cub? I’ll tame you right here, and even in bed!"

He raised his sword and attacked. Suddenly, he felt weightless and stumbled. To his horror, his sword arm was gone, severed cleanly.

He turned to the dazzling woman standing right before him, his expression twisting into panic, fear, and pain.

"Ah—!"

The scream never left his throat. Selene beheaded him without effort, then looked at his two sisters. Aliyah and Aisha stepped back, realizing they had made a mistake.

Their brother lay on the ground, beheaded and bleeding from the stump of his neck. It was too fast for them to process.

Didn’t they have the advantage with twelve Evolvers? Why had the situation changed so rapidly?

Selene didn’t give them time to think too much or mourn. She smoothly beheaded the two, then watched as their corpses crumpled to her feet.

A faint, almost imperceptible smile appeared on her face. It disappeared immediately, and she turned at the sound of Leon’s voice.

"That was fast."

She sized him up, her gaze lingering on his bloodied arms. He hadn’t killed with weapons, but with his hands instead.

Was that much more satisfying? She felt curious.

Leon’s expression was relaxed, and he looked at his own hands. "The blood looks a little ugly. I should wash it off."

Elsewhere, a young lady barely in her twenties with long black hair and sharp red eyes stepped out of an abandoned university. The buildings had already been overtaken by mutated plants, transforming the campus into something resembling a forest.

Several strong mutated beasts dwelled in the forest, their roars and cries always echoing day and night.

Now however, the entire forest was eerily silent. Not even the plants rustled their leaves.

Most of the mutated beasts had been slaughtered by the young woman, while the others had gone into hiding, hoping to escape the crazy reaper.

The young lady sighed and wiped the sweat from her forehead.

"So he already left, huh."

She glanced back at the gates behind her which bore the words ’CLIFFORD UNIVERSITY.’

With a groan of annoyance, she turned away and headed down the streets. "Where the hell are you now, big brother?"

A while later, Leon and the others finally returned to the hideout where the Titanbreaker Legion and Miguel had been staying.

"Boss!"

The blonde guy grinned and immediately came forward to hug Leon. He didn’t resist, hugging him back for a few seconds before he let go.

"That’s enough." Leon pushed him away, then turned to his army.

His voice sounded light. "Have you been well?"

"YES, COMMANDER!"

Their response was as enthusiastic as ever, which brought a smile to his face.

"Good. We’re heading back to Bayonne immediately."

The buses were immediately started, and everyone began entering. Selene carried Gwen inside one of the buses with her, while Leon and Fel entered another. Reymond stayed alone in a different bus, while Miguel finally had the chance to be with Bliss again on a ride.

There wasn’t much preparation to make. Once everyone was ready, the buses drove out of the compound.
