The next morning, Leon spoke with Gwen shortly before leaving the camp. He didn’t notify anyone else, as he didn’t want a solemn farewell.
After all, it wasn’t like he was dying or something.
He ventured far away from the camp, almost reaching the bridge connecting to Staten Island. From where he stood, he could already see the island in the distance. He couldn’t see the fleshy abomination, though. It was probably still hidden at the center of the island.
Shaking his head, he turned to Thyra. "Will you be going back to your constellation or something?"
She nodded with a wry smile on her face. "Since you’re abandoning me, I have no choice. Gwen can’t activate her perception skill all the time and I’m already done exploring your world. I’ll simply go visit my colleagues to pass time."
Leon’s lips twitched. "I’m not abandoning you, alright? I’m just going on a solo mission. By the way, how are you interacting with the other... Demon Generals? Can they see you too?"
"Yes," She nodded. "Entities of our level can easily perceive souls, so it’s not a problem at all. Though, I’m still a ghost to them since they can’t touch me. That makes Gwen special, at least."
Leon smiled and turned around. "Well, I’ll be back in a jiffy. I just need to take something I don’t know, and bring it back. Easy peasy."
Thyra’s smile dimmed as she stared at his lonesome back.
"Leon, be careful."
"Mn," He nodded without turning back.
As if sensing his intentions, the Star Stream opened up a spatial crack right before him. The edge was rough like shattered glass, and the other side was pitch black.
Leon’s eyes widened slightly, but he wasn’t deterred. Steeling his heart, he took a step forward and entered.
Thyra watched him go, her hands involuntarily reaching towards him. However, she stopped herself.
’You can’t always assist him if you want him to grow,’ She told herself. ’I trust you, Leon. Come back alive.’
The crack was already closing as the infant will of Earth tried to correct the disturbance. Despite being only a Tier One world, it was surprisingly fast.
Thyra watched as the crack reduced. However, her attention was pulled away from it as she suddenly looked behind her.
Selene was standing there with a serious expression. She hadn’t seen Leon enter, but knew the crack was likely related to him.
For a moment, she hesitated. Should she enter or not? She had been planning to follow him, knowing he would be going somewhere dangerous.
She also needed to kill stronger creatures to complete her last evolution requirement. However, she didn’t think he’d be going this far.
’This crack either leads to somewhere else on Earth or another world entirely. Is it worth risking?’
Her answer came in the form of a step forward.
Thyra watched the crack close behind her. Before she could say anything, Cassie appeared, panting. She looked around in confusion, seeing no sign of anyone.
Where was Leon? She had planned to track him and follow him. However, she didn’t think he’d escape her detection and leave early. Only when Selene left the camp too did she notice something was wrong.
Sadly, she had been too late to know where they went.
Thyra stared at her with a dark expression. "What’s it with these women? Gwen is already enough trouble, but you want to add yourselves to the mix?"
She clicked her tongue and turned away. "Once I have my body back, I’m going to make you understand that he’s been claimed."
Leaving behind a confused Cassie, she stepped through space and appeared outside the planet.
She cast one last glance at the blue planet behind her, then looked at the other planets.
’Really... why would Earth be surrounded by dead worlds? This is something strange.’
She shook her head and took another step forward, crossing several million light-years in an instant.
Before long, she appeared in another galaxy. Glowing red asteroids were scattered in space, orbiting around a planet that was several times larger than Earth.
Thyra’s expression turned cold and indifferent—eerily similar to Selene. Taking another step, she entered the world.
It was densely populated with different races that were affiliated to the Demon Constellation. Standing in the sky, she observed the city below her.
Thousands of demons ranging from Tier Four to Tier Six moved around, but none could sense or see her. Only a handful could sense her.
"Oh, you finally decided to visit us after so long?"
Hearing the lively, childish voice, Thyra’s expression softened slightly, and she turned around.
Standing behind her was a seemingly young girl with bright red hair and a pair of sharp red eyes. From her forehead curved two white horns, curling toward the back of her head.
Thyra bent her back slightly. "Lady Asmodeus."
The little girl grinned and waved at her. "Hey, drop the formality. How’re you doing? It’s been a few... days?... months?... I think."
Thyra straightened and nodded. "About a month, yes."
"Ah, time flies so fast," Asmodeus said with a wistful smile.
Thyra raised an eyebrow. "Isn’t it just a month? You make it sound like a big deal."
Putting her hands on her hips, Asmodeus shook her head. "No~no, Thyra. What did I teach you? Even if you’re a million years old, you should learn to value time. Don’t be like our irresponsible leader, alright?"
Thyra’s lips twitched, and she nodded.
Sizing her up again, Asmodeus suddenly smiled. "Looks like you’ve gotten used to that human form you’re wearing."
Thyra blinked and touched her head. Her horns weren’t there.
’Ah...’
With a single thought, she dropped her human disguise. Calling it a disguise was a little far-fetched, though.
She didn’t really change looks. The only differences were the two white horns that curved from under her hair, ending in sharp points beside her head, and a pair of pitch black wings that sprouted from her waist.
Seeing this, Asmodeus grinned. "Now this looks absolutely stunning! Not even the Elf Monarch can compare to you."
Thyra showed no reaction to the praise. Inwardly, though, she quietly wondered.
’Would Leon prefer me in this form?’
