World Evolution: Starting With The Wind Monarch

Chapter 27: Against A Rank One Evolver (Part 3)

Feeling the powerful aura emanating from Evan, Mike was shocked to his core as it was the first time he had ever felt such a powerful aura from a Level 20 Unranked Evolver.

He glanced at Anna and William, who had already run far away but didn’t try to chase after them again.

He could instinctively feel that if he tried to pursue them while ignoring Evan, he would definitely suffer a terrible fate.

Evan noticed that Mike’s entire attention was now focused on him, and his eyes narrowed slightly.

After reaching Level 25, an Evolver would receive an opportunity to choose their Job Class.

The Job Class a person could choose differed from person to person and depended on their journey and achievements before reaching Level 25.

After choosing a Job Class, an Evolver would have to complete a set of requirements to become a Rank One Evolver and obtain their desired Job Class.

Without completing those requirements, they would remain stuck at Level 25, unable to obtain their Job Class or increase their level any further.

The requirements they needed to complete depended on the type of Job Class they had chosen.

The more powerful the Job Class, the more difficult its requirements would be.

Job Classes were divided into four grades according to their overall power: Common, Uncommon, Special, and Unique.

Most people received Common-grade Job Classes. Those who performed exceptionally well during their journey before reaching Level 25 could receive Uncommon-grade Job Classes.

Special and Unique Job Classes were extremely rare, and only a handful of people received the opportunity to choose one of them.

Mike was already a Rank One Evolver, which meant he had obtained his first Job Class.

His Job Class was Combat Master, a Common-grade Job Class.

Because of his Job Class, he received a 20% boost to his Strength and Agility during close-quarters combat. It also gave him a strong foundation in close-range fighting, allowing him to utilize his physical abilities much more effectively than an ordinary Evolver.

Earlier, it was because of his Job Class that Mike believed he could break through Evan’s Wind Barrier if he managed to get close enough.

’This kid’s primary stat should be Magic, considering how powerful that Wind Barrier and Wind Bullet were...’ Mike thought inwardly, and a cold light flickered in his eyes.

’If I close the distance between us, it shouldn’t be difficult to take him out.’

Thinking this, Mike gritted his teeth and immediately dashed toward Evan.

As he moved, he prepared himself to evade the Wind Bullets that he couldn’t block and neutralize the others with his Ice Bullets.

After seeing the power of Evan’s Wind Bullet earlier, he was certain that Evan would try to stop him with it so that he couldn’t get close.

But to Mike’s surprise, Evan didn’t use his skill against him.

Instead, he took a step forward and also charged toward him at full speed.

With Wind Aura enveloping his body, Evan was even slightly faster than Mike.

’He’s actually coming toward me?’

Seeing Evan charging directly toward him, Mike looked at him as if he were an idiot before a sinister smile appeared on his face.

He immediately pushed his Agility to its limit.

The distance between them rapidly disappeared, and within a few seconds, they reached each other’s attack range.

Their eyes met for a brief moment before both of them simultaneously threw a punch.

Mike smiled confidently as his fist shot toward Evan.

However, the instant their fists collided—

BOOM!

A powerful shockwave erupted outward in a ring, tearing apart the ground within a three-meter radius around them. Small pebbles were blasted into the air and shot in every direction like bullets.

The smile disappeared from Mike’s face, and his eyes widened in disbelief.

He had expected Evan’s hand to snap like a twig the instant their fists collided.

But reality turned out to be completely different.

The instant their fists collided, Mike felt a tremendous force coming from Evan’s seemingly small fist.

Thud! Thud! Thud! - - -

Mike was forced to take five steps backward.

Evan, on the other hand, didn’t take even a single step back.

"Impossible!" Mike shouted in disbelief, unable to believe what had just happened.

’How can his Strength be so high? It doesn’t make any sense...’

He screamed inwardly, feeling as if he were trapped in a dream.

The Combat Master Job Class provided Mike with a significant boost to his physical abilities during close combat, so he couldn’t understand what was happening.

Moreover, he had always assumed that Evan’s primary stat was Magic so he had never expected Evan to possess such terrifying Strength.

In fact, there was a reason Evan was capable of fighting him at close range.

If Evan had fought Mike before evolving his Hardening Skill into Steel Body, he would have had a much harder time.

But after evolving Steel Body, Evan’s Strength had increased tremendously.

Not only that, Steel Body had also greatly increased his physical defense, making it much easier for him to exchange blows with Mike at close range.

On top of that, he was currently using Wind Aura to further enhance his physical attacks.

His Slayer title was also providing him with an additional 10% damage because of the difference in their levels.

With all these abilities combined, Evan was able to fight Mike at close range despite the enormous difference between their levels.

After the first clash, Evan ignored Mike’s shocked expression and immediately sent a kick toward his head.

Mike was still shocked by what had just happened, but his combat experience allowed him to react in time.

He tilted his head to the side and narrowly evaded Evan’s kick.

Taking advantage of the opening, he immediately threw a punch toward Evan’s face.

Evan had just missed his kick and hadn’t completely regained his balance, giving Mike the perfect opportunity to counterattack.

Mike’s fist tore through the air, causing the surrounding air to violently swirl around it as it approached Evan’s face.

However, just as the fist was about to strike him—

Woosh!

A Wind Barrier appeared directly in front of Mike’s fist.

BANG!

Mike’s fist smashed into the barrier, shattering it instantly.

However, that brief delay was enough to give Evan an opportunity to tilt his head to the side, barely avoiding the punch.

Mike was taken aback by the sudden appearance of the Wind Barrier, and his eyes widened.

’Just how strong is his control over mana for him to be able to use his skill in such a short time?’

Evan obviously didn’t care about Mike’s shock.

The ring on his finger flashed, and Black Star appeared in his hand.

Without giving Mike any time to react, Evan swung the sword horizontally toward him.

Mike’s pupils contracted to the size of needles when he saw the sword appear as he had never expected Evan to possess a Storage Ring.

Since Evan had been empty-handed earlier, Mike had assumed that he didn’t have a weapon with him.

Mike hurriedly tried to move backward to avoid the sword. But he was still a fraction too slow.

Swish!

The blade flashed past his body and grazed across his shoulder.

RIP!

"Arghh!"

Blood sprayed into the air as a deep wound appeared on Mike’s shoulder, making him scream in pain.

But before his scream could even end, Evan suddenly appeared directly in front of him, using his terrifying Agility to deliver a punch to his stomach.

BANG!

All the air was forced out of Mike’s lungs from the single punch and he staggered backward, saliva and blood dripping from his wide-open mouth.

Evan didn’t attack immediately after injuring Mike.

Instead, he simply stood there and stared at him for several seconds.

Then, he finally opened his mouth and spoke in a low, emotionless voice.

"You are too weak."

When Mike heard Evan’s words, he coughed even more violently and nearly fainted from anger.
