World Evolution: Starting With The Wind Monarch
Chapter 42: Skeleton Graveyard--) Basic Sword Art (Unranked Passive Skill) Level 5: After learning this skill, you will become a master of Basic Sword Art.
Evan read the details of the skill and was disappointed to find out that it wasn’t the skill used by the Silver Bear.
Though disappointed, he didn’t think too much about it, as he had already expected something like this. After all, the skill dropped after killing a creature was always random.
"Basic Sword Art..." Evan muttered.
He didn’t know what kind of Basic Sword Art he would master after learning this skill because there was no further information in the skill description.
However, from the name of the skill, he didn’t think it would be anything great. After all, it was clearly described as Basic Sword Art, and Evan had been practicing with a sword since he was six years old, so he thought his swordsmanship should already be better than some basic sword technique.
’Well, it’s a passive skill, so I won’t lose anything by learning it. Moreover, I’ll need every bit of help I can get when I enter the dungeon since I can’t use mana there. Maybe this skill will teach me something that can improve my swordsmanship without relying on mana.’
Thinking this, Evan crushed the skill scroll in his hand.
The scroll instantly turned into countless silver fragments that entered his body.
The moment the silver fragments merged with his body, a massive amount of information about swordsmanship appeared in his mind.
Evan immediately closed his eyes and focused completely on understanding the information he had received.
A few moments later, Evan suddenly stood up.
He took out the Black Star and began performing a series of strange movements.
His sword moved in ways that seemed completely different from the sword techniques he had practiced before.
His movements were simple yet incredibly precise, and the Black Star moved so fast that it seemed capable of cutting apart anything that appeared in front of it.
Evan continued practicing for nearly thirty minutes before finally stopping.
He took a deep breath, and a look of shock couldn’t help but appear on his face.
"How the hell is this just Basic Sword Art? It’s a hundred times better than the sword techniques I was using before."
As he looked at the Black Star in his hand, Evan suddenly remembered something his grandfather had told him when he had first started training with a sword.
’You can’t properly use a sword or any other weapon. Just remember that you don’t have any talent for using weapons. Although you’ll eventually be able to use a sword and other weapons well enough to protect yourself, you’ll never be able to understand the true essence of how to properly wield a weapon.’
At first, Evan hadn’t believed him.
But now, after learning this skill and experiencing the difference for himself, he finally understood that his grandfather had been telling the truth.
The sword technique he had been using until now couldn’t even be called swordsmanship.
He had simply been swinging the sword around while relying on his tremendous physical strength and speed.
There had been almost no real technique behind his attacks.
But after learning Basic Sword Art, everything had changed.
For the first time, Evan could truly feel the sword in his hand.
He could understand its movements, control its trajectory, and use every part of his body to make his attacks more precise and efficient.
’And this is only an Unranked Skill.’
Evan looked at the level of the skill, and his eyes couldn’t help but shine.
’I can’t even imagine what this skill will become after it evolves.’
A delighted smile appeared on his face.
"I got this skill at the perfect time. With it, I’ll be able to kill monsters and magical beasts much more easily without using mana inside the Skeleton Graveyard."
After learning the skill, Evan continued practicing.
The more he practiced, the more familiar he became with Basic Sword Art.
And the more he understood it, the more he realized just how profound this seemingly simple sword technique actually was.
After practicing for another hour, Evan finally sat down and closed his eyes to rest.
He only had three hours left before entering the dungeon.
Evan rested for two hours before checking his Storage Ring to make sure he had enough food, water, and potions.
After confirming that he had sufficient supplies, he took out some food and ate.
He then waited patiently.
When there was only one minute left on the timer, Evan opened his Status Window and looked at the option in front of him.
He took a deep breath before pressing Yes.
The moment Evan pressed it, he felt the mana in the surrounding area begin gathering around him.
A brilliant silver light enveloped his body, and in the next moment, he disappeared from where he had been standing.
When Evan opened his eyes again, he found himself traveling through a strange black space.
There was nothing around him.
No light.
No sound.
No sense of direction.
Evan couldn’t tell how much time had passed since he entered this place.
It could have been one second.
It could have been a year.
He simply couldn’t perceive the passage of time.
His head gradually began spinning, and his vision became increasingly blurry.
Just as he felt that he was about to lose consciousness, his body suddenly collided with something hard.
Bang!
Evan’s body hit the ground.
He slowly opened his eyes and looked around with dizzy eyes, finding himself lying inside a dark hallway.
There was very little light, and because of the dizziness caused by the teleportation, he couldn’t see his surroundings properly.
Suddenly, Evan felt an urge to vomit.
He quickly covered his mouth and somehow managed to suppress it.
After nearly five minutes, the dizziness finally began to fade, and Evan was able to stand properly.
"I have read that you will feel strange after being teleported into a dungeon, but I never expected it to be this bad."
Evan took a few deep breaths and waited until he had completely regained his senses.
Only then did he properly examine his surroundings.
He was standing inside a long, dark hallway.
Very little light illuminated the area, and Evan soon noticed that the light was coming from strange crystals embedded in the walls.
Suddenly, several notifications appeared in front of him.
[You have entered the Rank One Dungeon: Skeleton Graveyard.]
[To conquer this dungeon, you must reach the fifth floor and defeat the Boss Monster.]
[You are currently on the first floor.]
[To begin exploring the dungeon, say: "Begin Exploration."]
Evan wasn’t surprised by the notifications.
He had already read about how dungeons worked from the books he had studied, so he knew what to expect.
He tightened his grip around the Black Star and took a deep breath.
"No matter what happens, I have to avoid using mana."
After reminding himself of his goal, Evan’s eyes became serious, and he muttered in a low voice,
"Begin Exploration."
The moment his voice echoed through the hallway, the entire dungeon suddenly began to shake.
Rumble!
The ground trembled violently, and countless tombstones suddenly emerged from the ground, filling the previously empty hallway.
Although there was very little light inside the hall, Evan could see everything clearly thanks to his Night Vision passive skill.
Crack! Crack! Crack! - - - -
The tombstones that had appeared in the hallway suddenly began to crack, and the next second, skeletons began crawling out from beneath them.
Evan stood motionless and watched as more and more skeletons emerged from the tombstones.
Within moments, the entire hallway was filled with undead creatures.
There were at least twenty-five skeletons, and every single one of them was at least Level 23.
Evan tightened his grip around the Black Star, and a cold gleam flashed in his eyes.
"Good thing I’m not afraid of undead creatures, or I might have fainted from fear just by looking at this eerie scene."
