Yandere Monster Evolution: My Blind Wife Will Become a Demonic Queen
Chapter 129: Apocalypse #1Down in the beautiful, golden plaza, the elegant nobles in their silk robes and the high-ranking knights in their shining silver armor didn’t even have a chance to draw their weapons.
The elegant music of the orchestra didn’t just fade; it was violently cut short as a stray projectile smashed directly through the grand harp, splintering the polished wood into a million pieces. The cheerful laughter of the nobles died in their throats, replaced by the sickening thud of steel piercing flesh and the horrific sounds of bodies collapsing onto the ground.
The first wave of arrows struck the courtyard like a meteor shower.
CRACK! BOOM! CRACK!
"Ahhhh! My leg!"
"Help me! The guards—where are the guards?!"
"Run! Get to the inner sanctum!"
The peaceful, cheerful festival instantly transformed into a literal slaughterhouse. A young noblewoman dressed in a beautiful white gown was pinned directly to a marble pillar by three massive arrows, her blood spraying across the pristine tapestries.
Beside her, a knight tried to raise his shield, but the sheer physical velocity of the projectile shattered the silver metal entirely, driving the splinters straight through his chest.
"Get down!" I roared, my voice cracking as I lunged toward Vera.
I didn’t think. I didn’t calculate. I just grabbed her by the waist and pulled her flat onto the marble floor of the dining hall just as a stray black arrow shattered the massive glass right above our heads.
CRASH!
A torrential rain of sharp glass shards showered over us. I curled my body over Vera, shielding her head with my arms as the wind of the plaza rushed into the cold room, carrying the thick, unmistakable scent of fresh blood and burning mana.
"Brian!" Vera gasped against my chest, her fingers clutching the fabric of my shirt with a strength that almost bruised my ribs. She didn’t sound terrified—she sounded angry, her sightless eyes wide as she tracked the sudden chaos vibrating through the air. "Are you alright?"
"I know!" I grunted, slowly raising my head. "Just stay low!"
Around the dining hall, the entire illusion of the peaceful empire was shattered in the span of a single breath.
"Ahhhh!" Hana screamed, her hands flying to her head as she scrambled backward under the massive wooden table. Her magical staff lay forgotten on the floor, its blue orb flickering weakly as she curled into a trembling ball. "They’re dying! They’re all dying out there!"
"Damn it!" Jisu cursed. Her red ring flared with a desperate, erratic aura, her hand instantly transforming into the heavy gauntlet. She threw herself against a golden pillar, her chest heaving violently as she peered out of the broken window. "Where is this coming from?!"
Grog was already on his feet, his massive broadsword held in a defensive stance, but his hands were shaking. The sheer speed of the transition from a luxurious feast to an absolute war zone had completely short-circuited his veteran hunter instincts.
At the head of the table, King Val didn’t panic.
The gentle, smiling father who had just been teasing us about romance vanished. In his place stood the absolute sovereign of the Crimson Lineage.
His golden eyes flared with a blinding, majestic light, and the crimson cloak behind him billowed violently as a massive, oppressive aura exploded from his body, creating an invisible shield that deflected the stray arrows tearing into the room.
"Elves," Val rumbled, his voice carrying a dense, physical weight that made the marble floor vibrate. "The Grand Elder’s coup..."
"Val!" the Queen cried out, her face completely pale as she held Carmilla’s younger cousins close to her chest. Her brother stood in front of them, his hand gripping a decorative rapier. "The barrier... why didn’t the royal barrier activate?!"
"Because someone inside opened the hearth," Val replied, his tone chillingly calm.
Thud! Thud!
Two arrows drove themselves straight into the long table just inches from Hana’s plate. Seok’s voice boomed from the floor as he lunged forward, his blue spear flashing with a brilliant light.
Clang!
With a single, lightning-fast sweep of his weapon, Seok deflected the arrows, sending them sparking against the golden pillars. His eyes were wide behind his mask, his muscles entirely tense. "Brian, the mana signatures outside—they aren’t just archers! There are high-ranking entities approaching from the clouds!"
"He’s right," Jisu gasped, her rings flickering violently with a yellow aura. "The pressure... it feels like the air is turning into lead. I can barely breathe!"
"Tsk. Annoying," a deep, completely calm voice muttered from the rear.
Black slowly stood up from his spot near the golden pillar. His dark gray coat was covered in glass dust, but his posture was entirely rigid. He didn’t look at the sky, and he didn’t look at the fire. His dark mask was turned toward the palace doors.
"Hey, grocery-bag," Black called out, his gaze tilting slightly toward me. "If we stay here, we’re going to get buried under a mountain of scale-flesh. What’s the plan?"
"We don’t fight," I shot back, my voice cold and absolute as I looked at my party. "I told you. We are variables. If we step onto that battlefield, the timeline will collapse, and we will dissolve into nothingness."
Before Hana could even stammer a reply, a shadow fell over the entire city.
It wasn’t a cloud. It was too fast, too massive, and too alive.
ROOOOOOOOAR!
A deafening, primal shriek echoed from the high heavens, a sound so ancient and powerful that it literally shattered the remaining glass panes across the entire palace. The vibration was so intense that my ears began to bleed, a warm trickle of red running down the side of my neck beneath my paper mask.
I looked up through the shattered ceiling.
Drifting out of the high clouds were massive, reptilian silhouettes. Their scales were the color of polished obsidian, catching the sunlight as their wings—each easily spanning fifty meters—snapped back to slow their descent.
"Dragons..." Grog whispered, his broadsword slipping an inch. "Real... actual Dragons. We can’t fight those things!"
The colossal beasts opened their jaws, and a bright, suffocating orange glow flared deep within their throats. A split second later, a torrent of liquid fire poured from the sky, washing over the central avenue of the city.
BOOM!
The heat was instantaneous and absolute. Even from inside the dining room, the temperature spiked so high that my skin felt like it was bubbling. The beautiful, clear river of water didn’t just steam—it vaporized in an instant, the sudden thermal expansion blowing the stone banks apart.
"No... No!" Carmilla’s mother screamed, covering her cousins’ eyes as the horrific scene played out right in front of them..
"We have to go," I muttered, my heart hammering against my ribs like a trapped bird. I grabbed Vera’s hand and pulled her up. "Adrian! Agis! We need to find the exit of this Gate now!"
BANG!
The massive, gilded double doors of the dining hall were blown open. Through the smoke, a line of warriors stepped into the room.
They were breathtakingly beautiful—tall, elegant, with long, silver hair that fell perfectly over their shoulders, and pointed ears that peeked through their light, green-and-gold armor. Their eyes were a cold, emotionless blue, and they held long, curved bows already notched with those same black-feathered arrows.
"Elves...?" Hana whimpered from beneath the table.
The lead Elf didn’t say a word. He simply raised his hand, and the ten archers behind him drew their strings to the absolute limit, the tips of their arrows glowing with a dense, green wind mana.
"Kill the royal bloodline," the lead Elf commanded. "Leave no variables."
"Like hell you will!" Grog roared, his survival instinct finally tipping over into pure, desperate rage. He lunged forward, his broadsword humming with a heavy, brown earthy aura as he swung it horizontally to create a defensive barrier.
But the Elves were too fast.
SWISH!
Three arrows released simultaneously, traveling with such speed that they bypassed Grog’s heavy blade entirely. One arrow pierced his shoulder, the wind mana exploding inside the wound and blowing a massive chunk of flesh out of his back. Grog let out a strangled cry, collapsing onto his knees as blood sprayed across the polished marble.
"Grog!" Jisu screamed. She rushed forward, her heavy gauntlet expanding as she threw a desperate punch toward the lead Elf.
The Elf didn’t even dodge. He simply shifted his weight, his slender hand moving like a blur as he caught Jisu’s heavy wrist, redirecting her momentum and driving his knee straight into her abdomen.
CRACK!
Jisu’s eyes went wide, a large spurt of blood erupting from her lips as she was thrown backward, crashing heavily against the dining table.
"They’re too strong..." Hana sobbed.
My teeth ground together so hard I could taste blood of my own lips.
’This is a massacre. If we fight, we change the timeline. But if we don’t fight, we die here!’
"Vera, stay behind me," I whispered, reaching for my dagger.
But Vera didn’t move. She stood beside me, her head tilted slightly upward, her sightless eyes fixed on the ceiling. "Woo Jin... the King."
I snapped my head toward King Val.
The Vampire King hadn’t drawn a sword yet. He simply stood in front of his weeping wife and terrified children, his golden eyes glowing with an ancient, absolute majesty.
"You dare bring your filthy bows into my home," Val whispered, his voice dropping into a register that was so low it made my teeth ache.
