Chapter 797: Chapter 797: Exposed

In that way, Angel would finally have the opportunity she had been waiting for all this time.

Danielle eventually returned home, and sure enough, she saw Asher standing outside her apartment. The sight made her clench her fists.

Two sides of her mind immediately began fighting against each other. ’There is definitely something suspicious about the letters I received.’

But another voice inside her mind argued back. ’What if this is simply Asher’s way of dealing with everything?’

The more Danielle thought about it, the more confused she became. Her thoughts tangled together until she could barely distinguish suspicion from doubt.

Even so, she slowly walked toward Asher.

Asher noticed her immediately and quickly stepped forward to stop her.

"Did you receive today’s gift?"

Danielle paused.

"What are you talking about?"

She reached into her bag and pulled out the photographs she had received, holding them out toward him.

"Are you talking about these?"

The moment Asher saw the intimate photographs of Danielle with another man, his expression changed completely.

"What?"

His voice carried genuine shock.

Danielle carefully studied his face. There was no sign of pretense in his eyes, and the confusion in his expression appeared completely sincere.

A quiet sigh of relief escaped her lips.

’So it really was Angel who was manipulating everything.’

A faint chuckle escaped Danielle as she looked at him.

"Well, there are a few more interesting things that you might want to see."

She handed him the letters she had received along with the flowers and chocolates.

Asher took them and began reading.

The longer he read, the darker his expression became.

By the time he finished, the anger in his eyes was impossible to hide.

"I am going to confront her right now."

However, Danielle immediately stopped him.

"Is there even any use in doing that?"

Asher looked at her.

Danielle’s lips curved into a faint smirk.

"I have a better plan."

The following morning, Angel looked toward Danielle and immediately noticed that her eyes were slightly red.

She quietly breathed a sigh of relief. ’It looks like my plan worked.’

Still, she wanted to make absolutely certain. Angel glanced toward Aqua.

Aqua immediately understood the signal.

She walked toward Danielle and slammed her palm firmly against Danielle’s desk, causing the sound to echo through the office.

Danielle slowly raised her head. Aqua looked at her with a smug smile.

"What happened? Were you rejected by Asher again?"

Danielle merely stared at her for a moment before lowering her gaze. She said nothing.

Aqua’s smile widened.

"Oh, it looks like you are about to cry now that someone has taken away your opportunity to become a homewrecker."

She leaned closer, her voice dripping with mockery.

"Honestly, Danielle, if you have even an ounce of self-awareness, you should back out now."

Danielle remained silent.

Seeing that she was not receiving a response, Aqua straightened up and walked away with a satisfied smirk.

The other office workers, including the people from the military office nearby, looked at Danielle strangely. From Aqua’s perspective, she believed she was standing up for everyone and delivering justice on their behalf.

However, from everyone else’s perspective, she looked less like a defender and more like a villain deliberately humiliating someone who was already struggling.

Aqua paid no attention to their expressions. She returned to Angel’s side and sat beside her.

"It looks like she has finally stopped."

Angel smiled warmly at her. "Thank you so much, Aqua. You are the only one who truly understands me."

With that, Angel hugged Aqua tightly.

Aqua smiled and returned the gesture, but her thoughts were entirely different.

She was already calculating the benefits she could obtain by staying close to Angel.

She was not genuinely interested in the romance between two aristocrats.

All she cared about was what she could gain from it.

The moment Angel had revealed her connection to Asher, Aqua had become excited.

She had immediately begun acting like a villain because she believed that as long as she remained useful to Angel, she would eventually secure a place beside Asher as well.

’Once I become useful enough to Angel, I will definitely receive something in return.’

The two women continued smiling at each other while calculating their own benefits in silence.

Neither of them realized that the other was doing exactly the same thing.

Finally, lunchtime arrived. Another delivery appeared.

The same delivery man from the previous day calmly walked into the office, carrying a familiar-looking box.

He stopped in front of Angel. "Are you Angel?"

Angel hesitated before nodding. "Yes."

The delivery man held out the box.

"This is a gift that Mr. Asher asked us to deliver to you."

Angel froze. For a moment, a strange chill passed through her body.

Her heart immediately began pounding.

’Why would Asher send something to me?’

A terrible premonition settled heavily in her chest.

Something was wrong.

The delivery man was behaving differently from before, and the fact that he had specifically announced Asher’s name in front of everyone made Angel even more uneasy.

’Does Asher know that I switched the letters?’

Otherwise, why would the delivery be handled like this?

Aqua, however, had a completely different interpretation.

She assumed that Angel’s efforts had finally been noticed by Asher.

’Perhaps Asher finally realized how much Angel has suffered because of those people.’

Or perhaps he had learned that his girlfriend was being bullied and had decided to publicly give Angel a gift so everyone would understand that she was under his protection.

Aqua became excited at the thought.

She grabbed Angel’s hand and shook it enthusiastically.

"See? Your efforts have finally been recognised! Now that Asher has publicly announced this, let us see if anyone dares to bully you again."

Angel quickly shook her head.

"Let us not talk about it."

She looked toward the delivery man and forced herself to remain calm.

"Give me the gift box. I will take it home."

However, the delivery man shook his head.

"No. Let me open it first and read everything aloud because that is what Mr. Asher specifically instructed me to do."

Angel’s expression instantly stiffened. Before she could stop him, the delivery man opened the box.

He reached inside and pulled out a dozen thick files.

The moment everyone saw them, the atmosphere in the entire office changed.

The cheerful whispers immediately disappeared.

Several people exchanged confused glances as they stared at the stack of documents.

Angel’s face slowly lost its color. Aqua’s smile also faded.

Someone standing nearby finally whispered what everyone else was thinking.

"This does not really look like a confession."

The next second, the delivery man opened the first file and began reading the letter aloud.

"Angel, I had thought that after I humiliated you during our high school years, you would take the hint and stop interfering with my relationships with other girls. However, it seems that you have not changed at all. In fact, you have become even bolder and have gone as far as spreading rumors about other people inside an army office."

The delivery man’s voice remained calm as the entire office fell into an uncomfortable silence.

"It appears that you are violating the conduct expected inside an army office. Therefore, I will be delivering your resignation along with the evidence proving that you have repeatedly caused disruptions within the office."

The moment the letter was finished, the delivery man opened the files.

One by one, the documents inside were taken out and passed around the office.

There were messages, records, written complaints, and other pieces of evidence documenting Angel’s actions.

Everything had been arranged carefully, leaving very little room for anyone to claim that she had been fired without justification.

The atmosphere became increasingly tense as the employees looked through the documents.

Some exchanged stunned glances while others quietly read through the evidence with furrowed brows.

When Danielle saw everything, she calmly turned her gaze toward Angel.

Angel, on the other hand, was completely stunned.

Her eyes widened as she stared at the documents scattered across the desks.

Her fingers curled into tight fists, and her nails dug into her palms as disbelief and fury burned through her.

"This is impossible. This was not sent by Asher at all."

Her breathing became heavier as she shook her head.

"This is not his style. It must be Danielle. She must be pretending to be Asher."

With that thought, Angel abruptly turned toward Danielle.

Her eyes were filled with viciousness as she glared at her.

"Tell me, you are the one behind this, right?"

Danielle merely smiled.

"If it were truly me, then trust me, it would have been much more ruthless. He actually went easy on you."

Hearing those words, Angel gritted her teeth.

Her face flushed with anger as she pointed accusingly at Danielle.

"How can you be so jealous? I simply like Asher, and that is all. What kind of heinous deed have I even committed that you had to make him fire me? This is exactly what happens when people in power abuse their authority."
