Zombie Bodyguard

Chapter 1998 - 1995: One Against Three

Chapter 1998: Chapter 1995: One Against Three

"What the hell is this?" Lin Tian was speechless, opening a channel discreetly and still getting discovered—how could his luck be this bad?

"This isn’t just ’what the hell,’ it’s a Yaksha, and the steel fork in his hand is much more vicious than the chains of Black and White Impermanence. It’s specifically for skewering souls, capable of directly extracting the soul of a living person from their body, ruthlessly." Zhang Lingyu immediately corrected Lin Tian’s misunderstanding, very seriously.

"Die!" The Ghost Wolf Yaksha thrust his steel fork down, aiming straight for Zhang Lingyu’s head, not even bothering with conversation, nor giving him a chance to explain.

The Ghost Wolf Yaksha was in a commanding position, the steel fork descending fiercely, threatening to crush Zhang Lingyu’s skull with one strike.

"Clang"—a purple sword flashed past, heavily clashing against the steel fork, deflecting it. Lin Tian gripped the Heavenly Tribulation Sword, maintaining his striking posture, ensuring the power didn’t damage the altar. He absorbed all the impact, not dissipating any force.

The Ghost Wolf Yaksha probably didn’t expect such a forceful resistance—two men, one wolf—almost fell from the channel’s entrance. His seated ghost wolf bared its teeth, letting out a low growl.

Suddenly, a brilliant white light flashed, accompanied by a figure leaping up, slashing directly toward the Ghost Wolf Yaksha. Xu Feibai had drawn his Tang Blade Flowing Light without hesitation, launching his attack.

The Ghost Wolf Yaksha didn’t waste words and initiated the attack. Lin Tian and Xu Feibai weren’t amateurs either—Lin Tian had just struck aside the steel fork as Xu Feibai charged forward.

Roar...

The ghost wolf let out a massive roar, and the Yaksha reversed his grip, smashing the steel fork down, producing another "clang." Xu Feibai was knocked back, crashing into the rock wall, but the Yaksha’s ghost wolf landed on the ground, its four paws firmly gripping the surface, not as embarrassed as Xu Feibai.

Seeing the difference in power between the two, Lin Tian narrowed his eyes. Clearly, the Ghost Wolf Yaksha’s combat power was higher than that of Black and White Impermanence.

Xu Feibai quickly stood up, holding his Tang Blade Flowing Light with one hand, pointing it diagonally to the ground, his eyes coldly fixed on the Ghost Wolf Yaksha.

The Ghost Wolf Yaksha glanced at Lin Tian and Xu Feibai, eventually setting his gaze on Xu Feibai, speaking in a muffled voice: "I have no interest in the Six Path anomaly. Get lost."

The Ghost Wolf Yaksha immediately saw through Xu Feibai’s identity; zombies are anomalies of the Six Paths.

But with such condescending judgment, Lin Tian was displeased, and he shouted angrily: "Screw you!"

Simultaneously, Lin Tian swung the Heavenly Tribulation Sword with a slash aimed at the Ghost Wolf Yaksha. The Yaksha scoffed, his mouth curling in a mocking smirk as he caught the steel fork with one hand, sweeping sharply.

"Boom"—a powerful energy ripple erupted at the collision of the two weapons, first impacting the rock wall, which instantly shattered, spraying innumerable stones around.

Zhang Lingyu’s expression changed dramatically, hastily picking up a talisman, clasping his hands together, chanting incantations, then raising his hands upward. The talisman transformed into several beams of light, flying around the altar.

The previously placed talismans glowed, casting a semi-transparent light curtain over the altar.

After setting up a barrier, she breathed a sigh of relief: "Thankfully, I was prepared. Or else the altar would have been ruined."

At this point, the Ghost Wolf Yaksha, using one hand, competed in strength with Lin Tian, surprisingly holding his ground—even though Lin Tian hadn’t unleashed his full power. Suddenly, the red light in the Yaksha’s eyes flashed, as did the ghost wolf’s.

The ghost wolf’s four claws grew long and sharp, more than before. A front claw waved, aiming its sharp talons at Lin Tian’s heart, seemingly intent on tearing it out.

In the cave, another flash of bright light appeared—a white blade light slashed toward the ghost wolf’s claw. The wolf claw, which was about to excavate Lin Tian’s heart, retracted instantly. However, the ghost wolf’s head pivoted, biting into the Tang Blade Flowing Light.

Two sharp fangs bit tightly onto the blade’s surface, emitting an ear-piercing crunch as the ghost wolf attempted to sever the Flowing Light, but failed, and the Flowing Light didn’t harm the ghost wolf either.

Xu Feibai furrowed his brow, pulling hard on the Flowing Light. The ghost wolf barely moved its head, and surprisingly, the Flowing Light Saber couldn’t be withdrawn. Immediately, two zombies, White and one ghost wolf with one Yaksha, reached a stalemate—or in other words, neither side exerted their full power, both pressing the other’s limits.

"Lingyu, how can I help Lin Tian? Does the ancient zither have any effect on that thing?" Zhang Lingyu was very anxious, not frightened but contemplating assistance.

Typically, a little girl might cry over a scraped knee or a fall, and scream losing her voice upon seeing mice or bugs, but Xiao Manxuan didn’t.

"It’s useless. If my assumption is correct, the ancient zither’s power is sealed, not fully awakened. Fine against ordinary people, but completely ineffective against these high-level Yakshas." Zhang Lingyu shook his head, dismissing the little girl’s idea.

Zhang Lingyu glanced around, taking out a very strange card, adorned with green runes, twisting and turning like vines, like tentacles.

She pinched the card and shot it out like a dart, with a thud piercing the rock floor, only its upper half visible. The card was quite sharp, though it seemed to miss, being about ten steps from the Ghost Wolf Yaksha.

The Yaksha’s mouth contorted in a mockery, as if laughing at Zhang Lingyu’s stupidity. But before his mouth closed, the card emitted a green light, and then the ground shook.

Suddenly, with a loud bang, the ground where the card was exploded, and a thick vine burst through the stone, immediately wrapping around the ghost wolf’s four legs.

Simultaneously, sharp spikes grew from the vine, glowing with blue light, stabbing the ghost wolf. Lin Tian was taken aback—this vine was different from what Zhang Zhicheng wielded, clearly crafted by Zhang Ruyan, and it’s the latest variant.

Previously, this crazy woman had mentioned striving to develop a mutant vine specifically to trap Lin Tian. Now, it didn’t trap Lin Tian but restrained the ghost wolf.

The ghost wolf trembled violently, its fur standing on end, eyes flashing with frantic red light.

"Foolish Demon Exorcist, you’ve succeeded in angering us!" The Yaksha’s eyes blazed red, focusing on Zhang Lingyu, with both the Yaksha and ghost wolf exuding a rampant aura.

The Yaksha gripped the steel fork with both hands, forcefully sweeping, knocking Lin Tian back, and the ghost wolf threw Xu Feibai aside.

"Besides the Ancestor, it’s my first time encountering an opponent with such power." Lin Tian internally marveled, but instead of fear, he was thrilled.

"I’ll crush your skulls, and feed your brains to my ghost wolf!" The Yaksha wielded the steel fork, which unexpectedly ignited with Hellfire.

With a sweeping momentum, the Ghost Fork spun the steel fork in a half-circle, casting a huge shadow of the steel fork, along with Hellfire, charging at the three of them.

The vine couldn’t withstand the Hellfire for even a second, quickly turning to ashes. Be it Zhang Lingyu’s inferior skill or the ineffectiveness of Zhang Ruyan’s vine against Netherworld beings, it could not resist the Hellfire.

As the vine burned away, the ghost wolf was freed, roaring with fury, exuding black aura. As the black aura stirred, three ghost wolf shadows emerged, attacking Lin Tian and the others.
