Zombie Bodyguard

Chapter 2018 - 2015: Pointing the Way

Chapter 2018: Chapter 2015: Pointing the Way

Lin Tian did not ask her if she knew Ying Gou, but directly inquired, "Does Meng Po know the whereabouts of Ying Gou? Or the bloodline inheritor of Ying Gou?"

After asking this question, he noticed that Meng Po’s expression didn’t change much, as if she had already anticipated this outcome. Lin Tian was very puzzled; it was understandable that Meng Po could see through the identity of a zombie, but could she also read thoughts? That would be too terrifying.

Meng Po pointed to Lin Tian’s chest and said, "The answer is within you."

Lin Tian was taken aback and instinctively said, "The Ksitigarbha Order?"

Meng Po shook her head, and Lin Tian was puzzled again. He thought Meng Po was referring to the Ksitigarbha Order, thinking he could find Ying Gou through it, but Meng Po denied this assumption. So, what other clues could there be on him?

Lin Tian fell into deep thought. Suddenly, a thought flashed through his mind; aside from the Ksitigarbha Order and Sword Spirit, there was another thing inside him that didn’t belong to him.

He raised his hand, and a wisp of blood energy gathered in his palm, finally coalescing into a Blood Pearl. At first glance, it looked no different from an ordinary glass bead, but it was indeed not his item; it was given to him by the Ferryman.

Back then, when Lin Tian jumped into the Wangchuan River, he met the Ferryman who rowed the boat and also found the Second Miss. When he parted ways with the Ferryman, he was given this Blood Pearl.

Time had passed, and Lin Tian almost forgot about this matter. Only with Meng Po’s reminder did he suddenly recall it.

"This is just a Blood Pearl. Does it hold any clues?" Lin Tian asked strangely.

"This is Ying Gou’s blood," Meng Po suddenly said.

Lin Tian was startled, unable to believe it, "Impossible. I am a zombie, most familiar with zombie blood. Even if I can’t discern if it’s Ancestor’s blood, I can at least sense the zombie aura within, but this Blood Pearl has no features. Toss it on the ground, and one might think it’s a glass bead."

Meng Po was not surprised at all, calmly saying, "Because this Blood Pearl is incomplete, so is its aura. However, find the one who gave you the Blood Pearl, and you’ll find Ying Gou."

"The Ferryman?" Lin Tian instinctively said aloud, simultaneously feeling the Ferryman’s identity getting more complicated.

There was also another reason; the Ferryman wasn’t easy to find. He once said he would ferry a soul across the Wangchuan River only once every hundred years. A few months ago, the Ferryman had just appeared, and he would appear again in a hundred years. Clearly, Lin Tian couldn’t wait even a year.

As if seeing through Lin Tian’s thoughts again, Meng Po said, "The Ferryman appears once every hundred years. Whether you can find him or not depends on you."

"No matter what, thanks to Meng Po for pointing me in the right direction. Even if the Ferryman hides at the bottom of the Blood Sea, I will find him." Lin Tian clasped his hands in a bow, undaunted.

Meng Po gently smiled, "It’s this kind of belief. Believe in yourself; no difficulty can stop you."

"Then we should bid farewell." Having got the clue, Lin Tian didn’t plan to linger and decided to leave. How to find the Ferryman would need careful planning.

"Wait, I’ll give you something that might be useful in the future." Meng Po stopped Lin Tian. While he was puzzled, she made a call towards the Lifespring. Wisps of water mist emerged from the spring, gathering in her hand.

When the mist dissipated, a crystal-clear bead appeared in Meng Po’s hand, with what seemed to be water waves rippling inside. Slightly moving, it was radiant, more dazzling than a diamond.

"What is this?" Lin Tian asked, puzzled, while also thinking to himself why these Netherworld big shots liked to give gifts. Even the Ferryman did so.

"It’s a crystal of the Lifespring, hoping it’ll be useful to you." Meng Po answered, lightly tossing it, and the bead drew a perfect arc before landing in Lin Tian’s hand.

At the moment of catching the bead, Lin Tian worried that the life energy aura within might harm his zombie body, but upon grasping it, he realized this worry was unnecessary. The bead was cool to the touch, with no other peculiarities.

"Let’s head out. Your friends have waited long enough. If you don’t show up, the little girl might get worried." Meng Po smiled and made her way forward.

Lin Tian walked alongside Meng Po, and as they reached the exit of the back garden, he stopped and turned to Meng Po, "I have another question. Why does the Lifespring appear in the Netherworld? The Netherworld is a place full of dead air; the two are incompatible."

Meng Po also paused, not looking at Lin Tian. After a moment of silence, she said, "Who knows? In death, life is nurtured. Maybe that’s its purpose."

Lin Tian asked this question, intending to indirectly inquire about Meng Po’s origins, but unfortunately, her answer did not reveal any information. Perhaps she didn’t know her origins, or maybe she just didn’t want to say.

Lin Tian returned to the pavilion and, as expected, saw Xiao Manxuan and Zhang Lingyu looking anxious, with the little girl almost unable to sit still.

"Lin Tian, are you okay..." Seeing Lin Tian appear, Xiao Manxuan couldn’t help but run over, patting him here and there, worried he might have been harmed.

Only upon seeing Meng Po, Zhang Lingyu, Mu Yun, and Hongling all watching her did the little girl realize her actions were overly intimate, causing her cheeks to flush as she stepped back awkwardly.

Lin Tian lamented to himself because the little girl’s soft hands felt really nice on him, but unfortunately, with so many people watching, he couldn’t indulge.

"Hongling, escort them out." Meng Po instructed.

Hongling nodded, lifted the red lantern, and led the way out. Zhang Lingyu gave Lin Tian a look, signaling if he had asked Meng Po. Lin Tian returned a reassuring look, indicating they would talk outside.

The four of them followed Hongling and left the Huangquan Inn. Upon exiting, the environment changed again, and the green vanished, revealing a sea of blood-red Other Shore Flowers as far as the eye could see.

The sight was magnificent, yet devoid of any life energy, particularly stark compared to the Huangquan Inn’s contrast, making the stillness even more pronounced.

The Huangquan Inn was truly a paradise in the Netherworld.

No one spoke, and the banshee spiritual bodies dared not disturb. After walking for an unknown amount of time, the Other Shore Flowers disappeared, and finally, they returned to Huangquan Road.

Hongling didn’t say much, merely nodding before heading back into the sea of Other Shore Flowers, the red glow of her lantern quickly disappearing from sight.

"Lin Tian, what did you and Meng Po talk about?" Xiao Manxuan asked curiously.

"I asked her about the origin of the guqin, but she couldn’t tell." Lin Tian said regretfully.

"Then forget it. As long as it’s playable, it’s fine." The little girl was quite open-minded.

However, Zhang Lingyu patted her shoulder and smiled, "You misunderstood. Lin Tian was asking about the guqin’s secrets to help you unravel the mystery of the foreign energy."

Afterward, she turned her gaze to Lin Tian, "And Ying Gou’s whereabouts?"

"The Ferryman of the Wangchuan River. Meng Po pointed me to this clue. Finding him will lead to Ying Gou." Lin Tian replied truthfully.

"The Ferryman only appears once every hundred years; how will you find him?" Zhang Lingyu frowned slightly, asking the same question that Lin Tian faced.
