Chapter 2024: Chapter 2021: Blood Sea City

"You big pervert, let go of Sister Mu Yun quickly," Xiao Manxuan also protested.

Lin Tian released Mu Yun and said with a smile, "Xuanxuan, Mu Yun is several hundred years older than you, is it appropriate to call her sister?"

"I don’t care, Sister Mu Yun is so young and beautiful, you can’t call her an old lady and age her," Xiao Manxuan coquettishly said.

Hearing Xiao Manxuan’s words, even Mu Yun’s indifferent face revealed a smile; she hadn’t reacted at all when Lin Tian held her earlier.

"What you call someone is just a title, it’s not important. Let’s set off on our journey," Mu Yun didn’t mind at all. Though she was born in the strictly hierarchical Netherworld, she didn’t care about empty fame.

"How are we going to travel? Doesn’t the Netherworld have any means of transportation?" Lin Tian asked curiously.

"You are not spiritual bodies, I can’t take you flying, we can only ride horses," Mu Yun frowned slightly, clearly troubled by the journey as well.

"Ride horses?" Lin Tian was taken aback, thinking riding a horse wouldn’t be as fast as his natural speed. Like on TV, strong fighters who can fly but ride horses instead seem ridiculous, and he certainly wouldn’t do something so foolish.

But Mu Yun didn’t mind, she put her fingers to her lips and blew gently. A sharp whistle sounded immediately, spreading in all directions.

While Lin Tian was still baffled, a few shadows approached rapidly from afar. Looking closely, there were actually four black horses. The black horses were incredibly fast, reaching them within a few breaths.

The black horses arrived quickly and stopped just as swiftly, pulling back their hooves to shift from charging to standing still in an instant, not swaying even a bit, steady and firm.

Upon closer inspection, the eyes of the four black horses glowed green, like ghostly horses, clearly different from horses in the Human Realm, exuding an extraordinary aura.

"Wow, these horses are cool! If I got one as a steed in the Human Realm, it would outshine any sports car," Lin Tian couldn’t help but marvel at the unique noble horses.

"These horses are raised in the Netherworld and, like ghostly spiritual bodies, would evaporate on exposure to the sun. What’s their use in the Human Realm? Furthermore, these are warhorses; the Netherworld wouldn’t allow you to take them away," Mu Yun explained very seriously.

"Oh, so they’re warhorses. It seems the legend of ghost soldiers borrowing the way isn’t without foundation," Lin Tian softly acknowledged, recalling the legend of ghost soldiers.

Mu Yun didn’t respond but instead mounted the horse with a swift leap and confidently ordered, "Let’s go."

Xiao Manxuan and Zhang Lingyu weren’t surprised by these green-eyed horses. Maybe they, having reached Naihe Bridge before Lin Tian, had ridden warhorses to arrive.

The two women also mounted their horses. Although Xiao Manxuan wasn’t a fighter, she was an expert horsewoman. When Lin Tian first visited the Xiao Family, he had competed with the little girl, and despite being a girl, she really was an exceptional rider.

"Give me the guqin," Lin Tian mounted his horse too and beckoned to Zhang Lingyu, who untied her backpack and tossed it to Lin Tian.

Lin Tian caught it, slung it on his back, and squeezed his legs. The warhorse immediately sped off swiftly. The ghost soldiers guarding them watched Lin Tian leave with eyes full of admiration, not because of the mighty looking warhorse, but because he had held a First-class Impermanence, Mu Yun, and yet was unharmed.

The three women also spurred their horses into a gallop, quickly catching up with Lin Tian. The four horses galloped along the Wangchuan River, heading downstream.

Due to the incredible speed of the warhorses, the wind noise was tremendous, and the wind stung their faces. Xiao Manxuan and Zhang Lingyu covered their faces and ears with fabric.

Zhang Lingyu wore a purple veil and a purple dress, just as she was dressed when Lin Tian first met her at the Night Rose Bar—mysterious, beautiful.

The four of them rode the Netherworld ghost horses, speeding along the riverbank, truly in high spirits.

The most important thing was that the ghost horses ran extremely smoothly; even the rugged terrain along the banks didn’t faze them. They navigated as if on flat ground. Furthermore, even slopes didn’t slow them down, so their progress was swift.

"Lin Tian, at this pace, Xiao Manxuan and Zhang Lingyu might not withstand it; there’s a city mid-way where we need to rest," Mu Yun said almost shouting, otherwise her voice would be drowned by the wind.

She and Lin Tian raced at the front, breaking the wind path and reducing the pressure on Xiao Manxuan and Zhang Lingyu.

Lin Tian, of course, understood the reasoning. With the ghost horses being so fast, combined with the harsh environment around Wangchuan River, Xiao Manxuan and Zhang Lingyu wouldn’t withstand it. He had planned to rest mid-way anyway, but was curious to learn there were other cities in the Netherworld besides Fengdu City.

"Are there other cities in the Netherworld?" Lin Tian couldn’t help but ask.

"Besides Fengdu City, there are many large cities in the Netherworld like Iron Ring City, Hao Li City, Taishan City, Wangsi City, and the place we plan to rest is called Blood Sea City," Mu Yun answered loudly.

"Blood Sea City?" Lin Tian was very curious.

"Yes, among all the major cities, Blood Sea City is the closest to the Blood Sea area, which is where it got its name," Mu Yun explained simply.

Lin Tian’s eyes flashed as he said, "Seems I still underestimated the Netherworld. It’s more vast than I imagined."

In his perception, the Netherworld was just Huangquan Road, Naihe Bridge, Wangchuan River, Fengdu City, and the Eighteen Layers of Hell, but the Netherworld exceeded this by far.

The arrogance and pride of the Netherworld’s Yin Department aren’t unfounded; such a vast and powerful world certainly qualifies.

Galloping all the way, traversing mountains and ridges, under Mu Yun’s guidance, they passed through perilous places. Lin Tian also witnessed what the Netherworld outskirts were like, full of strange plants, treacherous abysses, and wandering evil spirits.

According to Mu Yun, these evil spirits had incomplete souls, devoid of awareness, with only the instinct to survive, and would devour passing souls.

Of course, encountering Mu Yun was their bad luck; anyone blocking the path was smashed to pieces by her. These spirits had no chance of reincarnation, so she was utterly ruthless in exterminating them.

Lin Tian initially thought of capturing some for refining since evil spirits, like Shishen, are spiritual bodies. The energy from refining them could strengthen the power of fire, but he gave up the idea, considering the long distance still to the Blood Sea.

They took two short breaks along the way. Since they were in the wild, it was just a brief stop to eat before continuing hurriedly.

Because the Netherworld’s sky is perpetually grey, distinguishing day from night is impossible, or maybe there isn’t a day-night cycle at all. They didn’t know how long they’d traveled, but gradually left the Wangchuan River, finally reaching a flat road.

"Follow this road to the end, and you’ll reach Blood Sea City," Mu Yun slightly slowed her pace.

Even slowing down, the ghost horses were still faster than typical horses. All along the way, these ghost horses never rested, far surpassing horses that travel a thousand miles a day.

Not knowing how long they’d traveled, a massive city appeared on the horizon. Dark red city walls, grand city towers, and open gates, like an ancient beast resting, ready to awaken and devour anything at any moment.
