10,000x Rebate System: Every Return Makes Me Stronger
Chapter 56: Abnormal Dungeon [1]The entire world glowed red.
Amon’s expression became serious as he looked deeper into the dungeon.
The entire world around him was glowing with faint red outlines through his Truthseeker’s Eye.
It revealed how most of the dungeon was made of lies and deception.
’This place is dangerous.’ He slowly looked around.
The dungeon was mostly covered in thick layers of ice, with frozen walls stretching into the darkness on either side.
Strange moss-like plants grew between the cracks, emitting a soft blue-white glow that illuminated the path ahead.
The faint light reflected across the ice, making the dungeon look beautiful.
Amon glanced toward Seraphina.
She was wearing a dark blue traveling coat over a fitted white shirt, with black trousers tucked neatly into her boots.
Her long blue hair rested over her shoulders, while both hands were wrapped around a slender silver staff with a pale blue crystal embedded at its tip.
Amon pointed toward the passage ahead.
"I’ll take the lead." He tightened his grip around his battle axe. "Keep your spells ready and don’t move too far away from me."
Seraphina nodded seriously. "Understood."
The two continued deeper into the dungeon.
Their footsteps echoed softly across the frozen ground.
The faint light from the moss-like plants moved across their faces whenever they passed beneath them.
It didn’t take long before Amon noticed movement ahead. He immediately stopped.
Several strange creatures emerged from behind a large ice formation.
Their bodies had the general structure of wolves, but eight thin legs extended from their sides like those of spiders.
Their mouths were filled with sharp teeth, while several small eyes reflected the blue light of the dungeon.
Amon frowned. ’Spider wolves?’
The creatures lowered their bodies before suddenly rushing toward them.
"Here they come." Amon stepped forward instead of retreating.
The first spider wolf leaped toward him with its claws extended.
Amon twisted his body to the side and narrowly avoided the attack before swinging his battle axe upward.
The blade struck the creature underneath its jaw and sent it tumbling backward.
Another monster immediately attacked from his left.
Amon raised his short sword and blocked its claws.
CLANG!
The impact pushed him backward several steps, but before the creature could attack again, a thin blue spear of ice flew past Amon’s shoulder.
FWOOSH!
The ice projectile pierced through the monster’s chest, killing it on the spot.
Amon glanced backward.
Seraphina was already preparing another spell.
He nodded and focused on the rest.
Two more spider wolves rushed toward Amon.
He stepped forward and swung his axe in a wide arc, forcing the first creature to retreat before stabbing the second one with his short sword.
The blade entered through its neck.
The monster screamed and tried to bite him, but Amon kicked it away before finishing it with Frost Spear.
The remaining creature began circling them.
Amon tightened his grip around his weapons. ’They’re smarter than ordinary monsters.’
He waited until one of them jumped.
Amon ducked beneath its claws and swung his axe into its leg.
The creature lost its balance and crashed onto the frozen ground.
Before it could recover, Seraphina’s spell struck it from behind.
Ice spread across its body before the creature shattered into several pieces.
The last spider wolf suddenly lunged toward Seraphina.
Amon immediately yelled. "Seraphina!"
He rushed forward.
Seraphina raised her staff and created a wall of ice between herself and the monster, but the creature shattered it with its claws.
Amon arrived just in time. His battle axe slammed into the creature’s side and knocked it away.
The monster rolled across the ice before quickly getting back up.
Amon didn’t give it another opportunity as he threw his short sword directly at its head.
The blade pierced through one of its eyes, and the creature collapsed.
Amon slowly walked toward Seraphina. "You okay?"
"I could have handled it." She looked toward the dead monsters. "Those things were stronger than they look."
Amon nodded. "They weren’t exactly weak."
He looked around the battlefield before noticing something lying on the ground.
Unlike the other monsters, only one item had been left behind.
A small translucent fang rested among the shattered ice.
Amon crouched down and picked it up before activating Merchant’s Divine Insight.
---
[Item: Frostfang]
[Grade: Silver]
[Actual Value: 1,850 Gold Coins]
[Description: A condensed fang containing traces of frost mana.]
[Use: Can be refined into frost-type potions or used as a material for weapons and magical accessories.]
---
Amon’s eyebrows rose slightly. ’Not bad.’
He placed the Frostfang inside his spatial bracelet before standing up.
Seraphina looked at him curiously. "Was it valuable?"
"Somewhat."
Amon started walking again. "We’ll collect anything useful we find."
Seraphina followed beside him.
After several minutes of silence, she suddenly asked, "Is it common for two different monsters to be mixed together like that?"
Amon shook his head. "It shouldn’t be."
He glanced back toward the remains of the spider wolves. "Monster variants exist, but combinations like those are relatively rare."
Seraphina frowned. She remembered when Amon talked about his first dungeon dive.
"I don’t think they’re very rare anymore." She looked ahead. "We just entered the dungeon and already had to fight them."
Amon nodded slowly. "I’ve noticed that too."
Something about the dungeon felt wrong.
The deeper they walked, the colder the air became.
Amon could feel the mana furnace inside his body working harder to refine more mana, which in turn made his body warmer.
His natural frost resistance kept the cold from becoming painful, but even he could tell that the temperature was dropping at an unnatural rate.
Seraphina noticed his expression. "Are you feeling cold?"
"A little."
Amon rubbed his arm. "The mana around us is getting denser as well."
Seraphina nodded. "I noticed."
For a while, they continued walking while occasionally discussing the dungeon.
Seraphina talked about how strange the mana flow felt, while Amon explained some of the things he had noticed through his perception.
The conversation wasn’t particularly serious, but it helped keep the atmosphere from becoming too tense.
Eventually, the glowing moss-like plants became less frequent.
The light ahead gradually disappeared until the two of them reached a large opening in the dungeon.
Amon stopped because the area ahead looked completely different.
It was a massive cave-like passage covered in darkness. There wasn’t a single glowing plant inside.
The faint blue light from behind them barely reached the entrance, leaving the interior almost completely black.
Seraphina raised her staff. "I’ll illuminate the area."
She took one step forward when Amon immediately reached out and stopped her.
Seraphina looked at him. "What?"
Amon narrowed his eyes.
His Truthseeker’s Eye was already active, and something about the darkness was deep red.
"There’s something inside." He whispered as he slowly raised one hand.
A thin strand of mana emerged from his fingertips.
Amon flicked his wrist and sent the thread into the darkness.
The mana thread traveled several meters before suddenly becoming tense, hitting something.
Before Seraphina could respond, a massive shape suddenly descended from the ceiling.
A huge spider-like head emerged from the darkness, its pale eyes opening one after another.
Its jaws snapped shut.
CLANG!
The creature severed Amon’s mana thread in an instant.
Amon’s expression hardened as the enormous head slowly pulled back into the darkness.
Seraphina tightened her grip around her staff. "Amon..."
He raised his battle axe. "Stay behind me."
Multiple eyes opened up in the darkness like fireflies after rain.
