The massive creature slowly began to move.

Amon’s eyes widened as the strange whale-like monster pushed itself up from the ground, its enormous body casting a shadow across the entire chamber.

It stood on two thick legs, with a huge rounded body covered in dark, rough skin.

A pale, segmented layer covered its face and chest, while its long arms ended in enormous hands.

A thick tail dragged behind it as the creature reached for the massive hammer lying beside its body.

The weapon looked almost absurd in its hands.

Its head alone was nearly as large as Amon’s upper body.

Amon tightened his grip around his battle axe. "...That’s the boss?"

Seraphina swallowed slightly. "I think so."

The creature slowly raised its head.

Two small eyes stared down at them from beneath its heavy brow.

BOOM!

The monster suddenly swung its hammer.

Amon immediately regained his bearings and yelled.

"Move!"

He grabbed Seraphina and jumped backward as the hammer smashed into the ground.

CRAAAAASH!

The black stone beneath them shattered.

A shockwave spread through the chamber, throwing pieces of stone in every direction.

Seraphina quickly raised her staff and created an ice barrier in front of them.

Several pieces of debris slammed into the barrier before falling harmlessly to the ground.

Amon looked at the massive crater created by the hammer. ’One hit and it did that much damage?’

The monster pulled its hammer from the ground and charged toward them.

Despite its enormous body, it was surprisingly fast.

Amon stepped forward. "I’ll keep it busy!"

He rushed toward the creature before swinging his battle axe toward its leg.

CLANG!

The axe struck its dark skin but barely left a mark. The monster immediately swung its hammer horizontally.

Amon ducked underneath the attack.

The hammer passed over his head with enough force to create a powerful gust of wind.

Amon immediately stabbed his short sword into the monster’s thigh.

This time, the blade managed to penetrate.

The creature roared, and its tail suddenly swept across the ground.

Amon noticed it too late.

WHAM!

The thick tail slammed directly into his side.

His body flew through the air before crashing against the ground several meters away.

"Amon!"

Seraphina immediately raised her staff.

A massive ice lance formed above her head before shooting toward the monster.

FWOOSH!

The lance struck its shoulder.

The creature staggered backward, giving Amon enough time to push himself up.

He rubbed his ribs. "That fucking tail..."

Amon wiped the dirt from his clothes and tightened his grip around his sword.

The monster turned toward him again, and Amon didn’t give it time to attack.

He activated Spatial Steps, and the space around his body distorted.

WHOOSH!

Amon disappeared. He reappeared beside the monster’s head and immediately swung his battle axe.

CLANG!

The creature raised its hammer in time to block the attack.

Amon’s axe bounced off the weapon while the monster’s free hand came toward him.

Amon immediately activated Spatial Steps again.

WHOOSH!

He disappeared before the massive hand could grab him.

He reappeared several meters away. ’That was close.’

The monster slammed its hammer down again.

BOOM!

Amon jumped sideways as the ground shattered. Seraphina continued attacking from behind.

Several ice spears appeared around her before shooting toward the creature.

The creature roared and turned toward Seraphina.

"Hey!!"

Amon’s eyes widened as he tried to get its attention.

The monster ignored him and charged toward Seraphina instead.

Seraphina quickly raised her staff, creating a wall of ice in front of her, but the monster smashed through it.

CRACK!

The barrier shattered instantly, and Seraphina stepped backward and fired another spell.

A wave of ice spread across the ground, freezing the monster’s feet.

For a moment, the creature stopped, and Amon saw his chance.

He rushed forward and swung his battle axe toward its knee.

CRACK!

The axe dug deeper this time, making the monster stumble.

Amon immediately followed with his short sword, stabbing into the same damaged area.

The creature roared and swung its hammer wildly.

Amon jumped backward, and the hammer missed him by a few centimeters.

He landed and immediately activated Spatial Steps.

WHOOSH!

He appeared above the monster as Amon brought his axe down toward its shoulder.

The monster suddenly raised its arm.

CLANG!

The axe struck the thick limb instead.

Amon gritted his teeth. He tried to move, but the creature grabbed his leg.

’Shit.’

He tried to activate Spatial Steps again, but the monster violently threw him against the ground.

BOOM!

Pain spread through his back. Amon rolled away just as the hammer smashed down where his body had been.

The entire chamber trembled.

Seraphina’s expression became serious. "Amon!"

"I’m fine!"

Amon pushed himself up. His arms were beginning to ache from blocking and dodging the monster’s attacks, while several bruises and fractures had already appeared across his body.

The monster wasn’t slowing down either. Its movements were only becoming more aggressive.

Amon stared at it for several seconds. ’Its body is too tough.’

His ordinary attacks weren’t doing enough damage.

Unlike other monsters, this one was aware enough of his Spatial Steps.

Seraphina’s spells could hurt it, but she needed openings to land her stronger attacks.

Amon suddenly looked at the environment around them.

The chamber was filled with broken stone platforms and several tall pillars.

An idea appeared in his mind. "Seraphina!"

She looked toward him.

"I need you to create ice platforms."

"What?"

"Make them one after another!"

Seraphina understood after a moment. "Got it."

The monster charged again, and Amon rushed toward it.

But much to its surprise, Amon ran past the monster and jumped onto a large piece of broken stone.

The creature turned around and swung its hammer.

Amon jumped away. "Now!"

Seraphina raised her staff, and a block of ice appeared in midair.

Amon stepped onto it, and before the ice could disappear, another block appeared higher up.

Seraphina continued creating the platforms in rapid succession.

Amon climbed higher with every step, and the monster finally noticed what was happening.

The creature swung its hammer toward him, and Amon activated Spatial Steps.

WHOOSH!

He disappeared from the monster’s sight as the hammer passed through empty air.

Amon reappeared directly above its back. His battle axe slammed into the monster’s shoulder.

CRACK!

The creature screamed, and Amon immediately jumped away as the monster violently shook its body.

Seraphina created another ice platform beneath him.

Amon landed on it, and the monster turned around and raised its hammer.

Amon yelled. "Again!"

Seraphina understood as she created more ice platforms around the monster.

Amon jumped from one to another, changing his position constantly.

The monster tried to follow him, but every time it looked toward him, Amon was already somewhere else.

Spatial Steps made it even worse.

Amon would disappear from one platform and suddenly appear above the monster.

Then his axe would come down.

CRACK!

Another piece of dark skin broke apart.

The monster roared and swung its hammer upward, but Amon was quick enough to move away.

Seraphina continued supporting him without stopping.

She created platforms wherever he needed them while occasionally firing ice spears toward the monster.

Finally, he reached the top of the monster.

Amon landed directly on its broad back, and the creature began violently shaking itself.

Amon nearly lost his balance. "Stay still, you fucking bitch!"

He raised his battle axe with both hands, but the monster tried to throw him off.

Amon activated Spatial Steps.

WHOOSH!

He disappeared for a fraction of a second before reappearing above its back.

The monster looked around in confusion as Amon brought his axe down.

CRAAAAACK!

The blade buried itself deep into the creature’s neck, cracking a part of it.

A massive ice spear formed beside Seraphina as well, which she quickly launched.

FWOOSH!

The spear struck the monster directly in the chest.

At the same moment, Amon jumped from its back and used Spatial Steps to appear directly above its head.

He raised his battle axe one final time. "For the headache you’ve caused me."

He brought it down with all the force he could muster.

BOOOOM!

The axe struck the wounded section of its neck.

The monster’s massive body remained standing for several seconds.

BOOM!

The entire chamber shook as the creature hit the ground.

Amon landed nearby and rolled across the stone before finally stopping.

He lay there for a few seconds. "...I’m never fighting something that big again."

Seraphina walked toward him as the boy stood up.

The monster’s body began dissolving into countless particles of mana.

A wave of refined energy flowed toward the two of them.

Amon closed his eyes as his mana furnace immediately began refining the energy.

Warmth spread through his exhausted body.

His breathing gradually became calmer.

When the light finally disappeared, only a single object remained on the ground.

A thin, dark-blue book, which Amon slowly walked over to and picked up.

He activated Merchant’s Divine Insight.
