10,000x Rebate System: Every Return Makes Me Stronger
Chapter 82: Drunken Dose.By the time Ambrosia was discharged from the hospital, night had already settled over the city.
Amon walked beside her as they made their way back to the apartment, keeping a close eye on her every step.
The medicine had weakened her considerably, and although the doctors had assured him that the poison was no longer dangerous, she was still under the effects of several strong drugs.
Sidney walked on Ambrosia’s other side, occasionally glancing at her with concern.
"Are you sure you can walk?" Amon asked.
Ambrosia nodded seriously. "Of course I can."
She took three steps before stumbling slightly.
Amon immediately caught her arm. "You’re obviously not fine."
Ambrosia looked at him with an offended expression. "I’m perfectly fine. The floor simply moved."
Sidney covered her mouth to hide a laugh. "Really, Mom?"
"Yes," Ambrosia replied with complete seriousness. "It was very rude."
Amon sighed. ’The medicine really messed with her.’
Once they reached the apartment, Amon helped Ambrosia into her bedroom. "Sit down."
"I’m not a child, Amon."
"I know." He pulled the blanket over her legs. "But tonight you’re going to behave like one."
Ambrosia puffed her cheeks slightly.
Sidney entered behind them and looked toward the bed. "I was thinking about sleeping with her tonight."
Amon looked at her. "That’s probably a good idea."
Sidney immediately climbed onto the bed beside Ambrosia.
Ambrosia smiled happily.
"Then tonight will be a mother-daughter night." She looked toward Sidney with bright eyes. "We can stay awake and talk about everything."
Amon immediately interrupted. "No, you can’t."
Ambrosia looked at him. "Why?"
"Because you’re going to sleep."
Ambrosia scoffed. "You’re acting like a father."
Sidney giggled from beside her. "Yeah, you shouldn’t behave like a Daddy."
Ambrosia suddenly became awkward. "That’s... probably not the best word."
Sidney blinked her eyes with a silly smile on her face.
"Why?" She tilted her head innocently. "Don’t they mean the same thing?"
Ambrosia opened her mouth but couldn’t immediately think of an answer.
Sidney pointed toward Amon. "You called him father, and I’m calling him Daddy."
Ambrosia stared at Amon for a moment before surprisingly nodding. "Daddy is better."
Amon immediately clapped his hand against her forehead. "I don’t want to hear anything else."
Sidney started laughing while Ambrosia rubbed her forehead.
Amon shook his head before carefully tucking the blanket around Ambrosia. "Now go to sleep."
Ambrosia grabbed his arm before he could leave. "What about my good-night kiss?"
Amon sighed. "You really are acting like a child tonight."
He leaned down and gave her a gentle kiss on the cheek. "There."
Ambrosia smiled contentedly.
Sidney immediately raised her hand. "I want one too."
Amon looked at her and silently raised his middle finger.
"You bastard!"
Amon ignored her and walked out of the room before closing the door behind him.
He shook his head with a small smile before entering his own room. ’Come to think of it, Ambrosia always acts childish when she is high.’
Amon remembered whenever she was drunk, she used to act childish as well.
He sat down on the edge of his bed, and his smile gradually disappeared.
Richard’s words from the hospital returned to his mind. "Show them your potential."
Amon leaned back against the wall.
The upcoming college screening suddenly felt much more important than it had before.
The screening wasn’t simply an examination that determined whether someone could attend college.
For many young people, it was the single most important event of their early lives.
Getting into an ordinary college could provide a decent education, access to basic cultivation resources, and opportunities to become an adventurer.
But getting into one of the prestigious universities could completely change someone’s future.
And among them, the Royal University stood at the very top.
Students who entered the Royal University gained access to resources that ordinary students could only dream about.
Even opportunities to enter dangerous areas under the protection of experienced adventurers.
More importantly, the Royal University gathered talented teachers from different regions and even different races.
Elves, dwarves, beastkin, and other races could all be found there.
Amon’s eyes slowly brightened. ’That means I’ll get access to information from other races too.’
The thought excited him.
He had only encountered a handful of people from different races since arriving in this world.
And every one of them was on television.
The Royal University would give him an opportunity to actually interact with them.
He might learn things about their cultivation systems, magic, cultures, and abilities that humans knew very little about.
Amon’s expression suddenly became strange. ’And I might even find a wife from another race.’
He rubbed his chin thoughtfully as another thought came to him. ’Would the System give me a different reward if the wife wasn’t human?’
Amon immediately opened the System. ’System, would a wife from another race affect the rebate?’
The answer appeared almost instantly.
---
[Affirmative.]
[The race, bloodline, cultivation system, and potential of a registered wife may influence the nature of returned rewards.]
---
Amon’s eyes widened.
’Seriously?’ He leaned closer to the screen. ’So an elf wife could potentially give me something different from a human wife?’
The possibility made him increasingly interested, but then another problem occurred to him.
’If I’m going to have multiple wives, staying anonymous is going to become difficult.’
Seraphina was already connected to a powerful family.
Nadya was the daughter of a Duke.
If he eventually married women from different races and powerful backgrounds, there was almost no chance that he could remain completely unknown.
Amon sighed. ’I’ll think about that later.’
He closed the System screen.
Right now, there was something more important.
The unquenchable urge for strength.
Amon opened his status and looked through his abilities.
His eyes eventually settled on the Dragon Emperor’s Scale Armor.
The Mythical-grade armor.
Even among powerful adventurers, something of this level was extraordinarily rare.
For someone his age to possess such an item was completely abnormal.
Amon rubbed his chin. ’I’m already far stronger than most people around my age.’
But that wasn’t enough.
The Cordo family had already shown him what could happen when he wasn’t strong enough.
If he wanted to protect Ambrosia, Sidney, Seraphina, Nadya, and anyone else who eventually became important to him, then he needed more than powerful equipment.
He needed his own strength.
Amon closed his status screen, and then he sat cross-legged on the bed.
He slowly closed his eyes. ’Spirit Sovereign Scripture.’
He began following the instructions of the cultivation method he got from helping Nadya.
His breathing became slower.
His mind gradually became calmer as he guided his mana through his body.
Unlike ordinary cultivation methods, the Spirit Sovereign Scripture didn’t focus on circulating mana throughout every part of the body.
Instead, it directed a large portion of his mana toward his head.
Amon carefully followed the method as mana gathered around his forehead.
At first, it was only a faint warmth, but the sensation became increasingly intense.
It felt as though a small current of energy was slowly gathering behind his eyes.
Amon maintained his concentration.
The mana began moving in a precise cycle around his forehead, gradually becoming denser with every rotation.
His thoughts became clearer, and memories that had once felt distant suddenly became crystal clear.
Even the smallest sounds around him seemed easier to notice.
Amon could sense everything without opening his eyes. ’So this is what Spirit cultivation feels like.’
He continued, and the mana became denser.
His mind felt strangely light, almost as though the weight of his body was slowly disappearing.
Minutes turned into an hour, but Amon didn’t stop.
He continued circulating the mana according to the Spirit Sovereign Scripture, carefully maintaining the delicate flow around his forehead.
Eventually, something fundamentally changed in his body.
Amon suddenly opened his eyes, and he stared at the room.
Everything looked normal, yet something felt different.
Amon slowly closed his eyes and then opened them again.
Now he wasn’t looking through his normal eyes anymore.
His body was still sitting cross-legged on the bed, but Amon was floating above it.
A translucent version of himself hovered several feet above his physical body.
His body was surrounded by a faint spiritual glow, while countless threads of mana seemed to flow around his astral form.
Amon stared down at himself. "...What the hell?"
He raised his hand, and the astral hand moved with him.
Amon looked toward the ceiling, and in his eyes... it reflected.
A completely different world that was growing parallel with reality.
