Chapter 75: Hidden Market

Himura no longer knew what to do, the machines remained on.

"Someone made a huge miscalculation," he said as he sat down.

Hayato was in the room, he just watched Himura walk back and forth, he didn’t know what to say to help with the situation.

"You didn’t follow that man anymore?"

"Shinya wasn’t the person you were after, he isn’t part of that guild, he stays in another guild and I checked his records, it’s from more than two months ago. So it was just a waste of time to keep following him."

"So we still don’t know anything, this is terrible, Masaru is somehow getting ahead of us, I know he’s doing something, but I can’t prove it, since no one considered that something could have happened to jeopardize the whole plan."

In fact, they had considered it, but somehow they managed to keep it a secret.

Hayato was worried, he knew that at some point the blame could fall on him and Kazuma, but he still didn’t know what to do. Betraying Shinozaki was out of the question, he wouldn’t make the mistake of giving up the client. In his line of work, that would be a reputation killer.

"I won’t put the responsibility for this solely on you, I understand your situation, she’s crazy and does whatever she wants, which is why she’s someone no one should work for.

You just followed orders, and because of that, you will be exempt from responsibility. Or not, since she might put all the blame on you."

Hayato knew what Himura wanted to do.

A betrayal, turning Kazuma and himself against Shinozaki would be a risky move for the two of them, but for him, it would be beneficial, since he could remove the responsibility from himself and place it on the three of them.

Tsukishiro still didn’t know who to blame, so whoever managed to find someone to blame faster would fare better.

Hayato stood up and went to the window, he wanted to know what Himura was looking at so much, but he couldn’t see anything interesting.

He sat down and stayed there in the room, he was waiting for some order.

Shinozaki was with Kazuma, who had no information about Himura, he knew how to hide a lot of information, and because of that, the task was much more difficult than the two of them wanted it to be.

"You know very well what’s going to happen, he’s going to turn us against each other and wait for one of us two, or all three of us, to do something that harms the weaker side."

"Yes, I know, and you know he has more power than me, so he can make that happen, don’t you?" Shinozaki asked.

She was right, the guild and the equipment he sold brought in many coins, and over time, this allowed him to gain a lot of power, Shinozaki had a lot of money in her hands, but most of it belonged to clients, and what she had couldn’t compare to what he had hidden somewhere.

Guilds made more than banks.

"He has a very large stock of crystals, part of it is mine, he will certainly hide it and won’t return my share, so I want you to bring me what’s mine."

She stared at Kazuma.

He stood up and called Hayato, who answered quickly and started talking about a different subject.

He understood that Hayato was near Himura.

Hayato kept talking about a dinner with the family.

Kazuma explained everything he wanted done, and Hayato just listened.

Then he called some freelancers from the hidden market and managed to have an advertisement posted.

Masaru picked up his phone and looked at the contract request, he was part of the market, but he had given up the jobs.

He always kept an eye on the job offers in case something came up that he considered worth it.

He just laughed.

Masaru became curious about who had made that request.

He felt like trying to steal from Himura and make him go through something similar to what Masaru and the other guild owners had gone through. But he was already happy with making Himura spend much more than planned.

He knew Tsukishiro wasn’t losing much money, since the energy consumption would probably be for his machines.

’Shinozaki is the weakest link, it was definitely her,’ Masaru thought as he killed an orc.

Masaru left the dungeon and handed some crystals to Amanda, he took the others to the furnace, he wanted to power the guild’s generator in case of an eventual problem. Even though he had already done this with crystals containing a lot of energy, he was a little paranoid and was afraid of running out of power.

Another two hours had passed, he was happy with the money he had received and the money he would receive in the future.

But he wanted to cause some damage to Himura. He just didn’t know how he could do that.

He went to a room in the guild’s basement, he searched for a phone in some boxes.

The device was out of battery, he plugged it in and patiently waited for the phone to become fully charged, then he called Shinozaki.

"I know you’re the one who made the request," Masaru said in a higher-pitched voice.

Shinozaki froze.

"Who are you?"

No one answered, Masaru hung up the call.

"Trace this call," she said, handing the phone to Kazuma.

Masaru kept laughing, he wanted to have seen Shinozaki’s face when he spoke.

Haru was sitting down, he continued watching the volleyball game, his penis was already hurting from being erect for so long. He wanted to do something else, but there was nothing to do at that moment.

"I consider this a waste of resources, their plan is very limited and it seems like it was made by a child," Hina said.

"I agree," Mio said.

Haru couldn’t say whether the plan was good or bad, but he would have done it differently.

"I don’t know, the idea could have been well executed if they had been keeping an eye on all the guild’s movements. If they knew about the crystals and knew about what we’re doing, they certainly would have had some success with the plan."

Hina started thinking.

"But the plan is still very childish."

Haru didn’t answer, he didn’t consider the idea completely bad.

"What would you do?"

"I wouldn’t consume all this energy, that’s a lot of money thrown in the trash, even if they manage to make the power company run out of crystals, they still have to worry about the other guilds, they all still operate and they can all provide crystals, this is bad, but at the same time, not that bad, since they have fewer adventurers.

They should have attacked the company somehow and stolen the crystals, that way the loss would be much greater, in every case, the company would come out ahead. Did you notice that?"

Mio thought about it and it was true, the power company didn’t suffer any losses, only the concern of running out of crystals, but with this high consumption, the company would receive a large amount of coins from the three largest families in the city.

"This makes me wonder, who could have given this idea to the three?"

"It’s better not to accuse anyone," Haru said to the two of them.

"You’re right, it’s better for us not to worry about that," Mio said as she lay down on the floor.

She was already starting to get sleepy. But they still had a few more hours of work.

Or rather, a few more hours of waiting while Haru’s ability did all the work.

He continued watching the game, but soon got bored, he started making some bets, he just wanted to have a little fun, but he didn’t have the same rapid heartbeat, he was no longer afraid of losing.

Not because he thought the system would make him win, he simply had no fear anymore, since he had so many coins in his inventory and bank that losing coins wouldn’t be a real problem.

Every day he took the coins from the coin pouch. He was certain that every day he would have money to receive, even if the pouch stopped working, he would still have his own strength to make more money, in addition to using the money he had stored in the bank.

In other words, the security he had was making betting less fun.

Once again, the system began to notify him.

[Bet!]

[Bet!]

[Bet!]

[Bet!]

[Bet!]

He wanted to turn off the notifications, but he didn’t know where to press, he had forgotten how to do it.

He continued betting.

[Bet!]

[Bet!]

[Bet!]

He stood up to stretch his legs and received another notification.

[+ 20 spins on the Lucky Wheel!]

[+ 10 spins on the Wheel!]

’So that’s thirty spins, and what’s the difference between these two wheels?’

He left it for another time, at that moment he didn’t want to spin the wheel, because he didn’t want anyone to know about the prizes he would win.

The system always put the prizes in front of him, so anyone could see what he had received.
